Title: Anime Scavanger Hunt
Description: Another Game Idea?

kalajessta - February 1, 2006 03:48 PM (GMT)
Alright, this partly came to me in a dream, but I was thinking what if we had a scavanger hunt throughout the hotel? There would be clues and things we would have to find that relates to anime. The first person (or team) to complete the hunt in the shortest time will win a prize of some sort, and then there will be smaller prizes awarded to the other people in the first five or so that complete everything on the hunt.

Would anyone be interested in such a thing? It would most likely take place on Saturday morning, or when there's nothing primary going on. I think it would be a fun idea and I'll be willing to help cordinate it, if staff for this is needed.

That sounds fun..lol.

I would go with teams, it would be easier, ans cheaper to do...(but make one clue lead to the next, so no one could split up and search..lol

(I used to set them up all the time for family reunions..lol I know tricks...)

Ooh. Good idea. I will be devently needing help on clues and such. We'll have to get someone to scout around the hotel too for help for places to hide the clues.

Weel, I will help you if you would like. ^_^

I have done them before.

(as for anything else, we need to contact staff about this, so we can see if it can happen.)

Scouting won't be hard. ^_^ Not to mention if worst comes to worst, we can sciout friday and hold it saturday.

You know... you are the 4th person to come up with this idea independantly!

Now what were you saying earlier about reading the forums thuroughly before posting?

Anyhow, as it says earlier, we ARE having a scavanger hunt!

It's in debate as how to do it though. We have a lot of gameshows already, so getting stuff to be prizes is going to be hard. Also, I'm not sure the hotel would like the idea of us adding things to the list that might end up in hurting the hotel.

Instead, what (in the old thread(s)) we suggested is a con-version of a scavenger hunt. Certain panels will have people with stamps to indicate that you went. Other events will do the same. You'll also have to get a bag from a certain dealer, or a receipt from a certain restraunt (like Taco ninja!), etc. Basically a game that rewards people for enjoying the con and not just chillaxing in the halls.

Ah, gotcha. Understandable about the hotel issues. At the Drury and the Hyatt at Ohayo there was alot of damages by moronic con-goers.

*nods*
ok.
we don't want a repeat of the Hyatt here...

I know this may have been covered, but if you do it by individuals, what about a free badge for the following year, for the first however many you set.

can you get and coupons, or things like pocky to hand out...
I will try to think of some things, if you would like..if not, then it is fine. ^_^

Hey, Kaisermikeb, please tell me that they actually is a Taco Ninja restaurant. It's like a Reese's cup, two great tastes finally together!

Kaisermikeb - February 3, 2006 10:07 AM (GMT)
oh yes, there is!

Faris Kalin - February 6, 2006 08:40 AM (GMT)
OMG! I can't believe that there actually is a Taco Ninja restaurant! Is it pretty good? Is it close to the con? That reminds me, are you going to have a list of nearby restaurants in the convention handbook? I always find that helpful. Plus, I have to go to Taco Ninja!

Kaisermikeb - February 6, 2006 08:53 AM (GMT)
Taco ninja is pretty far from the con, but we talked to them and they agreed to extend the delivery range for that weekend, so we better make it worth their while!

At YoumaCon there was a scavenger hunt with cosplayers. The hunt started with a clue for a certain anime character and the participant was supposed to find someone cosplaying the character to get the next clue. Certain cosplayers were asked to volunteer to carry clue cards. The were asked to hang out in the hallways for a certain period of time to make it easier to find them.

Just an idea. We thought it was fun.
