Title: Advertising - sex sells
ijedi7 - January 24, 2006 02:14 AM (GMT)
Well not really, but it did get your attention.
Have we tried advertising through Drexel? And how about the libraries? I know the Grandview Public Library has a collection of manga and anime they loan out. We might be able to find places there, if we promote the whole "literacy" and "art" aspects of anime and manga.
:lolguy:
EnishiYukishirolover - January 24, 2006 02:31 AM (GMT)
The clark county libraries has Manga and Anime that they loan out
~Ayaji~ - January 24, 2006 04:05 AM (GMT)
So does the Portsmouth Public Library...and I know the guy in charge of the YA sections, so I am telling him which series to get to improve the selection (he's my art teacher)
So far the collection has doubled in size in the past month and a half^^
kalajessta - January 24, 2006 04:22 AM (GMT)
Actually the Cuyahoga and Cleveland Public Libraries have been loaning out anime and manga for some time now. A few years ago it was stirctly Sailor Moon, but they've expanded slowly.
EnishiYukishirolover - January 24, 2006 05:13 AM (GMT)
Same with Springfield's...My school has had three whole rows just on Anime and Manga, and japanese culture and history.
Kaisermikeb - January 24, 2006 10:22 AM (GMT)
Cincinnati has an awesome selection at times.
Ijedi, got any plans to take advantage of this?
Also, I agree that sex sells. I think we should all go to our local libraries and lay a librarian!
rpb3000 - January 24, 2006 11:24 AM (GMT)
Yeah, Lakewood Public Library's got a huge section of anime & manga, and Mechanicsburg Public Library's even taken off with it and has a sizeable amount for a small town.
So all us library geeks, lets go give 'em some flyers.
Or something.
If we could get recognition in their event guide dealies that'd be megacool. But I doubt it.
Kaisermikeb - January 24, 2006 12:21 PM (GMT)
Since we have far more than our fair share of academic type stuff, we have legitimate-ish reasons to talk to libraries and stuff about this sort of thing.
I mean... what other cons have as many professors lined up as we do?
EnishiYukishirolover - January 24, 2006 06:46 PM (GMT)
At Northwestern High School, like I had printed off one flyer, and copied it random times (Like 90) and left them there, and when I was working on a laptop, like a bunch of people were taking them and signing a sheet saying that they would probably be going.

Don't worry, I love you too. Or, at least, I love the idea of you.
EnishiYukishirolover - January 24, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
:wtf:  Whoa...this is not good.
Kaisermikeb - January 24, 2006 11:12 PM (GMT)
you make me smile dildodo
EnishiYukishirolover - January 24, 2006 11:16 PM (GMT)
Dildodo - January 24, 2006 11:17 PM (GMT)
If that's your way of starting a threesome then... I'm sorry but I'm going to have to decline on the basis of virtuality.
P.S. For the record, "You make me smile dildodo" is the single funniest line I've read all day. Sounds like a perverted hippy song lmao.

But I think you want to me to catch you, and, somehow, will make it so I end up catching you. Am I right ;) ?
EnishiYukishirolover - January 25, 2006 02:01 AM (GMT)
Are you just seeing how far I can be like pushed until I flirt back with you anymore than what I already am?
rpb3000 - January 25, 2006 03:29 AM (GMT)
You know, you two are really cute. :-P

Alright, Enishi if you double post one more time I'm breaking your thumbs!
Read everything before you post so that you can take care of it in a single post, and also so if someone else said what you wanted to you don't have to repeat them. If you do HAVE to add something to what you said, click the edit button.

That was flirting? I... I'm sorry I couldn't tell.
"And lo, the Dildodo looked upon the face of beauty.
And it stayed its hand from killing.
And from that day, it was as one charged."
- Old Arabian Proverb
So, please, flirt away. And continue being cute, for rpb3000's sake.
Misato_Katsuragi - January 25, 2006 11:33 PM (GMT)
Where can I get a copy of the flyer? I have a bunch of people who come up and ask me about upcoming cons all the time. (They can tell i know, isn't it loverly?)
I could get at least 100 people to come up to con, as long as they have info. Their parents want hard copies of stuff, just so they know I'm not going to kidnap and kill their kids... Silly parents.
Anyways, I know a lot of people that are interested in coming. And the fact that I can play the "my-birthday-is-the-sunday-of-con-so-you-have-to-come-with-me" card helps a lot. (Oh happy day) Soo... point me to the flyers, s'il vous plait!

Meanie, sorry then, I won't double post again, and I've tried the edit button, that's when my computer freezes.

Kaisermikeb - January 26, 2006 01:30 AM (GMT)
On the con site (http://www.animepunch.org ) if you go to the info section there is a subsection titled fliers, where you can download two of our flier designs.
I'll hold you to that "100 people" thing though! ^_^

Funny you should mention the Drexel, as Animate! just received a mail today from them promoting Drexel Gateway. I've forwarded it to both Punchtastic! and active-members.
Edit: active-members is not an Anipunch list, so you don't have to subscribe to it.
Misato_Katsuragi - January 27, 2006 02:24 AM (GMT)
Well, Mike, I got a guy who's going to make 200 copies of the flyer for me at his work... for FREE.
I'll hand them out all the time. I'll have 100 people by the time con rolls around. I promise.
I'll make them all wear T-shirts that say "Jessie made me come to con, and now I'm bankrupt!" or something ridiculously stupid like that...
Joy. Can I have a present if I do that? Really?
Kaisermikeb - January 27, 2006 03:55 AM (GMT)
If you get 100 to show up who wouldn't have otherwise, then yeah, we'll figure something out!
Misato_Katsuragi - January 27, 2006 09:09 PM (GMT)
Thanks, you're my hero Mike!
Hehe. *huggles*

I got to Northwestern High School (and I think I know who you are) but I have never seen any of these flyers.
EnishiYukishirolover - January 28, 2006 02:17 AM (GMT)
That's kinda scary...
I've been passing them out during the day, Farmer had put some out and when I came back they were gone, so I don't know what had happened.
Ruhtra - January 28, 2006 02:44 AM (GMT)

EnishiYukishirolover - January 28, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
