Title: Panels

Kaisermikeb - February 20, 2005 06:54 AM (GMT)
Before we fill out our panel room programming, are there any panels that you would like to host or see? No suggestion is too far our of line, at least that is what I'll say until I tell you no, but it's always worth asking!

WhereTheBuffet - February 22, 2005 02:04 AM (GMT)
Where's The Buffet? would like to offer up our talents as panelists to help out for this con!

Our normal con panels can be found over at WhereTheBuffet.com. Search and let us know if any of those sound interesting to you.

Also, we are planning out new panels for up and coming conventions, including one on different types of manga that can be found all over the world, as well as a panel on self publishing.

Though our favorite panels will always be our Yaoi Panel, and our Hentai Panel, and may we suggest that these be run later at night.

Feel free to contact us if these interest you at all!

Kaisermikeb - February 22, 2005 05:16 AM (GMT)
Great to hear from you guys, although your hentai and yaoi panels are legendary, I'm afraid this year we are going for 100% family friendly, so those are out.

I would love to hear about some of your new material though!
Heh, unfortunatly most of your other stuff, NBP already does, and well... you know... if you want something done right... <G>

Actually, one thing I was planning on doing was our Parents Guide panel, but I know you guys have at least some experience with that one too, so possibly a joint effort, or even just letting you guys go at it.

Also, I'd love to hear about your new material!

WhereTheBuffet - February 24, 2005 05:55 AM (GMT)
Some of the new panels we have in mind, include a look at manga from around the world, including France, China, and Korea. A lot of people forget that Japanese Manga is not the only kind out there. We'll take a look at the different types, and tie them all together. Fun and educational as always.

Our Japanese Culture panel is a pretty standard panel on, well, Japanese Culture. Taking a look at the art, history and people of Japan, and how it relates to anime.

One of our members is involved in publishing small press comics, and would like to present a panel informing other people how to get out there and get your artwork published.

I'm sure we could find a way to work together to make an awesome Parent's Guide panel.

Let me know if any of those sound appealing.

Kaisermikeb - February 24, 2005 06:27 AM (GMT)
I am definatly interested in the publishing one. If you could send me the information for that one that would be great.

I'm not sure about the culture panel, and as it happens one of my girls has been pushing to do one of those too (she majors in something related to that at UC), so if we have one it might be a colaboration, depending on what she feels like. I might want to do a co-op on that one just because I know how I like our panels to run, and you guys arn't too far off from that, about half the time at least. Her I'm not so sure about, not in a bad way, I just havn't seen her in action.

Neil was going to do his Alt. Manga one, (which has quite a bit of emphasis on Boilet and stuff), but I can see if he would want any extra help. Just a warning though, he likes to talk, so you might not get much air time. Also, the emphasis is slightly different, but also sort of the same, so I'm not sure.

I'd like to talk to you in person about the parents guide to anime one, since that can be a bit of a sensitive issue.

Hope enjoy working with you guys!

pandad102 - June 13, 2005 04:24 AM (GMT)
Maybe if we get Pandable and ED I know we have Ed already and whoever else we get to DJ maybhe we can get them to host a panel about types of cool music they will be playing and we can all just chat bout betting our knowlege of cool music. I planel about Anime Music, J-pop, Rock and techno pretty much

Kyo_RBG - June 13, 2005 04:33 AM (GMT)
I want to see a panel on the evolution of the Anime culture in the US since the big releases I.E. Akira.

Craig - June 13, 2005 05:18 AM (GMT)
Panels I want to see. LeeChan's Hentai and her Yaoi panel. I couldn't get in at Ohayocon because it was a month before my 18th. I'd like to see Your Anime Sucks since there is always new anime releases for people to bitch at.

Panels I'd like to host/help host. Console Wars! Your Anime Sucks. I would gladly host a panel/open discussion on Pirating Anime and the morals of such. It would go on discussing easons as to why people do it, ways that they do it, possible downfalls and plusses of it.

Kyo_RBG - June 13, 2005 05:21 AM (GMT)
I like the Idea of the panel on Pirating anime and morals that is something that would be great to sit in on.

narultimatehero - June 13, 2005 12:07 PM (GMT)
There are a couple panels i wanna see..
I definetely want a Shonen Jump Panel, for all the various shonen jump series
I also think a Horror panel for all the various horror, ultragoth anime out there would be great..
The absolute best panel though would be the Food panel, all about japanese food, maybe with live cooking demonstrations? FREE SAMPLES!!

Kaisermikeb - June 13, 2005 05:40 PM (GMT)
Panels I think would be good that you guys have just said:

Consol wars: Why the Game cube pwnz! (or whatever)
US fandom culture (we're actually putting a "history of US fandom" panel together at NBP right now)
Morals of anime (An issue I am seriously into)
We will have some sort of J-rock or J-pop panel
We have invited Leechan and company to do their awesome panels
On that note, they also did a Silent Hill panel that was fairlly cool from what I've heard. Maybe they can expand it into a horror panel. If not, I'm sure we can find someone.
If you can find someone to host a shonen jump panel, go for it! It's hard to find hard core fans in my circles!

As for the food one, I'm not sure we could pull that off with samples... and without samples what's the bloody point!

Keep the cool ideas coming!

Kyo_RBG - June 13, 2005 05:47 PM (GMT)
Maybe anime's impact on Gaming as well. I've seen quite a few anime inspired games that changed the way we play.
include:
Pen and Paper
TCG and CCG
VGs
Larp

narultimatehero - June 13, 2005 08:06 PM (GMT)
Oh come on. the food one has to be the best (sigh). I think I know someone who can host a shonen jump panel, or I could do it.

RBGC-Ender - June 13, 2005 08:49 PM (GMT)
just wondering if you guys want to us RBG guys to do a panel on our battle stuff???

Craig - June 14, 2005 08:43 AM (GMT)
Mike: Say the word and I'll begin preparations and research for the panel.

Yuffie - June 14, 2005 03:42 PM (GMT)
-nervous look- Maybe a panal on, 'You've found a boiling pit of oil. Which anime character do you send in?' and rant about the characters that people hate?

Kaisermikeb - June 14, 2005 04:38 PM (GMT)
Craig: Which panel?

Yuffie, I'm not upposed to it, but I think Hellsing suggested what a "what character would you like to see killed them most" panel.

I propose we form these into a trial. We will have some judges sit up on a panel, and listen to the audiences requests to have an anime character put to death.

Everyone will have to present their case as to why this character is worthy of death, and then the court floor will be opened up to anyone willing to defend said character. At the end of the trial the judges will pass judegement and one character will be sentanced to death!!

Hey! Maybe if we find someone who is really good at making piniatas we can sort of combine the events! Like have the "trial" on friday, the have the "execution" on saturday or something!

Thoughts?

*note... PLEASE START NEW THREADS FOR AWESOME IDEAS!!!! IT WILL MAKE IT SO MUCH EASIER FOR US A YEAR FROM NOW WHEN WE HAVE TO SORT EVERYTHING OUT AND MAKE A SCHEDULE!!!

Yuffie - June 14, 2005 04:53 PM (GMT)
Oops. That would be awesome. For example you could say Miaka from Fushigi Yugi for screaming Tamahome so much she kills eardrums, right?

Craig - June 14, 2005 06:08 PM (GMT)
Mike: I'd gladly do the morals of anime panel and the console wars. Of course I could use some help withthe console woars. And I'm not agaisnt having multiple people doing a panel with me.

narultimatehero - June 15, 2005 07:59 PM (GMT)
Yeah, the trial could go along with my pinata idea. except the pinata would have to be made after the trial and there might not be enough time.

Kyo_RBG - June 29, 2005 10:06 AM (GMT)
Maybe a panel on why you shouldn't try to set up your own event at anime cons

Aurora - July 11, 2005 04:20 PM (GMT)
Maybe a panel on What an anime con exactly is? I know it's a rather dumb idea, but my sister went with us to Otakon for 1 day last year, and she was confused. She didn't have the slightest idea what it was about (even though she knows what anime is) so maybe it's a good idea for first time con goers?

Craig - July 11, 2005 08:20 PM (GMT)
Or atleast a "Newb ies Guide to a con". My first con I was totally lost. I simpy walked around. I hadn't the slightest idea where everything is etc etc.

Aurora - July 11, 2005 08:48 PM (GMT)
I'll even volunteer to host it!

narultimatehero - July 11, 2005 09:15 PM (GMT)
Yeah, thats good, it will make new people feel more comfortable, not feel weirded out like they sometimes do

Kyo_RBG - July 16, 2005 09:57 PM (GMT)
If you do something like that newbies to con, you should also get a few people together that some of them can hang out with until they get comfortable with the scene. I know if it wasn't for Chibi Jae, Mike, and donel (Colossal con) I probably would have never gone to another con.

narultimatehero - July 18, 2005 05:02 PM (GMT)
I think we should have an Anime Soundtrack panel. You know, talk about the best soundtracks and worst in anime.

Kaisermikeb - July 18, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
That's a good idea, Kyo. Or maybe have a mixer for people to meet new people to hang out with.

I like your soundtrack idea panel too, Naru

Kyo_RBG - July 19, 2005 03:27 AM (GMT)
The soundtrack thing sounds damn cool nice one naru

and if you did the ani punch big otaku type thing, I'd be willing to have someone along and i'm pretty sure there would be others

Kaisermikeb - July 19, 2005 06:11 AM (GMT)
big otaku thing? Which is that again?

Heh, I still want to gather all the ohio conchairs (Sugoi, Ikasu, Collosal, Pai, Matsuri, and of course us) to have a big trivia contest to see which con leaders are the best fans!

Of course it would be difficult to prove a fair fight...

narultimatehero - July 24, 2005 01:06 AM (GMT)
Lol that's a great idea, see who's a good fan and who's a poser...

Craig - July 24, 2005 10:44 AM (GMT)
Go back to grade school please. Calling someone a "poser" only means you are insecure with what you believe. If you need to validate yourself by proving you're the bigger nerd then you're pretty sad.

Kaisermikeb - July 24, 2005 06:23 PM (GMT)
I disagree.

I think it would be perfectly fair to call Naru a poser! <g>

Either way, I use the word poser all the time, and I am of course this forums "cool-standard", it it looks like you just arn't in 'the know'

RBGCloud - July 26, 2005 03:41 AM (GMT)
I wanna have a Yaoi panel! I'll host it too, with some help, since I'll be legal by then. ^_^

Craig - July 27, 2005 01:34 AM (GMT)
I'd rather see Leechan and her boyfriend's Yaoi and Hentai panels. I've heard they are very fun.

posyden - October 22, 2005 05:33 PM (GMT)
hmm..I think I'm noticing a pattern here....people wan't Yaoi...weird how no one has mentioned Yuri..oh nevermind I just did :ninja:

Kaisermikeb - October 23, 2005 05:39 PM (GMT)
We're working on it!

This is an ongoing quest that is held over from Ikasu con. To find a talented Yuri panel!

RBGCloud - November 30, 2005 07:05 AM (GMT)
I vote for a yuri panel, we get two (or more) hot chicks up on stage to have sex. That'd work for me!

Kaisermikeb - November 30, 2005 09:27 AM (GMT)
you volunteering?

RBGCloud - November 30, 2005 09:37 PM (GMT)
You only wish, Mike. But somehow, I knew you'd say that. No, I'm not anywhere near sexy enough for public sex.
I will, however, help you find some girls willing to do it.
(jk, it's probably totally illegal.)
