Title: Argg! I think ADV just cancelled another manga
Description: Anybody seen Cromartie vol. 4?

ADV just drives me crazy with their manga division! I think that they just put the Cromartie High manga on hiatus. The reason that I think this is because Rightstuf just put vol. 4 on their discontinued list before it even came out. Anyone have this volume, or am I doomed to have ADV cancel every manga title that I try to buy from them? Argg!

Weird, that was their big thing for a while. All they talked about, like Read or Die. Maybe they realized it didn't really stay funny?

OK, this is weird. At Rightstuf they have a listing for volumes 1-3 and 5 coming out in December, but no volume 4. No other retailer seems to have that particular volume either. I wonder what happened to volume 4. Any ideas?

All I know about ADV is that they're trying to get rid of as much product as humanly possible. They've realized the American Anime market is completely oversaturated and they need to cut their losses as quickly as possible before the whole thing goes bottoms up.

If you're talking about the big sale, they do that every year.

Havn't they already had 3 "big" sales in the last 6 months?

I've heard that a lot of the stuff that they sell in those sales are items that are sent back from various retail stores. For example, if a store ends up with a whole bunch of volume 3s of a series than they can return them to ADV for a refund. This means ADV would take a loss if they didn't do something with them, and since the retailers don't need them they sell them direct to the consumer at or near cost. This probably isn't a great thing for ADV, but it probably isn't too destructive either. Oftentimes, they only have certain volumes which would prompt the buyer to purchase the others at retail. I'm currently hoping that the individual Eva platinum volumes will be on sale sometime.

I just hope that ADV doesn't pick up the Gantz manga because I want somebody to pick it up that will actually finish it. I'm really into the anime, and I hear the manga is even better.

Hmm, it looks like Rightstuf is the only place not selling volume 4. This is odd because they seem to be selling volume 5. Anyway, it doesn't look like Cromartie has been cancelled yet because I just picked up volume 4 at Waldenbooks today. On a side note, volume 4 = best manga cover ever!
