I have hung around the forums enough, so I might edit my reply at a later date. Mike's the best. He's got the con. I'd give Dildodo second though.

Edit: Seems a bit arrogant though, and if there's one thing I hate it's arrogant people. If there are two things I hate it's arrogant people and the way I run my own life. If there are three things I hate it's the first two, plus whatever happens to be bothering me at the current moment.

He knows it's a not a haiku, I made haiku's in 7th grade in English, so I consider myself a bit of an expert on them. Another thing, I've read enough forums to know when someone's making a crappy joke and expecting people to find it funny.

Haiku's are Japanese, so why did we make them in English? I think someone should have named that class "Literature and Writing".

I'm not arrogant. I'm just self assured :). And yes, I knew that wasn't "technically" a haiku but I didn't write it because I wanted people to find it funny. I just wrote it because I felt like it (this has nothing to do with arrogance or me running your life).

There's nothing wrong with taking a haiku structure and trying to use it to write something in English. Besides, this becomes necessary when one tries to translate a haiku.

I'd post my real haikus here but I'm afraid they are to explicit. I'd rather recite them in person.

Yeah, those two haikus I made back then shocked the entire class, one with the dark comedy, the other with recockulous violence.

Too bad I can't remember the snowflake one, but the rabbit one I even had to draw a picture for as part of an assignment. I'm amazed that one didn't get me sent to the school counselor's office.

In English, we say the haiku form has a set number of syllables per line. But that's not how it is in Japanese - it's a set number of mora. Different thing, but mora are something much more important in the Japanese language than in English, and since most English speakers don't even know what they are, English haiku's are stuck with a bastardizes haiku format which is based on syllables instead.

In my opinion, English version of haiku format isn't such a bad compromise. Of course, with Dildodo you don't have to compromise about anything.
