Title: So... how difficult is it to organize a 'con?
Description: I'm looking your way, AP staffers!
Hapoppo - May 10, 2008 05:11 PM (GMT)
Well this last AP was fun, but it made me realize one thing: there are comic 'cons, anime 'cons, music 'cons, what have you, but in the spirit of the more casual conventions, the only thing I could think of in the way of video games was PAX (Penny Arcade Expo, for all you casual gamers out there). I wanted to establish something like that here in Ohio, and I was wondering just what it takes to start a convention centered around my own favorite sport. So... anyone feeling... edumacational?
And hopefully this is the right thread for this. I didn't know if it belonged here or in the video games thread, since both seem equally appropriate for it.

Try and catch me on AIM some time, I can give you all the gritty details should you so desire.

There is actually a con like this, while still very small. They need to advertise I'm guessing, I didn't find out about it until after it happened this year.
Called UDcon, and sponsered by the one and only University of Dayton.
...just a shameless plug. xD

@Kaiser: Did you mean your message board IM? Your AIM name is unlisted here.
@Yuffie: I'll have to look into that... still, I think it'd be nice if Columbus had its own.

Hmm. After a cursory search, I was unable to find any information about UDcon...got links?
And yeah, a video gaming con in the Columbus area might be a nice addition...

Bascially, it's at by UD, three day con, and small enough to still be there. When I have more info, I can post it.

We were just talking about a video game con, not animation and video gaming.
I'm also going to point out Blizzcon
http://www.blizzard.com/us/press/080512.html as an example of a video game con, but not one you can really copy.
