Title: SPEED RACER
Description: Lets all go see it
KaiserMikeB - May 7, 2008 05:54 AM (GMT)
Alright, it's released in theaters Friday, which means that there will be a midnight Thursday showing.
I suggest we all go see it Thursday night!
Those who are in the know meet at the house at 9. After that we'll head over to Bento at 10:30, kick back a drink or two, and then head to the theater around 11:15 or so. Anoyone can join us at any step of the way. We'll have advanced scouts to make sure there isn't too much of a line. If there is, we bump our timeline up and move to Drexel earlier. Of course, we'll be seeing it at the campus gateway theater.
Wear your favorite Armageddicon garb, if you have any!
See you there!

Ill be there, i don't have anything to do.
Rakuen - May 7, 2008 02:30 PM (GMT)
Unfortunately I'm still unable to bend the Space/Time Continuum to my will, so there's no way in hell I could make it. Unless I drove through hell. That would certainly be interesting.
Human after all - May 7, 2008 04:13 PM (GMT)
Technically, it's the Landmark Gateway now, not the Drexel.
Human after all - May 8, 2008 01:05 PM (GMT)
It's. . . getting really bad reviews. I'm still going to see it though.
Drakitha - May 8, 2008 01:19 PM (GMT)
Oh sad. I'll leaving for Cleveland around 8, so I can't make it. ;__;
ZotQuix - May 8, 2008 06:14 PM (GMT)
I'm down...will probably have to meet you guys there at 11:15 though.

Yeah...definitely going be there this weekend anyway. But I'm one of those people who go just to see the heart throbs on screen.
Like the Mach 5.
KaiserMikeB - May 9, 2008 12:28 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure if I'm actually going to hit bento or not, what with the rain, and with thursday and all, but I might. I'll leave a note on the door either way, saying where we are in case people show up to the house after we leave.
Human after all - May 9, 2008 06:48 AM (GMT)
THAT WAS AWWWWWWWESSSOOMMMME!!!!!!1! IT WAS LIKE VROOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!11! AND VRAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Human after all - May 9, 2008 06:48 AM (GMT)
But really, it was certainly better than what I expected from the reviews coming in.
KaiserMikeB - May 9, 2008 06:49 AM (GMT)
My eyes have seen the coming of the glory of the Lord.
Seriously, that was the most MAN movie I have ever seen.
I loved almost every second of it.
Miccy - May 9, 2008 08:25 PM (GMT)
I wish I could have gone with you guys! Or at all for that matter...
But then I wanted to go with Nick to see it this weekend, but plans foiled.
I shall see Speed Racer! Sometime soon.
Yuffie - May 10, 2008 10:54 PM (GMT)
I thought it was pretty amazing. I don't know about man or anything like that, but I'm all for the fighting for what's right, against all odds stuff. And it was executed so freakingly well.
I really like the heroianes in the movie as well, seeing strong female characters is always nice, and Trixie was just great.
I don't care what anyone else says, probably one of the best movies I've seen in a while, and that makes my favorite movie list. <3 The rest of my group didn't seemed as thrilled though except my mom...we sang the Speed Racer theme right in the theater along with the ending credits together. xD
Human after all - May 11, 2008 02:06 AM (GMT)
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can see why the critics might not like it, but who cares.
Yuffie - May 11, 2008 11:26 AM (GMT)
I think basically, the critics aren't anime fans. Rather bold statement, I know.
Human after all - May 11, 2008 06:33 PM (GMT)
Roger Ebert tends to give anime titles that make it over to the states good reviews and even has some (My Neighbor Totoro, Grave of the Fireflies) listed among his greatest movies collection. He didn't review Speed Racer though (his editor did) because of his health and film festivals.
Yuffie - May 11, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
Huh, interesting.
The DDN reviewers hate animated stuff, I swear they hate anything kid-related. Even panned Rataouille. o.o And Ironman.
Human after all - May 11, 2008 07:22 PM (GMT)
I stopped paying attention to my local movie critics when I noticed that they were wildly inconsistent with what I liked and were just in general bad writers. Plus with this whole Internet thing, one has easy access to the big national ones. And I love Ebert for comments like this:
Q. Readers want to know if the Movie Answer Man is too PC to review "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed"?
Ruddy Spencer, Tucson, Ariz.
A. The last I heard, it is not considered Politically Correct to agree with Darwin. I think it is more like, oh, intelligent.
Yuffie - May 11, 2008 07:47 PM (GMT)
Lol, that's a good one.
Yeah, I disregard them myself since I have never seen eye to eye with a DDN reviewer. But my mom uses what they say to decide if we go. x.x
Miccy - May 25, 2008 01:55 AM (GMT)
I've heard that people really didn't like Speed Racer. But OMG I loved it. We saw it last weekend, and seriously, I really, really liked it.
Even the ending credits were the shit. We watched them all.
Drakitha - May 25, 2008 06:34 AM (GMT)
I still need to see this.
