Once again, I, the official forum dumbass, am seeking help from someone who (hopefullly) knows more than I, on a certain subject.
For anyone who might have seen the last episode of Chrono Crusade, please explain to me what happened. Now obviously, you don't want to post anything spoilerific on the board , so just e-mail me or something, but please, if you know, tell me. My anime deep meaning translator is off-line half the time, so philisophical sybolisms, metaphores, and obscure references often elude my understanding.

Without being spoilerific, I will tell you that it is a depressingly WTF ending, because it continued far past the appropriate stopping point. Daisuke Moriyama had better have some sort of sequel/spinoff/movie, planned, or something, because he left things totally f%^*ed up.

I actually liked the ending... depressing, yes, but I thought it fit the anime well. Still waiting to see how the manga ends, though.
But as for explaining it, I won't even try. I'm horrible at explaining things, especially if you want all the stuff like symbolism and obscure references. I have come to my own conclusions, but as I said, trying to expain proves difficult (I tried it with my sis who had a similar reaction to the end that you did and I crashed and burned rather quickly).
But I did hear the manga is way different. So far I'm on book 6 out of 8 and it is headed in a different direction. Perhaps you should check that out. A lot of people have said they were much more satisfied with it's ending.

Crashed and burned huh? No offense, but that sounds like the last volume of the anime. Personally, I didn't think it fit the series at all, and I'm not surprised that the manga ends differently. And I would hope it would be better. I have volume six, and I'm waiting for the next one, but I wasn't sure how many there would be, Eight sounds about right though. I noticed that the story between the anime, and the manga seems to fork noticabley at about book five, and disks four-six. Largely due to time differences, and events whos orders were basically screwed over randomly. But in anime six, the story gets its first big change, which, (in my opinion,) leads to the shows downward spiral. Althogh it does leave an opening for more than one sequal/ spinoff, doesn't it.

I think it fits, but it is sad...
It's a great series. I could burn the last episode to a disk for you, if you'd like.

The ending of the manga and the tv series are completely different. So if you're unhappy with the tv series ending, read the manga. But I was pissed when I saw the ending of Chrno back in 2003. I was like O.O. And I nearly threw a shoe in my computer screen. I hate endings like that, especially when they're completly opposite of the manga.
