A perpetual anime con?

I mean seriously, most cons are their best Saturday right? a nd soon as they get into gear, its time to shut them down...

So what if Ohayocon, Anime Punch, and the Matsuricon peopel all got together found a very nice location, and make a con that runs almost every weekend, and using the new technology, run it like a museum, just have a monthly subscription charge put on your creidt card. just jump start every Thursday night, and scale things back a little on monday morning. sat and sun could both be done full bore then.


Of couse there would be certain weeks during the year, probably being labaled as the original cons, that would be "bigger" then other weeks, but things like the game room and what not could be left set up, and it would just slowly get better and better.............and you could even run panels an stuff during the week.

I go to Anime Club every weekend and that's good for me.

I really think it would get old after a while. It would turn out to be too much of a good thing; plus, you have to remember, staff volunteers to do this, and doing one every weekend would turn out to be too much for them. Unless, of course, staff started getting paid, and unfortunately, I just don't think anime cons make enough profit to support wages for the staff.

Yeah, what Drakie said. Going to anime club every Friday is way more than enough for me to keep me content (and sane) during breaks in-between cons. Staffers also have these things called lives, which involve jobs, relationships, and family. Staffers like having lives outside of cons too ._.

If you like the perpetual con idea, just go to OSU's anime club every Friday night. We show/play enough there to keep anyone content.

I'd be more interested in like an "Otaku Club" setting; something open most nights from like 7-3, with a bar, TVs playing awesome, and video games. Something along the lines of a GameWorks with an anime spin. Toss in a DJ Booth, stage, and dance floor for the occasional rave and guest musician, and you'd have yourself a pretty damn awesome club that I'd certainly frequent.

yeah. It's con season and my wallet is bare enough as is from calling off so much at work. And I think part of the joy of Convention is the anticipation before hand. As much as it would be cool, Cons wouldnt be as fun and would get old.

I like Jon's idea though. An anime based nightclub perhaps.

I'm hoping to work with Maggie in the coming year to get together more events for Animate! in addition to watching anime every week.

We could all get together and go out in are cosplays, juts like silly little things.

I think that would be fun in general. We should do it.

I plan on acquiring Storm trooper armor in the near future and think it would be fun to wander aimlessly.

Yeah.. There are no anime clubs around here, and I only get to go to one con a year.. But I still think one every weekened would get old fast.

Actually, we had an anime event at a nightclub up in lakewood (cleveland area) a long number of years ago. There was also an anime themed club event at metropolis that I helped to host. It was a pretty fun time and I wouldn't mind doing a nightclub event again.

I personally live in Canton myself, so I can't go to Columbus that often anyway.
