Well now. This was my second Anime Punch and my first time staffing a convention. I must say, I think I took a few years off my life. Despite that, it was the best convention I've ever been to.
Registration went quite well. Before the convention, I was dreading having to sit in the lobby all day, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. Though if I hadn't planned it out, it could have gone horribly wrong. The assembly line, I think, was the most efficient way to do it. It made things run smoother than I thought it would. Being at the end made it easy to guide the rest of the line and address any problems that arose. Amazingly, we only has a few people give us trouble and the lines went fast. This, I was thankful of. Also the fact that the rest of staff didn't forget about us all the way up front. Oddly, I never really wanted to leave, mostly for the fact that I had a system going, and it was working, and I was frightened of anyone messing it up. Which happened a few times. I get weird about things like that.
I was disappointed that I didn't really get to wear my Cosplay. I worked so hard to finish it by AP, and it was my first one. I guess I'll just have to wear the hell out of it at Anime Central. I was amused by the cosplay thing though, in some ways. It seemed every time there was a lull in work to be done, I'd be able to change into it. Then as soon as I got back, things would get crazy. That was mostly Saturday night however.
I really enjoyed being a staff member. Corey was irritated all weekend because the only time he really saw me was when I was sleeping or taking a break to eat. But I treated this like I was at work. And there was work to be done..so sadly I kind of sacrificed spending time with him for it. I warned him full well that I was coming here to work. Making Punch awesome for everyone who attended was very top on my priority list. I was so proud to be helping run something that I myself get so excited about. I love conventions, and I hope to make Anime Punch the best convention it can be. Well, we are 1337 after all.
As much as I helped this year, I hope to do even more next year. As a first year staffer it was interesting to hit the ground running, but I wouldn't want it any other way. If my time and effort is going into Punch, then all my time and effort is going into Punch
There were several things that disappointed me over the weekend though. To me, it seems, the Anime Convention crowd is deteriorating to much. I know Punch is supposed to be an escape from the new wave of people, but it doesn't seem at that point yet. I'm hoping after a few years of gaining attendees, Anime Punch will show for what it truly is, and will be a place where true Anime fans can frolic. I don't know how to put my opinion about the current congoers into words. But I swear I'm going to punch the first high pitched catgirl screech I hear at Acen.
That was an interesting thing about working registration, is that you got to see everyone. You also get to talk to everyone! Some of which, if out of my own accord, I would not otherwise converse with. I was glad that we are aimed at a college aged audience because I had a tendency to swear every tie something went wrong. I knew I shouldn't but It happens. I end up swearing in most company.
I think I'm sorting to ramble.
OH! One thing I was really sad about was that I missed Kyo'kun's Whose line. I go every con and was sad I missed it. But Con Ops called.
And I was reunited with old friends and made some new ones as well.
And made up for the stress and lack of sleep by getting gorram drunk on Sunday night. And I kept my shirt on too.
That's enough for tonight, it seems to have turned into rambling. But I can't wait to make Anime Punch 09 better than this year! :domo:
I liked getting to meet you. ^_^
Me too! I'm sorry it took so long for that art trade, I can mail you another earring too. I need to get some of those clear things you put on the back on dangly earrings.

Oh, no need to apologize, it took me long enough to do mine, and I got to see you in person, so it was worth it.
I have to say, nice job on the earring, it's surprisingly light. I've been wearing it in my left ear all week long. ^_^
Although having a pair with be excellent.
Lol. I'll send you one, unless you'll be at Anime Central. I lost one too so I have an extra.
Still too young and it's too far to go. ^^;
