Was there really 1337 paying attendees? If so, that'd be crazy awesome XD

It was incredible. Some guy registered at closing again to make the number 1337 and received an ovation from the audience / some anime stuff from Mike.

Dude, that is freakin' awesome!!!! For me at least it didn't seem like there was that many there. But while you walk around, it just doesn't seem like it. But its was kind of a shock to see how many squashed into the main room for all the skits. And even then, not all of them were in there.
sesshouga - April 16, 2008 02:15 AM (GMT)
Yeah I couldn't get into cosplay because it was full. D:

eh, not much perosnal secuirty issues either, Although if proximity detectors are used at any time,I'm against it!!!!!!!!
i didn;t like wearing a tracking device around, but using hand scanners, it makes sense.
If you start gettingothe point where it like, there's 50 people in room such and such(not a con roon, I mean and then send someone up to bust everyone for a party..that's not a good thing..,.(Since a lot of conventions stupidlyban room parties< AP isn't one of them)
Novia - April 16, 2008 07:28 PM (GMT)
Rofl, when i saw the 1337 i thought someone had lied to a reporter or something but i guess not. That's incredible! Armegeddicon III has made history >:D
What's our next goal?
On a side note - A staff member told me that if he saw me with my Crotch Badge and had to scan me that he'd hit me in the "groin".
I Lol'd xD!

Go proximity detectors!I approve of this invasion of privacy.
lycwolf - April 16, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
Proximity is in no way an invasion of privacy. The system still works the same and no personal data is linked to the ID. And if you would read up on RFID, proximity only refers to something with a few foot radius. As in, door sensors that would only read what went through the door without using people to scan. These would be used for general purpose areas that don't really need badges checked but we want data from them.
There is nothing that could tell were each person is in the hotel or how many are in your hotel room. This system (being completely passive) would never be able to do that.

that's fine then...I meant over reaching ones...
if it just for an entry way...no different then the hand scanners.

Yeah, our primary concern will always be your privacy and security of your information. Our secondary concern is making better programming based on this data. O, and those big prox systems that can track where everyone is, cost more than a new house, very impractical for anything like this.
I am seriously thinking of putting together as panel about all this for future cons.
