For those who don't, a famous science fiction author who's works included 2001:A Space Odyssey.
Rest in peace. -_-

The guy was a friggin' genius. I used to read his stuff all the time when I was a kid. He's done so much more than just "2001: A Space Odyssey" (or "Sentinel" as the original short story that inspired the novel and the movie was called).
He was also a real scientist, who championed space exploration and considered its societal implications. His solid scientific background really helped make his works seem very plausable and no doubt inspired many people.
I always loved this quote of his:

He's also the father of human made satilites :)

I would Rather be in a cult following him than Hubbard.
