I thought this might help with peoples cosplays. There is a shop at Polaris fashion center mall that sells replica swords from animes and video games. That have a lot of great anime swords really cheap right now like 50% off.

Hear is there web sight.

If you come buy the shop, stop by and say hello to me. I work at Zpets. :D

Yay polaris pride! I work over at Claire's and I haunt World Bazaar too. The only bad thing is that if you get say, Kenshin's reverse blade katana you will have to keep it sheathed and pretty much castrated for all intents and purposes less the con staff eat you. Even though the dealer room sells swords if you have even a little peek of "live steel" (aka anything metal that can hold a cutting edge) you stand a very good chance of having it either confiscated until the last day of the con or just plain kicked out

Btw if you stop by Claire's to say hi, it's pretty much impossible to not be able to figure out who I am xD

Except you're forgetting Anime Punch's rules on weapons, which is so long as you're not a moron, anything's fine.

I think Phyxi is either a noob or a moron, FYI. She doesn't seem to get our free and easy ways, much like Liza.

A friend I was with last year got yelled at for carrying around his sword (sheathed I might add in the box he bought it in from the dealer room) by a staff member at AP so we had to take it out. He wasn't swinging it around like an idiot, so I was pretty much baffled. The so called moron and noobness you mentioned is what we were told last year by a staff member. Maybe the communication between staff isn't quite what you want it to be if in fact the rule you operate by is completely different than what is being told to attendees ^_^

Being that Mike is, generally, close with his staffers, your friend probably got yelled at for looking like an idiot.

The only thing I can think might be the reason he was told to take it out of the con was that it was Sephiroth's sword and the box is pretty long (as is the sword).

I would need to know more about it to comment, though if you know who the staffer is, that would help me a lot. There are a few staffers who are used to other cons rules, or who are very headstrong and think we're doing it wrong so they make up their own, stricter rules. I try to curtail this, but when someone is out of line (staffer or attendee) I need to know who it was and what happened.

Of course, if the box was so large that it was causing a problem in the perpetually crowded hallways, then that WOULD be an issue. Our basic policy is to make sure everything is smooth and fun for everyone, and if someone has a big box, a giant cosplay, a fat ass, an illplaced photoshoot, or whatever else that is fucking up our Christmas our staff SHOULD respond to it.

I don't remember who the staffer was, I was just freaked out because I didn't want to get kicked out. We walked past the registration tables and a couple of other staffers though so I remember thinking that it was kinda strange that no one had said anything before that, but they were nice about telling us we had to take it out, they weren't assholes or anything about it.
