Props - Nothing that projects anything other than an aura of cool. Otherwise, just be smart.
And if the hotel staff or con staff says anything to you, then immediately do what they/we say. Other than that, have fun!
Sephious - February 13, 2008 12:55 AM (GMT)
alright...thankyou for the info....glad to see we can atleast bring them...alot of other places are kinda strict on the weapon department...and freak out if it's not covered in foam <_<
KaiserMikeB - February 13, 2008 01:44 AM (GMT)
To clarify a little further, since Codi talked about projectile weapons but not edged ones, for some reason...
Swords may be carried. If they are sharp they must be sheaved. To define sharp, if you can stick it down your pants and jump twice, it's not sharp. If you are not willing to try that, then it is.

Yeah.. Because swords are sold in the dealer room. So if we weren't allowed to carry them you'd have to buy one then do some covert secret agent stuff to escape with it alive.
I just had an idea with an event. xD It starts in the dealer room, the person grabs something they want, then they have to run a gauntlet to get out of the hotel with it. xD If they fail, thy must pay for it, if they suceed...they still have to pay for it, but they can say they won!
Ookami Yokai - February 13, 2008 03:02 PM (GMT)
What's to stop people from actually stealing from the Dealer's Room?
For example: taking a decoy item, while actually stealing another, possibly more expensive item.

Matt, please don't take that last post seriously!
MoonlightsCurse - February 13, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
So a foam buster sword is fine? XD

When am I ever serious of the internet? XD
KaiserMikeB - February 13, 2008 06:35 PM (GMT)
No, a foam buster sword is NOT fine because it is a fucking video game cosplay.
You are now officially fucking retarded.

Methinks that new group is coming closer and closer to reality...

New group? Called "Official Retard"?
Sephious - February 13, 2008 10:13 PM (GMT)
actually the buster sword was in the anime movie last order...
last order
KaiserMikeB - February 14, 2008 12:38 AM (GMT)
Yeah, but we don't play the cop-out game. Leave the technicalities to the lawyers and internet douche bags.
It was a pretty sweet short though!
Phyxi - February 20, 2008 07:34 PM (GMT)
It's pretty easy to deal with the sword rule, I just made one out of wood and carried that around. If you HAVE to have a weapon for your cosplay that's live steel for a photoshoot etc, just take it (and your photoshoot) off of the hotel grounds so there are no sticky situations :P
KaiserMikeB - February 21, 2008 07:03 AM (GMT)
Again... we're cool with live steal. So Phyxi, there is no need to take things off the hotel grounds. Anything sheaved is safe, and anything not sharp needs no sheath.
Vincent - February 21, 2008 12:14 PM (GMT)
So.. Can I just show up in a leather jacket and sunglasses with all my swords strapped to my back?
KaiserMikeB - February 21, 2008 08:50 PM (GMT)
So long as they are not sharp enough or hanging in a way that would cause harm to anyone accidentally, yes.
Though that would look dumb as hell.
Jnkolm - February 22, 2008 01:55 AM (GMT)
I take it that would mean that sharpened swords shouldn't be unsheaved then? Even for a minute- on con grounds anyway. Doesn't effect me, but thought someone in these interwebs might want some more clarity.

Seconded.
Vincent - February 23, 2008 10:53 AM (GMT)
I agree, it was just a random statement.
shippohinata - February 28, 2008 01:39 PM (GMT)
I have a Shurikin that I made out of a CD...Am I allowed to carry that with me?
bluenigma - February 28, 2008 03:39 PM (GMT)
Can you easily cut a small child's skin with it? If no, it's fine.
shippohinata - March 2, 2008 08:12 PM (GMT)
Uhhhhh....i dont think I can....
bluenigma - March 2, 2008 09:49 PM (GMT)
You should probably test that, just to be safe.

So go find a small child and invite him back to your place.. Tell him you want to try something, and that it might hurt at first but you aren't sure...
