Title: Pokemon Tournament Rules
Yuffie - February 9, 2008 02:08 AM (GMT)
Saturday, Time:2:00-3:30
This is how we're going to fight it out. ^_^
Pokemon Tournament Rules
1. All pokemon are to be level 50 and under. If you're pokemon are under 50, and the hotel wi-fi is working, we will push all pokemon up to level 50. Pokemon over level 50 are not permitted
2. This will an Overused and below tournament. Meaning the following pokemon are banned: Mewtwo, Mew, Ho-oh, Lugia, Latias, Latios, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Darkrai, Arceus, Manaphy, and Wobbuffet.
3.Single elimination tournament.
4.The following standard rules will be in place
-No duplicated pokemon
-Team must have different hold items
-Sleep clause, only pokemon asleep at a time
-No One Hit KO Moves
-No using Explosion, Self-Destruct, and Destiny Bond on final pokemon
5. A 3 vs 3, but you'll be allowed to choose from your team of six no changing your team during the tournament.
6.Action Replayed pokemon that have modified stats or unavaiable moves are not allowed, and very much frowned upon.
7.Breaking of any of the above rules, as well as harassing staff hosting the event will end with you being disqualified, and being asked to leave the event. Further harassment may result in your badge being confiscated.
8. Finalist will be checked for proper stats and movesets. So if you decide to cheat, and do it well enough to beat everyone, you'll get caught in the end. I wouldn't push it.
If we need an extra person, I may compete.
Prizes: Any of the following will be available as prizes. Winner and runner-up pick one, finalist gets first pick . Winner also gets a stickerbook.
A shiny eevee
A shiny beldum
Any questions, you can contact me on aim at Pokadotshadow, or pm me here. My e-mail is being really wonky, so that's not a good way to contact to me.
trainerjeff - February 14, 2008 05:51 PM (GMT)
you forgot a few overused
Yuffie - February 14, 2008 09:54 PM (GMT)
I don't believe I have. I know there's a few controversials I left in there, you may ask me about any of them, but since we're not running a strict tournament, they have been allowed.
trainerjeff - February 16, 2008 06:45 AM (GMT)
t-tar, garchomp, and salmence are 3 of the most OU pokemon out there
Yuffie - February 16, 2008 01:18 PM (GMT)
Yes, they are, but there is nothing wrong with those pokemon, and it would be very unfair for me to ban those. I might as well ban Blissey as well because I hate Blissey's guts, and while I'm at it, why don't I just randomly pick some more to ban.
However, T-tar is automatically left out since Pupitar doesn't evovle to 55, and the level cap is 50. Salamance doesn't evolve to 50, Garchomp 48.

xD Remember the stickerbook idea?
>:3 I think I'll buy one...
Anyway, does we need to tell you 6 pokemons? o.o I have which ones I'm using... >.>;;
Rakuen - March 28, 2008 04:14 PM (GMT)
Yep, full team of 6, pick 3 before each battle.
Vincent - March 28, 2008 04:30 PM (GMT)

Well, if you don't want to use six pokemon, you don't have to. It'd be pretty stupid to require six. But you can have up to six.
I found it! ^^
trainerjeff - March 30, 2008 11:22 PM (GMT)
if wi-fi is up and running why do you still ban over 50 pokes. they can be pushed back
Yuffie - March 31, 2008 12:21 AM (GMT)
Trainerjeff, we've been over this several times already, and my reasons have not changed.
1.) This isn't meant to be any overly competitive tournament, and level 50 is more accessiable.
2.) I do not know if the wifi is working, I do not drive or live in Columbus, so I cannot find out. It would be really awful to tell people they can enter over level 50 pokemon just to have them get there and say they can't. On the other hand, it wouldn't be fair to change the rules at the last minutes for those people who tried to make a team to fit the constraits.
3.) I want to do something different, I didn't want to make a run-of-the-mill thing. Level 50 offers completely different movesets, evolutions, etc. It's different, and it's challenging without requiring too much effort. Allowing all pokemon and pushing them back would ruin there being any point to the level 50 constrait.
And I will say, this is not unreasonable by any means, especially since you only _need_ three pokemon. I didn't/still don't have a team that fits these constraits, and will say it's completely viable. ^_^ I started this week actually...and am a good deal of the way through. And this is full out ev training, as I wanted to put as much work as someone might. I would think for this, ev training is not needed, as all you need is the three pokemon to make a good show.
trainerjeff - March 31, 2008 09:20 AM (GMT)
you are not listening to what i'm saying. did i say there should be lvl 100's no. i'm saying if the wifi works can lvl 100's be in it because it will downgrade them to lvl 50. read before going off
Yuffie - March 31, 2008 12:52 PM (GMT)
I'm hearing you just fine. First off, explaining myself is not going off, don't get defensive over reasons.
Why we can't push back level 50, even if we changed level 100's to level 50 they'd still have level 100 movesets and evolutions, in other words, defeats the purpose.
The rules are not debatable. I will not change the rules just so you can enter your level 100 team.
And I will repeat, I cannot say whether the wifi will work, and it just isn't fair to change the rules on the spur to allow level 100 when other people have worked to fit the constraits.
However, I am hosting a meet-up in the Atrium on Sunday, I'm sure you can find someone to battle there.
trainerjeff - March 31, 2008 04:03 PM (GMT)
you do know that all moves learn above lvl 50 are egg moves that can be passed to a younger version. not that i was going to particpate anyways. i was just wondering since you said if wi-fi works you were going to allow lower lvled to be push to lvl 50 so just thought there wouldn't be a double standarded that doesn't allow higher lvl to be pushed back
Rakuen - March 31, 2008 05:50 PM (GMT)
There are other moves that cannot be passed down because only evolved forms can know them. Take Torchic and its evolutions for example. An absolute level 50 cap actually blocks some moves from being learned. Since Torchic cannot learn Sky Uppercut, Brave Bird, or Flare Blitz by leveling up, these moves cannot be passed down to it. This means two things:
1) You must choose to either stack your type or diversify, because Blaziken is required to learn Brave Bird at level 49, but Combusken doesn't learn Sky Uppercut until level 50.
2) Flare Blitz is banned on Blaziken, period, since the earliest it can be learned is from Combusken at 54. This actually limits its power, because Blaziken's base attack is much higher than its base special.
I could be wrong on this, but I'm fairly positive I'm not. I'm looking at the Shoddy Battle applet right now and it won't let me teach any of those moves to a Torchic.
Yuffie - March 31, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
You worded it nicely Aaron, but I got this under control. ^_^
Yep, there is a double standard. Though if you're not entering, I don't see any reason for you to give me the third degree about this. :P
trainerjeff - April 1, 2008 08:31 PM (GMT)
just trying to help some people in case they hit lvl 51 on accident
Yuffie - April 1, 2008 10:50 PM (GMT)
You're not helping anyone. -.- No one has addressed that problem with me, you don't even know those people exist. You just want to give me a hard time, and I do not like it, I do not like having my resources wasted. .
I did check this statement, all pokemon egg moves above 50 can be passed down. I know the phenomenon that if the male and female learn the move, it can be passed down and did some experiments to see if it's true. Most moves can it seem, but I don't think all. Example--Magikarp, I'm sure cannot learn it's evolutions moves no matter what. I do further experiments to see if it's true regarding magikarp when I have time.
Rakuen - April 1, 2008 11:06 PM (GMT)
Yeah, that's what I said Janette. Any moves that are exclusive to a Pokemon's evolved form can't be passed down, because the starter version wouldn't be able to learn it by leveling up. ;)
As for accidentally leveling up to 51, I suppose it's possible, but given how far you'd have to go to do it, not very probable. Save early, save often. I know sometimes I space out on a battle and do something I didn't intend to do at all (like, attack), and then I don't have to go so far back after I screwed up.
Yuffie - April 2, 2008 01:32 AM (GMT)
It is weak, but I'd be willing to talk to anyone who had that happen. IF they existed.
I really do not know if that statement in true though Aaron, although you're probably right. I know that in the case of say, Magikarp, that would be true, but this really does call for some hardcore experimenting. Of course, my science nerd side is starting to take over, I have to see this for myself.

KaiserMikeB - April 2, 2008 03:44 AM (GMT)
OK...
Yuffie, no need to to go on the offensive, that's not necessary or productive. You should be ready to answer all questions and concerns, even if your answer is "It's too late to change things now, but you have valid points and next year I'll consider some serious revisions".
Rakuen, this isn't your fight, you're not saying anything Jannette isn't, and you're just increasing the likeness of this thread to a flame war. Hiveminds and teamups don't equal a well laid arguement and CERTAINLY don't qualify as a valid response from staff.
Jeff, while some of your concerns might be valid, you've stated that you aren't even competing, so while that does not impact the validity of your arguement in the least, it does add to how unnecessary this entire thing has become.
In short, all of you STFU, unless you have tits, in which case TITS OR GTFO.
Word.

Is that a challenge?
I understand what you're saying though, Mike.
I will go ahead and say, even though you kinda did, if I'm doing this next year, there will be some serious revisions. It really is too late to change things now, and while I know there are a couple kinks, it will run smoothly.
Although, between Aaron and I has turned into a scientific debate(well, as scientific as pokemon get), but we'll move it to another thread.
Lethal Beauty - April 3, 2008 04:44 PM (GMT)
Just wondering if there are rules against item holds (besides item dittos) or move bans (like double-team).
Yuffie - April 3, 2008 05:10 PM (GMT)
Vincent - April 9, 2008 02:32 AM (GMT)
Is there going to be a list of everyone who joined and their team name? o_O
Yuffie - April 9, 2008 02:34 AM (GMT)
Perhaps. I'd count on.
Not on here though, since only you have pre-reged so far.
Vincent - April 9, 2008 03:08 AM (GMT)
Rakuen - April 9, 2008 03:24 AM (GMT)
Well you know I'm playing. I've been trying to think up a good team name, I'll figure something out before I go to bed.
Vincent - April 9, 2008 03:31 AM (GMT)
My team sucks, Knoche told me so. xD
Yuffie - April 9, 2008 09:40 AM (GMT)
I know there are people planning to come, just haven't pre-regged. But no matter if there isn't many, it'll be fun, we just won't use the whole time block.
We'll see Vincent, we'll see.
The count is up to two...xD
Remember everyone, this is 2:00 Saturday. The website had it as Sunday for a bit, but that was incorrect.
Lethal Beauty - April 9, 2008 11:37 AM (GMT)
Gah, really? That sucks. I don't know if I can do it then because Fight Club is from 1-3 pm and the Swimsuit competition is at 3pm. T_T
Well, I can probably pass on the Fight Club (I was kind of looking forward to it XD), but I'm competing in the swimsuit competition and I need time to change, too.
Awws. ._.
Vincent - April 9, 2008 12:34 PM (GMT)
Now I have to make a decision, as the tournament is at the same time as the Naruto photoshoot. xD
Which to choose...
My decision will come at a later date..
Like.. Tomorrow.
KaiserMikeB - April 9, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
You could wear it under normal clothes?
