I am getting a Rocket Grunt outfit made by Codi, it may or may not be done by Punch depending on her schedule, but I was still wondering if anyone else would be in a Pokémon related cosplay.

Hm... since I have no cosplay what so ever for saturday [or none that I know of ._.;;] I could try and finish my Umbreon cosplay I never finished for SugoiCon.

I will be there as a Rocket Grunt still. Codi is almost done with making it,I had to try it on this past weekend so she could hem it.

Neat. I'm going as a Snorlax. Lol. I figured out how to make the costume, now it's a matter of doing it.

I am still planning on going as Nurse Joy but people keep flacking out of the commision, i don't think i can lurn to make it one my own in time for the con.

You might be able to buy most of the pieces to her costume from uniform stores and stuff and then do a couple minor alterations.

Anyone have idea for bathing suit snorlax? Lol

Question:
Why is Pokemon cosplay ok, even though the anime was based on a game, but final fantasy is looked down on when they have a anime out as well? I'm not mad or anything, I don't want to cosplay as either, but I'd just like a rule clarification.

Oh, and If I could afford another cosplay, a ninetails cosplay would be awesome!

Final Fantasy Unlimited is ok. Advent Children is not an anime and not stand-alone. The Last Order OVA could not even come close to being stand-alone.

It probably also has to do with the respective importance of the anime within the fandom. Everyone in the pokemon fandom knows about the show, most have seen some of it. Most of the FF crowd doesn't even know FFU or Last Order exist.

Advent children is not an anime? Anime is a term used for japanese animation. Advent children is an animated movie from japan. Is it because it's computer-generated? Then what about the 'FF: the spirits within'?

Pretty much that. Most anime with videogame counterparts stand alone well, or at least are respectable as complete works. The tekken movie, for example, is freaking terrible, but it is a self contained movie, and you don't need much background info for it to be entertainment.

Last Order is basically an animated cut scene. It holds no water on its own. FF7 cosplays are really popular, and more than a few people have tried to use this as a cop out, so to avoid opening that pandoras box, we simply said no to it. If you want to get technical, it's the exception to the rule. (Or maybe the addition to the rule? Or Reverse Exception? On that note, has anyone played Final Fantasy 7: Reverse Exception yet? I heard it was pretty sweet and you get to play has Hojo...)

Anime is not necessarily "Japanese animation." Most would argue that it refers to the style of the complete work, not just the country of origin. Therefore, FF7:Spirits Within and Advent Children, which do not use the distinctive art style of anime in general, are invalid for "anime cosplays." FFU, however, is a legitimate complete work in the anime style- therefore, "anime".

Note, computer generation has nothing to do with this. I'm rather sure that most modern shows are computer-aided, anyway- nobody's been doing hand-drawn stills for a while now.

not to mention the fact that Pokemon has over 9 seasons of their anime and the games come out about the same time as the seasons they correspond with. That and there are the fans who don't even know which came first, the anime or the game.
