Title: Opinions on Tsubasa Chronicle?

burnsidegt - January 28, 2008 03:03 AM (GMT)
One of my friends proposed the idea of the lot of us doing a group cosplay for Tsubasa Chronicle earlier today. The other 3 people have seen it, I haven't, and it's pretty much just that everyone wants to get together for one last group cosplay before everyone graduates and moves off to do whatever after college.

Ironically, nobody has it to loan to me, and I don't like doing cosplay on something I haven't actually watched.. I can make the costume from pictures you can find online, but that's about it. You can't get the attitude or the personality of a character for group poses and other fun interaction stuff.

Anyhow.. I trust my friends' opinions of it being good, but I like opinions from other people too.. specifically; people from places like this >DD. especially when I'm about to go out and buy some expensive dvds.

I personally think It's really good.
I only know one person who hates it, and she only hates it because she doesn't do heterosexual romance stories anymore. x_x
Anyway it's got a lot of action, and they travel to different worlds, so it's not the same old stuff.
If you like other CLAMP works, you should like this, I think..

Read the manga. Please read the manga. I will give you links to scanlations (as much as I love the creators and fully advocate supporting their works,) if it means that you'll read the manga instead of watching the abomination that is the anime series.

I adore the manga, but I won't watch the damn anime because of how much Bee Train screwed up doing it. First season, ok, CLAMP was helping them, but they still toned down the violence (which there is a lot of in the manga, I'll tell you!) and basically tried to turn what is a very adult, very shonen manga in to something for kids. They also had some filler in there, which, whatever, that happens, but it's hard to believe they'd do so with such a long running book series.

Second season gets worse, because the bloody studio, in all their idiocy, GOT RID OF CLAMP, the ORIGINAL BLOODY CREATORS, and created an even more vapid kiddified piece of crap that broke series canon. I think, if I remember correctly, about a full half of the second season is filler crap.

They fucked up so royally that CLAMP finally said no, stopped them, and now Production I.G., who did the Tsubasa & xxxHolic movies, is doing OVAs of the story arcs starting in Acid Tokyo. Well, they're only *confirmed* to be doing that arc, but seriously, it's excellent and from what I've heard and from magazine scans I've seen, I believe they'll be taking it farther.

*THAT ALL SAID*, I'll be doing an artbook cosplay of a character from later in the manga/ova for the convention, so, I fully advocate people actually cosplaying from the series ^_^.

With a reply like that, I think I'll end up picking up some of the manga then. There's a store here in town that does buy 4 get one free and buy 6 get 2 free.

As for the cosplay, I doubt it will be ready in time for AP, but it will definitely be ready in time for Acen/Zakyou cons since that was when everyone was aiming for.

Thanks for the input ^^.

And once you're up to about book 13/14 in the manga, go look up the OVAs, because they ARE a very good watch. fansub.tv has them as of now.

It's seriously one of my fav series though ^^. I've got two Tsubasa cosplays planned for this year, and I'll probably do more in the future.
