Title: Music Games
Description: beatmaniaIIDX and DDR?
Tsugaru - January 13, 2008 07:09 AM (GMT)
Hello~
I was hoping there was a chance I can offer my services to AP this year.
I will be able to bring in all of my Stepmania files and a Ignition Pad for DDR.
for beatmaniaIIDX, I can bring in two controllers and 8thstyle. Possibly, even, 13th style DistorteD.
Well, more of anything, was wondering how much DEMAND there is for this type of gaming at AP.

That would be sweet. You should email videogames@animepunch.org
Either way, you might want to bring the stuff to the convention just in case!

Otaku in general seem to love Rhythm gaming.
I'm sure there are always plenty of people at cons who will enjoy that type of gaming.
Sure, it's a niche audience, but the more we have, the better, eh?
And if you ask me, the "niche audience" is growing quite big here.
DDR and Guitar Hero are always popular, and Beatmania, though it's been around a while, is gaining more and more popularity recently.
It's always good to ask and offer anyway, just in case!
So yes, do as mike suggested and email the proper authorities about it :3

Done in sent.
well, I sent a list of what games I have, anyways.
(I would try to talk my bro into bringing rock band, but that's hard. He'd demand free entry for that. @.@;; )

He'd also probably end up with at least one guitar or the drumset broken by the end of the con, with the usual rate of use put into that game.

The drum would probably have something go wrong with it, the guitars are actually pretty stable.. drum or drum + mic would probably have something go wrong with it during the convention.. just because people can't seem to control themselves when they play the drums on rock band.. and knowing AP someone would end up chucking the mic through a wall.

Yeah, that would be one of those things I WOULD NOT bring.
espically since I really don't like the 360, and my bro's protective about it.

I'll almost definitely be able to supply an arcade rip of IIDX Gold (14th Style), possibly even DJ Troopers depending on how the decryption of the hard drive is coming along.
I'll also be able to bring an arcade version of Pop'n Adventure (15) whether or not it will garner much interest :)
As for DDR, there is an off-chance I could supply an Extreme Arcade machine as well. I can't be sure yet, but we'll see as it gets closer to con-time.
GH - I do not own this but if someone else wants to bring it that'd be great
Rock Band - I also do not own this nor do I own any systems it is on other than PS2 lol, but again, if people want to bring it that's great.

Tsugaru, it is not your place to tell people who should and should not come here. That job is for the website, and for me.
Celeste_Orchid - February 12, 2008 04:27 AM (GMT)
will there be Rock Band? I'll cry if there isnt! Just kidding.
Rakuen - February 12, 2008 04:31 AM (GMT)
Maybe I'll pop in and play a song or two of DDR.
DKong - March 30, 2008 10:29 PM (GMT)
DDR- hell yeah. I'll probably play a little or a lot, depending on how the pads are.
Beatmania and pop'n - if they're there, I'd play a few songs. If they're not there, it's not the end of the world.
GH- don't care. I'd almost rather NOT see GH3 there just so I don't have to hear Dragonforce every 5 minutes.
Rock Band- I'd love if you guys get a rock band setup! And actually, the guitars break about as fast as the drums do. At cons I've been to this year, bass pedals and guitar strum bars have been the first things that break with rock band.
Taiko Drum Master- if anyone could bring the PS2 version (or any version with the real drums), that would kick ass.

I agree with the GH thing, as well.
But, I must ask...
What DOES GH/Rock Band even HAVE to do with Anime?
DDR shows up in an Anime (World of Narue), and Pop'n Music and IIDX have a Anime-style for characters.
And, not to mention majoirty of BEMANI games uses Anime Illustrations. (I.e. , gf/dm's VENUS video.)
Hm...
I just thought I would put this in the open, 'cause it hit y mind the other day.
KaiserMikeB - March 31, 2008 01:14 AM (GMT)
The Colonal shows up in Anime too, it doens't make KFC worthy of an anime con.
For the video game room, basically all bets are off. We TRY to focus it on anime, but to do that stictly would mean we would have a pretty piss poor video game room. It's just easier to let the whole thing slide and write it off as a contradiction.
We will have RockBand, but probably not GH.

Although I don't have the mod device, if a japanese PS2 will be there, I'll still bring IIDX in. :3
