Title: Air Gear Cosplay
Description: Sky 2 High?

burnsidegt - December 14, 2007 12:24 AM (GMT)
I'll be bringing a super-deluxe version of Buccha to the fray this year for AP since the past few months have made producing a most simple costume a most sincere pain in the ass (seriously. You would think pink and white striped fabric would be easy to find. But it -isn't- >.<)

SO... AIR GEAR COSPLAYERS!!
If you plan on bringing a character from this series to Anime Punch, post it up here in the offical Air Gear cosplay thread!

And on that note, I'll be doing something secret-super-awesome-special for all the people who are rocking out Air Gear cosplay this year because I'm such a hopelessly addicted fanboy of this series, and I'm all about sharing the AG love!.. so be sure to list what character you'll be doing early on so I can have plenty of time to arrange enough awesomeness for everyone that's going to be involved >D.

I'm bringing Ringo to the table bitches!
Hopefully a New and Improved Ringo too. There's an outfit I really want to do but I'm not sure just yet.
The downside of this cosplay being I'm probably only going to be able to wear Ringo on Friday :\

burnsidegt - December 14, 2007 04:46 AM (GMT)
Awesome!! Ringo has lots of neat looking outfits. I was actually considering doing an alternate art book version of Buccha, but it's just a straightup outfit without much identity to it.

Regardless of when the photoshoot for AG may or may not happen, I look forward to seeing your Ringo even if Friday is the only day it can happen for ya' ^_^

I'll be bringing Simca, from the Volume 2 manga cover, assuming I get it finished. I don't see why I won't, I just may not get the damn skates like I'll want them...

Emimagamous - January 1, 2008 12:50 AM (GMT)
Hopefully me and my friend will bring Agito & Akito again. But is it alright to wear skates ?

Lothlin - January 1, 2008 04:10 AM (GMT)
I believe that thing exactly was discussed in another thread. Basically, as long as the hotel doesn't have a problem with it, and if you don't act like a complete idiot while wearing them ^^

...I'm just sad I'm not going to be able to get my skates finished before the con ><

Celeste_Orchid - January 11, 2008 01:52 AM (GMT)
if I get my Shiraume costume done in time I'll definitely do it.. other than that I'd do Simca in her black dress.. but I dunno yet

Lothlin - January 11, 2008 03:30 AM (GMT)
Regretfully, I'm no longer doing Simca. I couldn't get the skates done over break while I had the power tools to do them and without that detail, my motivation to actually do the cosplay went down the drain XD

I've got other stuff now, which I'm sure you guys will figure out soon enough since I can't ever keep my damn mouth shut!

cori - February 22, 2008 07:10 AM (GMT)
So I'm not really sure if I'm gonna have a new Ringo, but I'm still gonna bring an outfit. I don't wanna go the "original outfit" route, but it's seeming to lean that way. I'm kind of missing a piece of my cosplay. XD
I could probably get away without the leggings.. no one is gonna recognize me anyway ;o; Despite the fact I have the crazy apple logo on my hoodieeee!

Aw, it's all good when it comes to Sleeping Forest's Crazy Apple >DD. That girl is hella' fly and has fashion sense like none other, so it's to be expected to see her in random outfit X.

I mean, I could just be severely Air Gear biased here, but if someone was going to do an original cosplay, I think Ringo would be a sweet way to go considering she's so trendy in the anime; but I feel ya' on original cosplays *nodnod*.

I'm doing Akito and I'm kinda stumped and need opinions. I obviously can't wear my "ATs" in the hotel (I can't skate :P), so should I sling them over my shoulder and wear regular shoes too? I just have a feeling that I would be abandoning them sometime throughout the first day though and I don't want to put forth the money for a new pair of rollerblades if I think they are going to get thrown in the car because they are heavy. How important are ATs for King of the Fang?

Personally, I'm of the mindset that if you don't want to or can't skate, yet you still have skates that you wanna' use as AT props, go ahead and use them. However, you are absolutely correct in thinking that you'll get tired of lugging them around. Inline skates' bulkiness + hanging by shoelaces over your shoulder cutting into your arm + random swingy action as you walk around = a distraction that will have you wanting to toss aside the skates asap. If ya' don't have inlines already, I say forego the purchase of something that will just make your shoulder hurt, piss ya' off, and that you'll be leaving in the car for the rest of the weekend.

Also throw into that mix two other very important aspects.

If you are going to be specifically doing Akito cosplay (eyepatch on da' right side, yo'..), remember the differences in AT skill levels between Agito and himself. It's explained in the anime and manga fairly early on, so leggin' it to school shouldn't be a problem for Akito at all. If you've seen the anime, think back onto all the times where Akito specifically tries to ride, and then think of whether he would be better suited for skates or sneakers ^_~.

Also, if you're going to do the straightjacket version of Akito, that alone should be more than enough to get you recognized and glompled (a mixture of glomped and trampled) by crazy loyal Akito/Agito fangirls. So, I say if you're going this route, don't worry about the skates (unless you want to use them like flails to beat off fangirls.. which would be pretty effective if you get the nice heavy skates >D)

I've decided on Simca for my first ever cosplay. I'll be doing her normal outfit. Then making the chaps too and wearing the manga color outfit as well.

What do you think of this costume with this wig?

http://cgi.ebay.com/PW191-Dark-Blue-Short-...7QQcmdZViewItem

Of course it looks spot on. As for the quality of it? Who knows :/ I've never bought anything from a seller like that before.

Making it wouldn't be that difficult, though. Make or buy a hoodie, get 3 long zippers, a few shorter ones, sew them directly onto the outfit like they did. The trickiest part would be the straps and the facemask, I think, and they wouldn't even be that tricky. You could either just make the straps from long strips of similar colored and type of fabric, or buy some cheap belts from Goodwill to use them.

Also, keep in mind that when you buy a wig from a seller like that on ebay, the pictures they display are of the wig -after- it has been styled. When it shows up it's in its eww state and needs lots of attention to get it to look as advertised.

A lot of people would probably give you flak for just buying a costume instead of making it, but I say if you have the money for it (total cost of that specific cosplay being $131.97 when you factor in the cost of shipping for the costume and the wig both), and you just want to have a fun time, just go for it ^_^

Are you serious?! First cosplay being Simca-style? That's awesome!
Be sure to aim to meet up with us at the Air Gear photoshoot :D

Of course! =D

I really don't have the money for it, but as I can't sew to save my life I always buy my cosplays. It's actually pretty good when you consider that it will have to be made to fit my freakishly tall frame and they don't charge extra for that. My Shinigami robe for Ohayocon was about 4 inches taller than the largest girl size they had, so that had to be custom made. Believe me, if I could sew I would -_-

Is air gear having a photoshoot? where and what time?
can we bring our air trecks?
I'm going as Ikki
so Buchaa be prepare to battle! :D

It would be sweet if we could somehow get a graffiti-d backdrop or wall to do it in front of. I'm going down on High Street for my individual Akito pictures. Graffiti just seems so Air Gear to me :D

Yeah, it's too bad High Street would be like 30 minutes away from the hotel. :\

But yes. If there is enough interest, a photoshoot will be planned. Right now it kind of seems like there will be ^^ Makes me pretty happy!

As far as any AT wearing goes.. if the hotel or a staffer asks you to take them off, please do so. Just act responsibly with them.

Go with whatever you dig most. The straightjacket is Agi/Aki signature style, but of all the Kogarasumaru members, he's got the most diversity too. So...personally, I say go straightjacket-mode. Though if you're pressed for time and resources, go Koga-style. The team won't hurt to have a few more members actually show their colors ^^.

I like both really. His straightjacket is more recognizable, but his Koga uniform is SO CUTE!

I think it boils down to whats most easiest for you.

I'm very disappointed in all of you. How can we have a photo shoot with just Simca and Ringo? So we'll have to arrange something else maybe out of con.
