Sony is going to be releasing a new animated film that isn't anime, nor is it American animation, its French, and its based off of the alt French comic biopic by Marjane Satrapi about her experiences growing up during the Iranian revolution I really like the design in this, and am hoping that the story is as good as I hear the comic is.

Its also amazing that finally such a comic gets an animated adaptation, too often serious graphic novel adaptations are left to the more mature medium of "live action" because its more adult and stuff... Not to say that films like Sin City did a great job at capturing a comic book feel through live action, but we need more films like this. Even manga from more esoteric magazines or magazines aimed at Josei/Seinen audiences (older audiences than most manga available on bookshelves in the US) get live action adaptions...

I'm going to watch this!

My sister read them but I never got to read the BDs before she returned them (I guess we call it bande dessinées-- since we go ahead and make the anime/manga distinction for Japan stuff).
But yeah, she really enjoyed them. And that sort of plot is totally up my alley.

That's pretty cool, though I'm not sure how good a movie it'll make. I'll be excited to see.
