Title: Glompings
Description: Tiles says it all

Ishezeki - November 29, 2007 02:31 AM (GMT)
OK at Tsubasacon they had rules about glompings...now ive never done a glomping nor have I been glomping but im just curious...does Anime Punch have any rules for glompings? :ph43r:

Codi - November 29, 2007 05:17 AM (GMT)
This doesn't just apply to Anime Punch, but every con you'll ever go to.

Ask first!! No one appreciates someone randomly grabbing onto them for dear life. At one con last year, some random girl came out of nowhere, attacked me with a glomp, and nearly broke my neck. Suffice to say, I wanted to punch her lights out ^_^

So I guess don't be stupid - ask first lest you want your ass beat XD

Centaura - November 29, 2007 05:23 AM (GMT)
The exception: if someone's wearing a "Glomp Me" sign, which has been banned at several cons including Otakon; then they are asking for it. Have at.

Other than that, if someone tries to glomp me and I don't happen to know them, they should expect to be thrown. Like Codi said, no one likes being physically assaulted without notice. XP

And also, let me just say that I absolutely HATE when someone goes running to glomp someone else near me and I get caught in the line of fire/get shoved out of the way. This con is generally pretty close together when it comes to population, so if you think people will enjoy someone pushing through to glomp someone...it doesn't really fly.

Just some warnings XD

Lothlin - November 29, 2007 05:30 AM (GMT)
Agreed, it's generally a good idea to ask first, because there are a LOT of anime fans who at least have a base grounding in martial arts. The one time I've ever been full-on, running squealing fangirl glomped (with only that scream as a warning) was lucky she not only caught me off guart, but managed to trap me between a wall and two other people.

The only reason she DIDN'T get thrown or at least dumped was my inability to move. Thankfully, though, she was much tinier than me XD

Just repeat this mantra. Ask. Ask. Ask. Ask. Or someone WILL eventually perform a karate throw on you, and you WILL GO DOWN like a sack of potatoes.

Kamiokande - November 29, 2007 06:52 AM (GMT)
or if the glompee gets hurt, you'll get arrested for battery

prison time, paying the person's medical bills, criminal record... At least that's the worst that could happen.

Not quite the worst. You could glomp someone, they could trip and fall backwards, getting impaled through the heart by a sword someone just bought in the dealer room and was showing off. Thus killing the person, getting you life in jail or in some states the death penalty. ^^

Saranashi - November 29, 2007 07:10 PM (GMT)
ugh i remember last year the group of people i orginized to go to the con hung in the lobby and sometimes attacked random people.

but i was too busy drinking bawls and shit to really stop them.

yea..i would at the very least give a warning, just in case.

KaiserMikeB - November 30, 2007 02:02 AM (GMT)
"I was too busy drinking a soda to tell people I knew to stop assualting random innocents."

Lame.

Lothlin - November 30, 2007 03:01 AM (GMT)
Dot. Dot. Dot.

*speechless*

Saranashi - November 30, 2007 02:05 PM (GMT)
dude, they weren't my responsibility. i told them to behave, but there really wasn't anything i could do.

Centaura - November 30, 2007 05:29 PM (GMT)
Friends don't let friends glomp people.

I've always found glomping to be very immature and annoying and rude as hell, so I [verbally] beat the habit out of my friend. He behaves now :3

Seriously though. Tell your friends they need to stop or you will have to take authoritative action. If not for the innocents, then for your friends, who can and will get laid out someday.

KaiserMikeB - December 1, 2007 06:44 AM (GMT)
Comparing you saying "They are not my responcibiliy" to the Bible, I find a high correlation to you saying that and Cain saying "I am not my brothers keeper", thus logically I conclude that you killed your friends.

Not cool man, not cool. Friends don't let friends be killed by them.

Ishezeki - December 2, 2007 06:00 PM (GMT)
Ok thats good well I dont glomp people...mainly cause im very shy..so its probably a good thing im shy. And ofcourse my friends are old enough to know that glomping is stupid...mainly cause they were glomped pretty hard one time.

Torouh - December 3, 2007 10:46 PM (GMT)
I think glomping AMONG FRIENDS is kick ass. Expecially if its been a while. But glomping someone because you think the are pretty or you like your cosume? I would probly cuss you out for being so stupid. that bing said, my friends and I regularly dogpile/glomp each other t school. lol.
But sreiously, dont be stupid or you probly will be hurt.

Centaura - December 4, 2007 12:44 AM (GMT)
Well, yeah, there is a huge difference between friendly interaction and random assault. I'm the same way with my friends (though sometimes I'm in the mood where if I do get glomped I will claw my own friends' eyes out). Dogpiles, glompings, overly affectionate interaction.

However, random glomping of strangers is just immature, and seriously people do get hurt (for various reasons).

I feel like this whole topic got really super serious XD Bottom line: Glomping random strangers without so much as asking first is bad. Don't do it. :3

Miccy - December 5, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
-shiver- random glomping....

I have to say it's more fun when people are notified. I even like a notified glomp from time to time.

I've had a few friends including myself get hurt from these random acts of glomping. Not only that especially no to cosplayers! I've known plenty of people that have gotten their props ruined!

Including an almost broken leg... x_x

sesshouga - December 16, 2007 04:50 PM (GMT)
I got glomped at Colossalcon by a random Sanosuke fan. She knocked me to the ground, I dropped my sword (thank God it didn't hit anyone) and my chest bandages came loose. Not cool!

KaiserMikeB - December 16, 2007 10:42 PM (GMT)
Not cool, but totally hot!

Yuffie - December 17, 2007 12:49 AM (GMT)
I remember glomping you Miccy, but I felt really bad afterwards. Just got...overexcited.

I dunno, all the strangers I know are nice enough to ask, which is good. It's my friends who sneak up on me. I may be cute, but not cuddly, when spooked.

Torouh - December 27, 2007 05:12 AM (GMT)
Maybe we should have a "Glomp me!" Badge. Probably stamp out some of the confusion.

KaiserMikeB - December 27, 2007 06:04 AM (GMT)
Heh, that would be sort of funny ^_^

Torouh - December 27, 2007 06:12 AM (GMT)
I'll give it to my dad. XD A 46 year old guy getting glomped by 20 of my friends. That would be a-freaking-mazing.

KaiserMikeB - December 27, 2007 06:13 AM (GMT)
I can think of very few men who would object to a bunch of cute teenage girls hugging them :P

Torouh - December 27, 2007 06:14 AM (GMT)
Unfortunately that is also my dad. -_- (Also, your freaking fast at replying. lol)

KaiserMikeB - December 27, 2007 06:32 AM (GMT)
Fathers are men too you know, and I think deep down all guys want for once in their lives to be dog-piled by girls!

Torouh - December 29, 2007 07:05 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't complain about getting glomped by a bunch of cute girls either! :nyan:

Miccy - December 29, 2007 05:24 PM (GMT)
Dx Aw man, Mike, why are you right?

Anyway, Yuffie, you're fine, your very very tiny and I know you. Besides it wasn't as brutal as some kids.

Yuffie - December 29, 2007 06:10 PM (GMT)
Heh, it was still a random 123 lbs or so.

KaiserMikeB - December 29, 2007 06:47 PM (GMT)
You weight 123? That's like what I weigh, I refuse to beleive that!

Yuffie - December 29, 2007 08:57 PM (GMT)
It's alright, you don't have to. I've dropped to 116.

But that's my typical weight. That's kinda creepy, I always thought you'd be heavier.

Miccy - December 29, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
Mike doesn't look heavier-- but that's because he doesn't have a set of boobs like you, Yuffie.

Mike, I'm sure your all muscle though.

KaiserMikeB - December 29, 2007 11:28 PM (GMT)
That used to be true, though I feel sort of out of shape these days.

sesshouga - December 30, 2007 12:39 AM (GMT)
I feel fat XD Why are you so thin Mike?

KaiserMikeB - December 30, 2007 10:44 PM (GMT)
Exersize and a healthy, modest diet?

Lothlin - December 31, 2007 12:46 AM (GMT)
Metabolism and genetics probably have something to do with it.

For pete's sake, I've been stuck at the same weight since like, freshman year of high school. I keep active and I try to eat well, I just think I'm stuck around the body weight my body wants to stay at, and there's little I can do about it.

KaiserMikeB - December 31, 2007 08:02 AM (GMT)
Dude, I was watching football today and this guy got totally glomped!

Yuffie - December 31, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
I knew I was missing something when I played football at school!

Friends don't let friends glomp people.

that should be made into a little button or random badge to be massly handed out or even sold in artists alley. I could so see it being one person holding onto the back collar of someone starting a run to glomp someone XD

as for me, I only glomp my absolute closest friends and give a 50 foot warning and ALWAYS come from in front where they can see me. Not to mention I always call out the name of the person I'm about to glomp.

for example, last year me and some friends from my old High School met up for meet the band night for the marching band (which we were all in) and one of the girls was on break from school in Indiana so I hadn't seen her in a while. So when she showed up I called out her name and started my run, giving her ample time to pass of the stuff she was carrying to her brother and get herself in a strong position cuz she knew it was coming teehee. And then of course I slow down when I get close to minimize the chances of knocking her over.

If I weren't a lazy ass, I would draw it for sure...

Maybe I'll do it when I stop being ridiculous and actually get off the internet for a second.

Also, a friend of mine used to have this interesting little habit of screaming "COME ON NOW, BRING ON THE FUN" at total random and literally tackling the nearest friend to him. I've seen him take people out like that. Then there were the number of times another friend would glomp the hell out of unsuspecting strangers at cons, more than one of these victims did actually get knocked down.

THAT is the type of thing that should be avoided at cons. I let him have it after that. He doesn't do it anymore...victoly.
