Title: anime punch request?

Faery-phoenix - November 8, 2007 12:13 AM (GMT)
so I don't know if this is the place to put a request but:

- I was wondering if maybe anybody thought about getting lemon demon to play at anime punch. I saw the band at youmacon and it was a really good concert.
Although I don't know if you would since it is strictly an anime convention but just thought I would put in a request.

Speedycat - November 8, 2007 01:34 AM (GMT)
I personally handed him a flyer and told him about AP.

He looked kind of excited/interested, especially after experiencing his first con and saw the puppet show on the event list.

I'll bring it up with him again, I hope he considers it :D

Faery-phoenix - November 8, 2007 01:51 AM (GMT)
awesome, I sure hope so. ^_^

Lothlin - November 8, 2007 01:53 AM (GMT)
Personally, I really hate Lemon Demon, it just isn't my type of music. THAT ASIDE, I could always just go make myself scarce in the DDR room while the concert is going on, so.. *shrugs*

I do know some people down here at school that would be excited to get a chance to see him.

Faery-phoenix - November 8, 2007 01:57 AM (GMT)
yea most of my friends made themselves scarce at youmacon. Honestly I was the only person who was excited, I have a eclectic sense of taste in music, but I understand.

rpb3000 - November 8, 2007 02:38 AM (GMT)
Lemon Demon is a God. He is what made Youmacon awesome for me this year for sure. Incredible ^_^

Even if not brought on as the concert band or whatever, he seemed to enjoy jamming with the 'Bards.

Kanamai - November 8, 2007 02:41 AM (GMT)
Neil is freaking awesome. His band is awesome. He should be a guest at Punch I think. I really enjoyed watching him play at Youmacon and meeting him in person.

thats exactly how I felt. I stood there a lot of the time just listening to all of them play . That was one of my highlights this year at Youmacon.

I also enjoyed meeting all of them at the signing .

Speedycat, remember to not present yourself as a representative of the con when contacting people.

Remember that Anime Punch is an anime con. Lemon Demon will not be our musical guest this year.

That being said, they are great guys, and I would love to have them at the con. I would even give them free passes, though I would not consider them a headlining musical guest.

SSJ Jup81 - November 8, 2007 12:20 PM (GMT)
Who is the musical guest for next year? ^^

vamninrate - November 8, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
If they were going to play would it be enough that they write some sort of anime song, or picked some popular ones and re-did them? Just curious, tho they are pretty ccol ;P

Centaura - November 8, 2007 08:32 PM (GMT)
Do the Bards count as a "musical guest" anymore or are they just a permanent AP installation at this point? XD

Last year I considered the Protomen the guest, not the Bards. I am assuming this is the case again this year? Only replace "Protomen" with someone else.

I love Lemon Demon, but he's not really going to cut it when it comes to keeping in the AP tradition. And honestly, do you really think he would/should go write a whole slew of anime songs just for a con? I think it would be cool if he (they?) came to the con, but not as a musical guest.

However, that fact that he does the Harry Potter Puppet Pals could come in handy during the much-loved Eva Puppet Show. XD Not that I feel it needs to be changed. Just saying.

My "two-cents" are so long-winded. I talk this much IRL, too. Tangents and all. Apologies.

Oh and PS: I dunno if you know this but the Ultimate Showdown song was spammed over by the game rooms and art tables all weekend. Whoever was using their playlist for the musical atmosphere over there was cool and all, and I liked most of the songs, but changing playlists (get moar people, iPods, etc.?) would have been nice. If I heard Simple and Clean one more time...

Thanks for the confidence in my common sense Mike XD

I didn't represent AP, I just told Neil ABOUT it.

He seemed to be interested, and I didn't remotely suggest him being a musical guest. I took into account AP's stance on things.

Miccy - November 8, 2007 09:31 PM (GMT)
Lol.

But yeah, I know you really push the Anime factor, Mike, (not that it's a bad thing, your passion about it is awesome) and it's understandable not having him as a guest.

Because you tell someone about a con doesn't mean that they're trying to represent... o.o;; I didn't get that impression when I had read over it... anyway, yeah~

It was whoever was running the game rooms that was doing the music, I think. I agree though, while it was AWESOME that they were playing music, their playlist did occasionally suck. Hell, my collection of japanese tunes, game/anime or otherwise, is probably larger than the playlist they were going off of.

Then again, I have a ridiculous amount of instrumental stuff thanks to the soundtracks I have, so, maybe not.

Geidaara - November 8, 2007 10:11 PM (GMT)
Ok <.< So, I am behind in the area of music and movies...about the only thing I really keep up with, or I'm passionate about, is anime and manga XD lol Anyway, who is Lemon Demon? Sounds cool, and so do the 'Bards, maybe they could play together >.> But, if we are getting really anime related, why not get the group that sings "Ready Steady Go!" *^.^* lol

Centaura, you and me have GOT to meet! I talk a lot IRL too, so we could probably keep each other (and probably people around us) entertained for hours on end :nyan: tee hee

Oh, and the letting people know about the con thing...Well, lets just say that if anyone else from my area needs a ride, I have room for one. Either that, or I need to get a van XD lmao My friends Ka-chan and 'Tachi have already committed to coming with, and I might get Blondie to come along too *^.^* He has to take college into consideration, but he is really thinking about skipping Friday class just for this *^.^* lol

Speedycat - November 8, 2007 10:18 PM (GMT)
Oh yeah, I'm sure L'Arc en~ciel would jump on the chance to perform at AP

As cool as that would be.

The band that plays "Ready, Steady, Go" is L'arc en ciel, and they are WAAAYYYYY out of AP's budget (or most smaller cons). But it would be awesome if it could happen. xD

As for musical guests, I'm really curious who will be coming ... I'd be all for having Steve Conte here again (because that was an awesome concert!).

Codi - November 9, 2007 12:22 AM (GMT)
As cool as he is, I don't think Michael would have the same musical guests again. (as much as I would love to hear the Protomen again!!)

Centaura, I think the Bards are just a staple of the midwestern con-circuit, and don't necessary count as *the* musical guest for cons (unless otherwise stated by the con), but definitely entertainment guests. I think hotel atriums would be a lot more boring without them. <3

I think what Michael meant, Miccy and Speedy, was that sometimes people who have nothing to do with booking guests for cons will go out of their way and invite voice actors or webcomics or whatever to xxcon, when the con may not have had them in mind or were already in the process of getting them and the like. I've seen it happen before ^^; No harm~!

I understand Codi!

That's why I want to assure my competency to the staff, I'm not going to do something like that ^-^

KaiserMikeB - November 9, 2007 07:41 AM (GMT)
Yeah, it was nothing personal, Speedycat. Any chance I get I like to remind people not to represent us, as there have been people I've never even met before who have talked to guests "on behalf of us".

L'arc would fucking rule, but alas, I don't have 100K laying around.

I am not totally opposed to bringing back people again after a year or two, though other Ohio conventions have booked both of my musical guests, so it makes me wary about booking them again. It's not cool to have too many repeat acts after all. I am looking forward to seeing Steve Conte again at Sugoicon though, and I always love seeing the Protomen!

I consider the Bards to be musical guests, though not headlining ones. I am currently in negotiations with my top pick for this year, so hopefully I'll be able to work out a deal soon. No matter what, I'll do my best to blow you guys away again with a super steller musical guest!

SSJ Jup81 - November 9, 2007 10:52 AM (GMT)

At least tell us if the Protomen might return cause I don't think I'll be able to make it to A&G and I really want to see them again.

Centaura - November 9, 2007 10:09 PM (GMT)
From the sound of it, I don't think it's the Protomen again this year.

But I wanna know who it iiiiiis.

KaiserMikeB - November 10, 2007 09:20 AM (GMT)
I don't think the Protomen will be our guest this year, though we stay in contact with them and it would be a safe bet that they will someday return to liberate the armageddicon once again.

Geidaara - November 11, 2007 06:37 AM (GMT)
Yea, I was kinda being sarcastic about L'arc en ciel, I knew the name but was too lazy to type it XD lmao But, yea, I knew that was far fetched...but that is the only band I really know the name of when it comes to anime music ><;; I need to keep in the loop, yes, but I never have time <.< Oh well...Whatever you pick Mike will be great <3 It'll definitely be something new to me *^.^*

Lothlin - November 12, 2007 03:02 AM (GMT)
So, we're talking about unrealistic wishes of bands we want?

Hrm. Moi dix Mois, High and Mighty Color, Maximum the Hormone, Nightmare, or Ore Ska Band. Any of those and I would die of fangirl happiness.

But I know it's not going to happen. Alas. (I'm still crazy-pissed that I couldn't go to Acen last year and see High and Mighty Color ;_;)

Mad Hatter - November 12, 2007 02:29 PM (GMT)
Yo guys no long time no see! So that time has come again to gear up for AP...so soon?! Anyways, I just wanted to give a shout out request to invite Mr. Crispin Feeman to the convention again this coming year. He was a valuable asset to the discussion panels on academia in anime as well as insightful in the directing panel. Although it costs a bit more, I would also like to request the staff take into consideration his updated Mythology in Anime Presentation, I've only ever hear great things about it and I feel it would be a nice way to connect the fans with other appreciational evidences in anime.

Thank you for your time! :D

Whoo, Maximum the Hormone! It'd be awesome if they were to show up!! But, alas...as you said it...highly doubtful. I can dream...

High and Mighty Color, Moi dix Moi and Nightmare would be pretty cool too. I don't know of Ore Ska Band, though.

*Still wish m.o.v.e could perform at AP*

WE SHOULD HAVE A RAVE D= is there going to be a rave this year?

kyuuketsuki_darkmoon - January 3, 2008 06:58 PM (GMT)
I want LM.C or An Cafe or ayabie....^_^ or gackt or hyde...*fangirl sqwee*..but booking a jrock band would be hard...because even if they spoke english you wouldnt be able to understand them barely.

And didn't you say you would suck dick to get the Protomen again this year?
Plus I think the bards are going to be there right? The bards go to every con in the Midwest!

And Mike even you working with Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Vlad the Impaler, Mr. Burns, SEELE, Kenny G, and the mother fucking Grinch could not put a stop to dancing at Anime Punch.

Mmmhm. You're right; can't put a stop to dancing at AP! That's for sure. Last year when we were waiting for the rave to start we all just kind of started our own dance party in the lobby.

Now that was fun! ^^

No music/dancing also means no Guitar Hero and DDR.

UNACCEPTABLE

Seriously. If fangirls went to a con without DDR and pasty assholes that rarely leave their dorm were denied Guitar Hero, Mike would get lynched. When the trial came around Mike not an anime character would get the boot to the head.

Though to be fair, at least the gaming rooms won't smell like hell.

Speaking of which, I suggest car air fresheners.

Thousands of them. Hanging from the ceiling.

Just shove some dryer sheets up your nostrils and breath through your mouth.

I might actually try that this year.

Centaura - January 6, 2008 04:55 AM (GMT)
Dryer sheets? I suppose I'll be able to pick you out in the crowd. I'll look for the guy with the dryer sheets rammed up his nose.

You could wear one SARS-mask style.

Maybe I should bring some air fresheners on strings and drop them over the heads of anyone in the game rooms.
