Title: Driving from Oregon...
Zennus - November 3, 2007 07:56 AM (GMT)
I realize this is a crazy idea. But think: its Armageddicon, how awesome would it be to be there? Yes, I also realize that its still very far away, still a solid 5 months away, but its never too early to plan right? Anywho...if you are from Oregon, then give me a shout and lets see if we can work something out. :domo:

We are awesome! I'm so excited when I hear of people driving long distance to come to the convention, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside <3
Hope to see you here! Good luck finding people to split gas money with... ;p
Zennus - November 4, 2007 01:30 AM (GMT)
I know...they dont really help much. but I figure if I split it 4 ways, it should not be too bad...Hopefully.

Oregon's a long way away. It might be cheaper to fly, especially if you'd order your flight ticket now...you'd get a pretty good discount.
Geidaara - November 5, 2007 05:27 AM (GMT)
Man, I would so ride with you! <.< If I still lived in Oregon XD lol Lovely state by the way, I really miss it T.T Oh well, that is life I suppose >.> Good luck though <3 I would love to see people from Oregon. If you are from the high desert region, that would be even cooler :3 ~
KaiserMikeB - November 5, 2007 05:45 AM (GMT)
That's pretty fucking sweet that you A) even heard of us that far away, and B) think we're awesome enough to drive all that way. That basically rules!
I'm going to second the whole flying thing though, it's cheaper and easier. If you're looking for locals to travel with though, might want to hit some local boards and anime clubs and such. Also maybe the Sakuracon forums.

Damn, man. We drive in from NY but that's not nearly as much of a drive as from Oregon.
Let me third the notion to fly. It should be generally inexpensive and considering the gas/sustenance you need for a drive like that, it would be cheaper in the long run.
Note the word "should", though. Airlines are unpredictable and it may end up being cheaper to drive (but I can't imagine being in a car for that long...I'd murder someone before we got halfway there).

Hey, Columbus is the hub for Skybus, so who knows about cheap ^_^
Also, train.
Geidaara - November 6, 2007 01:59 AM (GMT)
Flying is good, if I remember correctly it is only like a 6 hour flight <.< I might be wrong though. Its been over 7 years since I flew out from the west coast to the east coast XD lol Anyway...
I'm with Centaura. I did the drive from Oregon over this way. 5 flippin days is how long it took, and we were all ready to kill each other XD lol
Centaura - November 6, 2007 05:23 AM (GMT)
Six hours seems a bit long. It's only like two from NY to Florida. But what do I know? I've never flown that far before XD
Codi: What train? I was trying to find one that went into Columbus for the 2006 AP, couldn't find one. It could be an alternative plan if it became necessary. I am NEVER taking the Greyhound again, I can't sit that long in seats that uncomfortable. XP
starsarefalling - November 6, 2007 06:29 AM (GMT)
Greyhound is terrible, I took it from Mass to Tennessee once and swore on my life never again. The transfers were terrible, the seats were uncomfortable, and frankly who wants to spend fourteen hours on a bus? Nope. I'll shoot myself first.
I whatever-number-we're-up-to (third, fourth?) flying, especially Skybus. I use them when I go home, and you really can't beat $36 for a round trip ticket. 'Course, you do have to buy rather early, but I'd say you've got time.
Zennus - November 6, 2007 07:39 AM (GMT)
the problem with Skybus is that they fly out of Seattle, which is a 4-6 hour dive, if traffic is good. I dont really mind the Greyhound, as Ive ridden it lots of time between here and Anaheim for Anime Expo. But I dont know how I could deal with two days worth of travel on a bus... but if thats what it takes then so be it!
realistically, I might not even be able to make it...especially if I decide to go to Anime Oasis in Boise...
Codi - November 6, 2007 08:22 AM (GMT)
Centaura : The trains don't run into Columbus, but they do ride into nearby towns like Cleveland, Toledo, and Cincinnati ^_^ And it'd be easier to find people from any of those towns than Oregon. It's an option!
KaiserMikeB - November 6, 2007 08:30 AM (GMT)
6 hours makes sense to me. It's over 5 from Cincinnati to SanFrancisco, and there is no guarentee that it would be a direct flight anyhow.
We'd love to have you, regardless of how you get here, Zennus. Of course, if you can't make it we won't hold it against you...
...or your loved ones.

Depends if you're going through the flight hubs, such as in Texas and Georgia.
And you most likely will.
Heh, Dallas is a cool airport, but it's a hassle. >.<
Geidaara - November 7, 2007 05:39 AM (GMT)
Dallas is an awesome airport, just don't get a layover there in the summertime ><;; Mom had to DRAG me out of the plane XD lol That was funny though, and it was only because I didn't feel like roasting that day...
Anyway, if you can't make it, that is understandable...but if you can, we HAVE to hook up, just so I can purr on you! :3 ~ lol Meeting someone from Oregon, which I personally still think of as home, would just make my day *^.^*
