I love Gaara, and Deidara is totally awesome...and I have great ideas for both, but I can only go as one...soooooo... What do you guys think? Any ideas, or you just want to chat and see if I can make up my mind on my own? XD lol

Well I always see more people cosplaying Gaara at conventions then I see people cosplaying Deidara, if you want to take that into consideration. Both are awesome though. Which one would you have more fun cosplaying?

Do you have a photo of yourself? Those two characters look nothing alike, so you're bound to be built more like one than the other, which would make the choice easy.

Also... you have 6 months, can't you just make both and wear one friday and one saturday?

Caffeine is a drug though, just a perfectly legal one. Haha, I'm addicted, I need a small fix. I was getting really crabby yesterday because the hotel ran out of hot chocolate, I won't drink coffee so I sat through a viewing and a funeral, then got to my grandpas to discover I just missed the last coke. oo;;;

Two down, one to go. By the way, when I die I'm only having one viewing, so make the most of it. I'm also having my ashes scattered at Toys R Us. Lest, that's what I said yesterday...

I also agree with what Michael says, if it's not too far off in the budget, do both. (Wearing one costume all weekend : it gets...ripe. Trust me!)

Also, since they are two very different looking people, surely there is one that "looks" more like you. Since you seem to have mad love for both, it doesn't come down to, "Which one do I like better?"

Also, it's a matter of skill. Would you be able to produce/find an Akatsuki coat easier than Gaara's black outfit? (or would you be doing Time Skip Gaara?) Both can be easily found on cosplay commission websites, but if you'd be making them yourself, I think Gaara's first outfit is way easier. (disregarding props, it's not completely necessary to have them)

So there are some suggestions on narrowing things down. Good luck ^_^

You could probably pull off a decent Deidara with your face and body type. I can't tell your hight, but Gaara might be off too different a proportion than you. Gaara's built like a child, so only really thin and short girls can ever really pull him off well (no offense to the Gaara cosplayers on this site).

Diedara is taller, has longer hair, and his outfit is consealing enough that a large number of people are able to successfully do him.

Oh, and I'm strongly considering wordfiltering "XD lmao", and "XD lol". Just thought I would mention that! (The occasional emoticon is totally acceptable here, but when you start punctuating with them and chain comboing them we start cracking down! Remember, college-age con!)

Alright, that's settled then :3 ~ I'm about 5' 5", 5' 6" on a good day, so I'll do Deidara and get my buddy to do Gaara. (I thought she'd make a great Gaara anyway *^.^* She can so pull him off with her type...in my opinion <3) She is 5' even (if that) and ... well, lets just say she is carded on a regular basis because everyone thinks shes like... 12. lol. She doesn't find it as amusing as I do <.< Wonder why >.> tee hee

But, I did plan on packing more than one Deidara outfit. The robe is one thing, thats like a coat, you can wear it more than once... but I would so not wear the same pants and shirt and all two days in a row. Sure, I would get identical stuff, but yea...at least it would be clean... Oh, and does the hotel have a washer and dryer? I might want to wash the robe just because my friend is OCD like that <.<; lol

XD The problem with doing anime characters wigless is that so many of them have short, chunky bangs or bangs that just don't work in real life. It's why I bought a wig for my Jade Curtiss cosplay, because I wasn't cutting bloody bangs that would drive me crazy on a daily basis into my hair. (I'm such an advocate of wigs, it's silly XD)

That said, I'll try to think of something.

Well, you could always do something with a short hairstyle- I've found that shorter wigs are MUCH harder to turn into a tangled mess of nasty.

I don't think the hotel has a public washer and dryer. Most hotels will wash stuff for you overnight or in the morning, but I'm not sure I would trust them with that. You can of course call the hotel and ask though.

As for blonde anime characters, I'm pretty sure they are all blonde!

Heh, yea, it seems like all the chars are blonde, doesn't it? The thing is, I really don't have a lot of time to make costumes. I hope to have the robe done before Halloween, just so I can try it out on said day :3 ~ But working two jobs kinda limits play time XD lol

That's ok though, the more I work the better chances I have of being able to attend this year instead of having to wait *^.^* The only real factor left would be getting the time off from both of said jobs <.<; I'm sure they wont mind giving me the time if I work my butt off until then <3 lol
