Title: The ubiquitous cup of Joe
Description: ...but where?

Wyatt - August 15, 2005 07:40 AM (GMT)
In about a month I will be joining the large number of semi-permanent residents of the Columbus area that require a steady supply of caffeine (though my preferred medium is tea rather than coffee). To that end, could anyone possibly recommend to me a good place to go, preferably with a nice atmosphere?

PS: I hope this is the right section for this...

Mirror Lake claims to have coffee that you can use meal plans on (On Neil Ave., Pomeran Hall)
Marketplace on 10th and Neil has a whole coffee bar.
Brennans on high street is a dive for all the pseudo-intellectuals and English TA's (infact there was a TA last year who scheduled all his office hours there.)
There is a Cup of Joe at Lennox, but unless you're in the towers it's a bit of a walk.
There are "Campus Grind"s in Wexner, the Library, The Union, Drake, Larkins, McPhearson, and probably a few other places.
There are also some fairly popular coffee places in short north, but I think those tend to cater to the homosexual crowd, but I can't be sure myself as I've never been down there.

There is also Pochi's which is a little pop-asian place that serves tea and bubble tea up on high around 19th or Frambees.

Hope this helps! I take it you're a freshman?

That does help and yes, I'm one of the Commies moving into Nosker house in a few weeks here. Of those places, how many have Wi-Fi? Or at least a local WEP key I can bork?

Kaisermikeb - August 16, 2005 06:27 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure as I don't actually drink coffee. I know for a fact there is a place a little north of where you are on campus that has free wireless though, forgot about that one, sorry.

I lived in Haverfield my first year, so I would get into your building to use the GOOD vending machine!
I'll be on south in Baker West this year. Room 4044, come on by!

demon_cat_snowy - August 16, 2005 07:26 PM (GMT)
So... you're going to be in Baker West on the 4th floor? ::eyetwitch::

WHY didn't I wait to see if another single came up? I believe I'm going to be in Baker 4143 next year... u.u

Kaisermikeb - August 16, 2005 07:29 PM (GMT)
Oh how fun! We can hang out and stuff ALL THE TIME! Infact I'll make it my business to make sure we do so!

Typically college students want to walk less than a mile for their coffee, but your hearts in the right place!

He lives by Cedar Point...
(lucky bastard)

Well distance doesn't matter so much as atmosphere (and wifi) to me. I'll try those places first though. Thanks.

"Working at" and "going to" are two DRASTICALLY different things. I would hate to work there, but I wouldn't mind at all being able to get there in ten minutes rather than three hours

i can see cedar point from my backyard.
