Well, Osamu Tezuka is drop dead amazing.
So I'm reading his work, "Adolf" right now.
I was wondering, has anyone else read this?
For those who don't know, Adolf is a story about a murder and the lives of three Adolfs, as well as the events leading up to and of WWII. Adventure has been woven in with just illustrating the time period. It's more a story then a decpitcion of WWII (like Markus Zurask(sp?) work, The Book Theif). Still it's very memorable, and very frank. The art is wonderful. However, it is a very mature story, with distubing scenes without holding back on anything (Sex, drugs, language, and ruthless killing) so I'm tempted to say it's for a Senior/College level.
If all one knows from Tezuka is Astro Boy or Kimba, then it's a shocker. Tezuka's real works aren't the kiddy-friendly stuff like that. Most of his work (well.. with some exceptions ((I'm looking at you Momo :D)) is more mature like Adolf. So, if you like that, then you'd like his other works.
Unfortunately, his work is really hard for me to find. I've always had an interest in Phoenix, and would like to read the story involing the doctor.
