Title: Air Gear

Lothlin - October 8, 2007 03:48 AM (GMT)
Meh, figured I'd start this now, because 1, I'm planning on doing Simca for this con, and two, I want to ask our resident cosplay heads a question that will probably come up a LOT thanks to rising popularity of the show. (and sort of affects me too XD)

Skates. Are we going to be allowing them to be worn inside the hotel? If not, will they be allowed to be worn during the masque, or will any cosplayers entering air gear just have to make due with tennis-shoe look alikes?

(Also, for the above reasons and for future reference, I vote any Air Gear photoshoots are done outside.)

Huzzah! (if you still need that wig, lemme know~~)

As for skates, I don't personally have a problem with them. In fact that'd be BAD ASS AND AWESOME. You can do whatever you want for masque/photoshoot/judging/etc., but for around the hotel, I'd be prepared to take them off easily and have a backup in case security asked you to take them off.

And yeah if there's a photoshoot then most def. outside 8D

Woahhh no I disagree, I think skates indoors would be dangerous!

I mean, I trust Lothlin of course but generally speaking you aren't allowed to have a skateboard indoors, wouldn't it be along the same lines?

To give my word on this:

We're the con that trusts people to make good decisions until proven wrong, rather than the convention that assumes everyone to be incompetent.

As such, so long as you can manage yourself on skates in a big crowd, and so long as the hotel does not object then there is no reason to not allowe skates.

If there is a hotel issue or a security issue, or if it looks like you're going to hurt someone then you'll be asked to take off the skates.

This goes for just about any prop.

Allright, I can agree to that. Just for the written record. ^_^

Gotcha. Personally, I'm not worried about myself, I trust myself to not be an idiot, (and trust me, my skates will be all kinds of badass and awesome when I get around to working on them) it's other people who might decide it's free reign to speed around like an idiot who I worry about.

A note about it on the website might be in order

I've been waffling between borrowing the wig and just buying my own, because i'm going to be skating around outside with it for sure and it'll probably get tangled a bit- what does this mean? I'll wait and see much money I have closer to the con XD

Awesome!
I am sick of going to conventions as Simca, without being able to wear my AT.

XD.

Hey Lothlin, which Simca outfit?

Lothlin - October 8, 2007 04:37 PM (GMT)
I was just going to do the coverart from the manga volume 2, jeans instead of assless chaps because I'm sorry, I don't want my ass hanging out to the breeze. (american edit, basically.) If I was entering it in a masquerade, I'd probably do the assless for the sake of accuracy, but in this case I don't think it's going to be a huge deal XD

Ok, I know which outfit you are talking about. Mine is the same dress, just I have Air Trek for it. (Will have when I finish them..lol)

I thought about making the pants, just for conventions, since most don't allow roller skates/blades at all..But I haven't. lol

I do have some emblems being embroidered for me, to put on the outfit. ^_^
(Oh, and as for the pants not covering the butt... The manga shows more than that..lol)

New rule: you're only allowed to use risky props like skates if your costume is hyper accurate!

Therefore, we get to see your ass!

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to embroider the emblems or use shrinky dinks and make pins. The shrinky dinks might actually work well, I found a Simca on cosplaylab that used them and they looked pretty good.

XD I know the manga covers less. I'm not totally 100% on it, if I can find some cheer shorts/buruma to go under the top, I may just end up doing the chaps.

Dad's going to help me make a pair of air trek's, I found an excellent tutorial off of cosplay.com. They're going to rock so hard, I just need to find some skates to mutilate.

But no Mike. I won't do it just so you can see my ass.

I agree with not showing the ass part. That and you don't wanna see my ass...

As for my AT, I made most of it in 05, just never finished.
