Title: Premium Registration??

Torouh - October 6, 2007 10:20 PM (GMT)
Okay, I'm going to bring a whole herd of people to the con in april (8 people excluding myself and parents) and I'm registering for them. Most of them dont have the net and they are just going to give me the money. So they are all asking me why there is Premium and regular registration? Whats the differance between the two? I heard somewhere that we git first dibs on seats at the really packed events. Someone else said some people gave discounts in the Dealers room. Is any of that true? (its very vage on the website when talking about the Premium Registration)

*blinks*

...Apparantly, premium reg has changed slightly this year. Um. I wish I could answer your question, but looking at the prereg page, I have to admit that I also have no fucking clue.

Quick, someone who can actually make it to meetings, say what's up x.x. I myself want to know!

I think people are conning this weekend.

Both of those are stated on the con website as perks though, and there's been other really cool stuff in the past.

Though why must con websites be so vauge? ;.;

If they weren't then they wouldn't be con websites. :P

Fact: anything you want to look up on the internet will have a complete lack of information while the shit you don't care about has its own goddamn wiki.

You get into big events earlier, your garenteed great seating, and I think there is a few other things along with it, but I don't remember anything about discounts. You also get your name written in Kana/Kenji.

I think it's extremely awesome that you don't have to wait in live for events, and especially if you enjoy the main ones, it is definently worth it to get premium.

I also believe there was talk about a raffle thing, but who know. ;3

I don't believe dealers would change their prices for a con that uses "Premium". :P

I don't like to list all the perks ahead of time (mainly because some of them are last minute, but also because I want people to do it for the sake of helping the convention, not for helping themselves) however I can tell you this:

Premiums DO get priority seating at major events (basically any event that has a line).
They get discounts of tee shirts and anything else the con sells/managed directly. This could go for workshops that have a fee for equipment (like a 2 dollar fee for a cell painting workshop would be waived. It should be noted that so far no workshops have a confirmed fee yet).
They might also get first dibs at and/or special food from the con suite.

If dealers offer discounts that is up to them. The only dealers room discount I could think of would be if we had custom swords for sale through BowenDragon1's store, in which case we would ask that they offer premium members a discounted rate.

Ohhhh food... *drool* lol
I'm probly going to buy a premium anyway, but my friends are all very tight on money.

Geidaara - October 14, 2007 01:56 AM (GMT)
Heh, I already decided to get Premium before I read this. It's only a little more after all, and it does help out the con from my understanding. I have heard people discuss things of that nature (more specifically a friend who usually staffs at AnimeExpo XD lmao)and how when he goes to cons (that he doesn't staff) he gets the premium (if they offer it)to help out.

I just don't know if I can attend this year or not, but when I do I want to do the premium thing :3 ~ Just for the hell of it... Because getting my name written in Japanese would be worth it! XD lmao

Torouh - October 14, 2007 11:02 PM (GMT)
Oh yeah, that reminds me. When we get our names in Japanese, is it our real names? Like would i have "Amber" or "Torouh" written in Japanese?

KaiserMikeB - October 14, 2007 11:58 PM (GMT)
Usually the Handle, I think.
If you do Katakana it's phonetic. If you do Kanji and your Handle is real words we try to spell it with the appropriate symbols. If it's a name or a fake word we do it phonetically with Kanji (which sometimes makes for some hilarious spellings!)

So for example:

"Knight Sabre" in katakana would be "Na-i-to-se-i-ba"
In Kanji, probably "Samurai"-"Katana" or something lame like that. (though probably more accurate and less generic).

Either way would be fun *^.^* tee hee
