Title: Geneon to stop distributing
Description: A black day in anime...

rpb3000 - September 26, 2007 08:59 PM (GMT)
From ANN:

The onetime anime distribution company Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc. has notified its retail customers that it will cease "the sales of DVDs and all related distribution and marketing operations as of 5 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2007." The deadline for ordering all Geneon USA products is that time and date, and only orders for "catalog products in inventory or new releases with a street date" of November 6 or earlier will be accepted. Any outstanding retail orders will ship as soon as stock is available. No more returns will be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on November 30. The letter to retailers also says that "payables to Geneon remain unchanged."

Are you sure?

If it's true, then well, fuck. They have stuff I wanted to buy when I got a job. >.>

BUZUH? WHAT?

Someone else had better get the right to their shit, if it goes out of print permanently.... OH man. That won't be cool. That won't be cool at ALL.

(I still haven't gotten around to buying Last Exile ;_;)

Last Exile is exactly what I was thinking of.

I'm gonna rewatch it real soon. ^^

First their team up with ADV goes to shit now this. This sucks.

Now what will happen to Black Lagoon, Deltora Quest, the DBZ re release, new Hellsing Ultimate OVAs, and most importantly Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and yet even more important Nanoha A's?

Also will retailers cut prices on Geneon stock to clear it out? That would be the only good thing out of this.

That's not cool. Does anyone know why?

Well ADV was supposed to take over for them but I hear ADV were kind of dicks so that deal fell through. Since they couldn't turn a profit hence why they were dealing with ADV in the first place they just pulled out.

It was actually the japanese megacorp that shut down the American end before the deal was finalized.
