Title: Lottery of Doom

Vincent - September 10, 2007 08:40 PM (GMT)
So, this idea came to me..When I was trying not to think..We could number all the pre-regs (or all the ones who get premium for a smaller crowd) then toss the numbers in a hat and pick a few out. Winner could get a DVD or a T-shirt or something like that. >>

KaiserMikeB - September 10, 2007 09:00 PM (GMT)
That's not a half bad idea. It just sort of requires us having our shit together in a timely manner, which shouldn't be too big of an issue.

Vincent - September 10, 2007 09:02 PM (GMT)
Mike likes it. Wooo. O-o

Torouh - October 5, 2007 08:39 PM (GMT)
That sounds like a pretty neat idea! It would def. be fun at least.

Miccy - October 5, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
For some reason I think I've had this conversation...

Like everyone that does the premium registration can be entered into a lottery to win things?

Well, I like the idea, it would also mean more people would get a p. reg. ^___^ Plus it sounds exciting.

Yuffie - October 6, 2007 02:01 AM (GMT)
Millenacon does it. They give away a free hotel room for the weekend to the winner of the three day pre reg auction.

We won that one year.

KaiserMikeB - October 8, 2007 05:21 AM (GMT)
That's pretty lucky.

My reservations about such an idea is that it doesn't really add anything to the experience of the general con goer. By the time the award is selected most people have forgotten about the contest, and really only the winner cares, so basically we're spending a lot of money to really make one persons day in a way that most people won't even find out about.

Perhaps a raffle would be a better idea, with discount tickets to premium members. That way we make some of the money back, more people get into it, and we still get to reward our members who go beyond the necessary to be awesome.

Vincent - October 13, 2007 12:09 AM (GMT)
That also is good idea.

Geidaara - October 20, 2007 12:01 AM (GMT)
That sounds cool! *^.^*

While you are at it, maybe you should do a photo-shoot kinda booth thing. Have members of staff volunteer and let people pay like a dollar to have a cool photo op with them.

I know I would pay to grab a Gaara <.< Which, I hope to have a Gaara along with me :3 ~ Just have to figure out how to talk her into it >.> lol

Yuffie - October 20, 2007 01:03 PM (GMT)
Just from my personal experiance as a staffer, adding that on would be the last thing I'd want.

One of the worse parts of being staff was I kept being stopped for pictures while I had stuff to run off and do.

Geidaara - October 20, 2007 01:28 PM (GMT)
*Comfort* That is why the suggestion is to pick a select few, so the others can be free! lol

Codi - October 20, 2007 06:48 PM (GMT)
A raffle is a great idea! If it can get more people to pre-reg, and even premium at that, that's great. One thing I had thought about was that it might cheapen the idea of a premium badge - like if everyone has it sort of thing, what good is it? - but I think this only adds to the cool factor.

I think that sounds like fun, Geidaara. Photo booths, when held in a casual manner always produce fun photos ^_^

However, we also offer group photoshoots at certain times and locations, so that may or may not happen. (so you may get a pic with a Gaara afterall, I don't know many staffers who 1) cosplay and 2) cosplay Naruto charas)

And Yuffie, if you want to be a staffer and not be arsed for pictures, don't cosplay or wear something that's beyond a "non-descript" outfit. It's one of those extra-added responsibilities/perks/things you have to deal with if you're going to do that of being a cosplaying staffer. ^_^

KaiserMikeB - October 20, 2007 07:52 PM (GMT)
As it happens I'm not exactly thrilled when staffers cosplay in the first place, so it would be extra good advice to wear normal clothes (or a con tee shirt) when on duty.

Cosplaying while on staff isn't banned, but I do discourage it. I don't think it's very professional, and makes it harder for the members to differentiate the staffers from other normal people.

Geidaara - October 21, 2007 01:13 AM (GMT)
I get what you are saying :D

I still need to sucker...er...Talk my friend into being Gaara <.< I have another friend who is backing me up! ^^ tee hee

So true Mike <3 It is easier to spot the staffers when they don't blend in XD lol Same thing applies with Walmart's new dress code I think <.< Looking alike/standing out makes for easy "Hey, can you help me?"

Yuffie - October 21, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
You do? Yeah, Michael, I told you plently of times I was cosplaying at AP, you had plently of chances to tell me you didn't want that. --;

Btw, this brings up a great opportunity to mention the con t-shirts. Mine was a small, I have a tiny frame, and it fit great except for one part...the chest. It's so tight there, that even if I wear a bra the world gets to see bra and my boobs in detail. Is there a way to solve this next year? Please? I hate not being able to wear my t-shirt.

I'd seriously never been asked for pictures before, really. That was just the first time. I always dislike pictures in general, I just like dressing up.

Lothlin - October 21, 2007 02:50 AM (GMT)
Honestly? Unless we get specific staff shirts, it's hard to tell staffers apart from normal congoers ANYWAY. The giant red armbands we have helps amazingly, but at any other con? I'd have a hell of a time knowing if someone is a staffer unless I know them personally and know they staff. Unless there's specific conshirts.

Sorry man, I'm still cosplaying XD (And I've never even heard you say that before...)

LLMorphine - October 21, 2007 04:25 AM (GMT)
we could always get a set number of staff shirts for the people we know beforehand are going to be staff and use the same pattern as the regular ones, but just use different colors. that way the staffers could say ahead of time what size they want, including girls tees

Codi - October 21, 2007 05:56 AM (GMT)
Yuffie : Get a medium size, you keep asking questions that can be easily answered today o.O

Lothlin : Agreed! The armbands are the best things I've found for finding staffers. Since we don't have a set "Security" group, we don't have people in vests (which I have also found Most Useful), and con-shirts basically all look the same. Not a diss on the AP shirts, but I'm saying if they:

1) Look sort-of like last years and the year before that's not going to do any good, it'll mean you'll have to look very closely at someone's chest/back to discern a staffer from some AP enthusiast (sucks)

2) Even if we did sort of a more "special staff" shirt, it means we'd have to approximate a number of staffers (for AP? Heh), people would still have to look more for some sort of special insignia. (cool for staffers but more suck for average con-goer)

Don't get me wrong Michael, you know I very much love the shirts and how much I like to wear them ^_^ Just more-so playing devil's advocate here.

Getting back on topic, I think handing out shirts would be a good raffle prize, too.

KaiserMikeB - October 21, 2007 06:20 AM (GMT)
On the issue of staff shirts and recognition.

The shirts will be similar to last year. They will still be white, still have a logo on the breast, and probably still proudly tote Zeons flag on the sleave. The back design will be different.

Staffers WILL be able to get their shirts altered on-site to include a special staff logo on the left sleeve. They will also have their red armbands, and this year we will enforce that all staffers wear them on their Right arm. The staff badges (like last years) will be colored differently than the normal badges, have a unique image, and might even have a different layout.

Yuffie - October 21, 2007 10:53 AM (GMT)
No, I haven't, considering that's the only question.

But medium is too big! I want something I'm gonna wear, I don't wear too big shirts anymore.

*insert more bullshit here*

KaiserMikeB - October 21, 2007 11:55 AM (GMT)
You're bitching at a girl who has not given me a days solice about getting girls sizes, Yuffie.

I left the size selection up to the guys at Aardvark Tees. This year I'll be sure to suggest that he print girls sizes as well this time around.

Geidaara - October 21, 2007 03:03 PM (GMT)
That's good to hear Mike ^^

Yea, breasts are a major pain <.< They attract males nicely, but they make finding shirts and whatnot that fit well difficult XD lol And Yuffie, you sound like a friend of mine. She is skinny, and small, as can be but she has a chest to rival mine *^.^* Poor thing has one hell of a time finding shirts. lol. *Purrs on Yuffie to make her feel better* :nyan:

Yuffie - October 21, 2007 03:33 PM (GMT)
How am I suppose to know that Mike? But this was also one of those cases where I went off on something I didn't know, was completely wrong, basically I screwed up. Meh.

That's good to hear. Basically if it's not my size, I'm not gonna wear it.

Purring's nice. <3

Maybe so, I'm the smallest out of my friends with the 2nd biggest chest. I wear a lot of strech fabric stuff, and that helps. ^^ Otherwise, just accept the fact that probably my chest will be displayed nicely, whatever I'm in.

Why do I need boobs if I got a male? ;.;

Geidaara - October 22, 2007 03:53 AM (GMT)
I don't know...It keeps the male around? Oo;; lol Anyway, love the little egg thingy...so much I got one of my own, mwuhahahaha. <.< Yea, I'm half asleep...

So, shirts are great and I am used to baggy ones because of the chest problem XD lol

Yuffie - October 22, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
They are awesome. xD And will hatch sometime next week. *feeds yours a rare candy*

I look at the calendar to see about when Egg was gonna hatch, and discovered I hadn't changed my calendar from September yet. Such a bad month, October has been. Actually, it's my least favorite month of the year.

I use to be big into baggy shirts, then found fitting was more comfortable. And brings the ladies. xD Apparently. Poor Pj.

Geidaara - October 23, 2007 05:17 AM (GMT)
I love October, even if this one has been crazy hard on me XD lol Working two jobs is tough, that is for sure, but it betters my chances of being able to attend this year instead of having to wait until '09 :D

That, and I think I have 2 friends committed to coming with. Actually, my best friend (who is like a sister to me) and my BF (he just recently acquired that title XD lol) So I might end up Deidara, I might not. We might just do a group thing (though I still want to get my "sis" to be Gaara *insert evil grin*)

Oh! That gave me an idea <.< Give her a choice, Gaara or Sakura >.> Unless she is really desperate not to be Gaara...I know I'll win either way XD lol

Form fitting is ok, but...yea, I can't find very many that fit my form ^^; Anyway, *feeds your egg a rare candy*
