Title: Atrium activities
KaiserMikeB - August 3, 2007 07:22 PM (GMT)
This year the "Atrium" is actually just a centralized compartment of the ballroom. So while we'll still have a relaxing common area, it will be a little more secluded this year.
Of course the Bards will be playing in there off and on, and possibly random DJ'ing too. Are there other events/ideas/whatever that you guys would think would be awesome to have in there?
Codi - August 3, 2007 07:26 PM (GMT)
I'm all about the Hokey Pokey.

That's what it's ALL about.

In all seriousness, how about Pictionary? Since it'll be in a boardroom (right?) I imagine there will be a whiteboard handy. I don't remember if we had it at AP last year, but the Pictionary game my friends and I ran at Animarathon was pretty damn fun, and it's a good game for any sized group.

KaiserMikeB - August 9, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
The atrium is in several sections of the Ballroom, not the board room.
Either way though, I'm all about this idea! If not in the atrium with a big pad of paper, then in a panel room later on. Sounds like fun!
sesshouga - August 10, 2007 01:58 AM (GMT)
I LOVE ANIME PICTIONARY!! I'm definitely all for that!
Alex - August 10, 2007 03:41 AM (GMT)
In fact, I have a great picture I took with my phone of the very last anime that was drawn, and very rightfully, it decided the game! It was "My Sexual Harrassment"! XD
sesshouga - August 10, 2007 01:53 PM (GMT)
Boku no sexual harassment=<3
Yuffie - September 9, 2007 11:33 PM (GMT)
A pokemon trading center. Other activities can be going on, but just give us a corner, time, and make it an actual event. ^^
KaiserMikeB - September 10, 2007 07:34 AM (GMT)
This is a mos-def for real yo.
We are definitely having a pokemon trading meet scheduled.
Yuffie - September 10, 2007 10:16 AM (GMT)
I think general thought is we'd like it on Sunday morning if possible.
Centaura - September 10, 2007 02:22 PM (GMT)
Pokemon Trading Meet, huh...
If I hadn't already convinced one of my friends to come, that sure as hell would have sealed the deal.
Lothlin - September 10, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
Early Sunday sounds good to me too; people can hang out once they're done moving out of rooms and before the couple of big sunday panels start up.
It might be a good idea to get a thread started up on the forums closer to the convention, then, for people to put up pokemon that they'll be trading so they know what to bring/what they'll be looking for. And maybe a sheet somewhere in the atrium on friday that people can jot down what they want (or what they're willing to give/breed), so people can prepare if they need to breed up some eggs.
Yuffie - September 10, 2007 07:46 PM (GMT)
That would be awesome. Maybe a system where people put down the pkm they have, then people comment of it they want it. A forum on here, definitely.
LLMorphine - September 10, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
apples to apples is also a fun game, but i only wish there were an anime version. but hey, there's enough time that if we wanted to we could make our own, we'd just need a ton of the red cards. I'm sure we could still just use the regular green cards since they're all just adjectives and it would make much less work XD
Yuffie - September 10, 2007 11:00 PM (GMT)
Yes...or how about Munchkin? ^^
And pkm trading figures if they have a decent game. If they did, I'd run the event...cept I'll probably be needed elsewhere. :/

Apples to Ringos checked. The makers of Apples to Apples, Out of the Box, has another games called Cineplexity where you draw cards that have different things dealing with movies; generes, actors, props, and others; and you have to name a movie with them. We could do the anime version as well, Anipleixty.
I would like to have Pkm minis tourny or at least some demos, but I think finding an offical tournment organizer is a good idea. It makes the game more official and companies usually send prize support.
Yuffie - September 11, 2007 07:32 PM (GMT)
An official guy would be so awesome.
lycwolf - October 24, 2007 09:34 PM (GMT)
I will have my PA system as usual. So we will have full use of it. I hope to have some better components for karaoke by then
Geidaara - October 25, 2007 12:47 AM (GMT)
Karaoke! Yeah! I can't sing though T.T It is fun <3
KaiserMikeB - October 25, 2007 05:38 AM (GMT)
Sweet.
Yeah, I'm already scheming with dance setups with all the lights we'll have on hand too!
IY_Geek_Gal - November 18, 2007 04:01 AM (GMT)
Just a thought...What about "Anime Simon Says"? Like, the leader could say "Simon says pose like Sailor Moon!" or something. >.< And people could pose like her...I have no clue. @.@
vamninrate - November 19, 2007 04:22 AM (GMT)
What if there was a space for plushies, like people that make there own could showem off or sell them or offer secrets or w/e?

Selling plushies you make would be best by purchasing a table in the Artist Alley ^_^
If you wanna show them off, just walk around with them!
If you wanna share "secrets", then maybe offer a plushie making tutorial, although there probably wouldn't be much interest in that :(
vamninrate - November 19, 2007 07:54 AM (GMT)
Thats cool, I was just throwin ideas out there. :)
KaiserMikeB - November 19, 2007 11:39 PM (GMT)
We also had a plushi RPG last year that might be coming back this year.
That simon says thing could be fun!

My pikachu is a tenth level paladin.
The History Follower - November 20, 2007 04:34 PM (GMT)
It was more like plushie miniture wargame.
In Simon Says a person states an action and other people do it, or don't if he doesn't say 'Simon Says', where in the anime one you may actual end up saying something people don't understand. Like referenceing a series they haven't seen or maybe tell them to do an action they can't remeber.
Not to say I don't like the idea of take such a game and making it more anime related, I just don't think Simon Says is the best one to do. Personally I've thought about doing Fruits Basket Turnover, the game that inspired Fruits Basket, or at least the name of the series.
IY_Geek_Gal - November 21, 2007 12:00 AM (GMT)
Then how about Anime Truth or Dare? @.@ :shoots self:
IY_Geek_Gal - November 26, 2007 10:41 PM (GMT)
What if someone brings Twister? >///< God, I'm pullin gthings out of my ear today! XD
vamninrate - November 27, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
what about, and i think this might ave been brought up earlier, but apples to apples, or theres a realy fun game called Loaded Questions if anyones heard of it.
Lothlin - November 28, 2007 12:41 AM (GMT)
Could you describe those in more detail?
The History Follower - November 28, 2007 06:38 PM (GMT)
Found an interesting party game to play, Stupid Ninja Game.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stupid_Ninja_Game Plus a couple of others,
The No Game,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_No_Game Carneli
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CarnelliWhat I was able to find about Loaded Questions:
"If you were invisible, where would you go?" "If you could be a member of any TV-sitcom family, what would you choose?" Rated one of the hottest new board games by USA Today, The Chicago Tribune, The San Francisco Chronicle and Games Magazine, Loaded Questions is the hilarious new board game that tests players on how well they know each other with over 500 fun personality-filled questions.
The part about testing on how well the players know each other doesn't seem like it would work to well for the con. If played as an open event it would have a bunch of people who don't know each other and I don't think that's really the point of the game. I could be wrong.
Would anyone want to play 'Anime Punch the Board Game' cause I was planning on making one.
Centaura - November 28, 2007 08:47 PM (GMT)
There's also a game my friends and I play, which is also featured on a soda commercial (lawl), where you write the name of a person on a Post-It and stick it on someone else's forehead. Then everyone has to ask yes or no questions to figure out who they are (a la 21 Questions, only unlimited). Playing this with a limit to anime characters could be fun, though easier since the genre's already down.
Just a thought, it's simple and fun, though perhaps a little TOO simple...

I'd play it as long as it was entertaining.
KaiserMikeB - November 29, 2007 12:58 AM (GMT)
I probably wouldn't play an anime punch board game. What would it revolve around?

Of course you wouldn't want to play it. It's a game based off of Anime Punch, it would suck so much. :P
Ok, that was a little mean. I'm sorry.
In all seriousness, the game would have your going around a board with space representing different activities at the con. The point would be to collect a certain number of tokens from the different types of events, so there would be cosplay ones, panel ones, game ones, food ones, shopping ones, and stuff along that line. Kind of hard to explain with out an actual board.
