Title: The new website
Description: is sort-of here

Codi - July 31, 2007 04:31 AM (GMT)
I finally was able to crack my knuckles and finish the first phase of the re-design of the Anime Punch site. Please check it out! (I shouldn't have to link it, everyone should know it by heart :P)

I'd like to thank Michael for sticking through it with me, generally being helpful, and just as creative. I'm not going to take all of the credit here, it's also yours too ^_^ So.. thanks <3

This is only the first phase, there will be some initial changes as time goes on, but I think this new design reflects AP much better.

Looks great! Good job!

What was the reason for the black background? The page looked happier with black letters on a white background.

Aquaangelus - July 31, 2007 06:17 AM (GMT)
It looks great!! The black and red color scheme has a nice contrast and it really grabs your attention. Plus, it looks more mature and less cutesy, which is more inviting to a older crowd. I really like what you did with the title font too! This is really awesome! It makes me wish that I knew how to make pretty websites. ;_; There is much to learn for me. Great job! :D

Very nice. I like it better compared to the old style...then again, I always preferred dark color schemes anyway. ^^

My personal opinion, I like the arrangement of the graphics a lot, I think that looks better.

However, I do not like the white text on black background. It's really hard for me to read, and I think it's look kinda unprofessional.

My personal opinion, I like the arrangement of the graphics a lot, I think that looks better.

However, I do not like the white text on black background. It's really hard for me to read, and I think it's look kinda unprofessional.

If I had wanted to go professional, I would've stuck with one of the first three designs on the site I did, heh.

Also, the black background is easier on my eyes personally, cause I know when I first began working on the site I got a massive headache from all of the gray/light purple/white beaming at it. Also it sticks with the theme of AP way better than the old design.

Even if you think it's unprofessional, I'd rather be known for the con that has a kickass site than the stiff professional sites I was going to use ^_^

and Brian, your sig .-.;;;

It looks a lot more edgy. <3

I'm tired of the blue colour scheme just about every other con website has. (What up with that anyway?)
In contrast to the poster above, this design is much easier on my eyes.
Thanks for the new layout. ^^

sesshouga - July 31, 2007 05:31 PM (GMT)
I really like it! I like how the colors are darker and how Ann is featured as well as Penny <3

One thing though. I found a typo (go figure XD)

"...being said we welcome people of all ages, but don't expect us to change how we do things to suite your needs." That spells suite (sweet) it should be suit (soot) lol. Sorry about my gramarian culture.

Again, still love the new site! It rawks really damn hard!

Yuffie - July 31, 2007 05:57 PM (GMT)
I'm all for a site that is fun, I really am, but you also want to be taken seriously and show this is something you are serious about! Although the talent that went into making the website design already hints toward that. And I believe when it gets closer to con time and the web page gets that on there it will probably look more so.

I find the larger concern is the fact I'm a struggling reading the website right now. I have old person eyesight, so if I'm having a problem probably so will older people, namely adults trying to preregister their kids, and get info on this con.

My suggestion would be not to change everything, but on the con info page change to black and white for that page.

Anyway, I'm just expressing my opinion and ideas, you don't have to do anything.

Wow! Really nice! Looks much better this way. I kinda like the darker scemes, it adds more atmosphere. (expecially when someone reads the "secret agenda" part under the WHY? Section. Hehe! ^^)

Drifter - July 31, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)
I personally prefered the lighter, previous scheme. But eh. Secret agenda does sound nice. And really, as long as the con kicks ass again, it matters not it's websites layout. So it's all good. And I doubt anyone gives a damn about my bad eyesight anyways. So rock on.

Yuffie - July 31, 2007 11:19 PM (GMT)
...I'm not sure what you're saying, but part of me really feels, don't have that attuitude.

You have a right to have a say in the website, it's goal is to be workable for anyone attending the convention.

People should give a damn about people with bad eyesight. They exist, and has already been shown, are using the website too. And I think it's important to take everyone's concerns in mind.

This isn't just some personal website, some game, it's a commercial website trying to convince people to come to our con, and there's a lot of importance in making it viewable for everyone.

...so speak up for yourself. As long as your problems are reasonable, if someone gives you a hard time for it, they're the jerk, not you.

When I originally told Codi what I wanted from the site (which includes the colorscheme) I was very concerned about using a black background. After all, black backgrounds are seen far less on professional sites, and far more on 15 year old girls myspace accounts.

After a lot of internal and external debate with myself and others, I decided to go ahead and tell Codi to go with the black, as it would look more striking, and would better match the style and atmosphere I was going for. I beleive Codi originally wanted a "Scarlet and Grey" colorscheme similar to these forums.

Beleive me that a lot of thought went into this decision, and I understand where you guys are coming from when you say you don't agree with it.

Also, Yuffie, highlighting the text reverses it to the old color scheme.

LittleNicoleLost - August 1, 2007 03:52 AM (GMT)
>.> I told you Codi.

It's completely sexy as did Michelle. I am in much love with it.

Yuffie - August 1, 2007 12:47 PM (GMT)
The main thing is just having a hard time reading it. Highlighting the text still is very hard to read for some reason, but it's readable.

Though if in the future, you guys decide to make it a little clearer to read, my bf pointed out that changing it from white to a gray-white would make it much easier to read as well as barely changing anything.

Faery-phoenix - August 1, 2007 05:07 PM (GMT)
It's awesome. I'm gone for a little while and the site changes, for a second thought I was on the wrong site.

Miccy - August 5, 2007 03:59 PM (GMT)
I love the setup, and I know I went over it all with you on AIM, Codi, but the point being that the world has to know that I believe that of all other convention fronts, I have to say I love ours the most. :]

It's my favorite, and it's the most 'prettyest' and 'hardcore' webpage eva, dawg.

Mishikotoko - August 7, 2007 05:45 PM (GMT)
The webpage tops all other conventions. The reason why, well coloring, and how the links to different pages on the site aren't vertical, or horizontal only. ^_^
