Title: Harvest Moon

sesshouga - July 13, 2007 03:50 AM (GMT)
Does anyone else on here have a serious addiction to HM games, or am I the only one? XD

I own a lot of the games. Actually I'm kinda collecting them XD. And I've really enjoyed almost all of them. Currently I'm playing the one for the SNES because, due to it's rarity, I haven't been able to get my hands on one until recently when I discovered that my friend owns it =O

Ahem...anyway...favorite games of the series? Or....farm status...or...something? XD

KaiserMikeB - July 13, 2007 05:19 AM (GMT)
before I say anything else to you...

Did you hook up with Ann?

LittleNicoleLost - July 13, 2007 06:23 PM (GMT)
HM = Love

But it's only love if you hook up with the fisherman Ray.

LoL, not really but he's my favorite. Anyway :D

Yuffie - July 13, 2007 06:56 PM (GMT)
I've tried Harvest Moon, but it never keeps my interest. ;.; It just doesn't work for me.

Codi - July 13, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
I hooked up with Ann. It's those overalls and high-up ponytail. Plus she's a redhead.

And man, the original one for SNES is win, but hard as hell. I much prefer Mineral Town to any of the other towns.

cori - July 13, 2007 08:51 PM (GMT)
I almost hooked up with Ann, but I decided to go for Elli midway through.
Though Popuri was my first.

Well I enjoy Forget Me Not Valley, but man are they wackos up in there.

The original one is certainly hard as hell. No clock, use the sun! You can't get any of the babes who work a job during the day so you go for the town slut 'cause she works at night! Magical Farm Sprites in my backyard!
OMG ITS JUST LIKE REAL FARMING!

I seriously love HM.

smokie - July 13, 2007 09:04 PM (GMT)
Ann, Popuri, Karen I've tapped all that ass at one point. Back to Nature for Playstation is probably my favorite HM game.

sesshouga - July 13, 2007 10:52 PM (GMT)
Let's see. In HM back to nature and 64, I hooked up with Karen. I liked her drunken attitude =D My sister got with Ann. She seems to be the flavor of the AP boards though, huh? I also played the More Friends of Mineral Town for girls and married the doctor because I always wanted to marry him when I was playing Back to Nature, but sadly, two men can't get married XD

And the original Harvest Moon isn't that hard, in my opinion anyway ^^ I'm in the summer of the first year now and I've got a clock from having my house upgraded once. And I've been making lots and lots of money due to my addiction to planting crops. It really helps that time stops flowing after 6PM. I can get a lot of work done that way. And when I'm tired, I'd just jump in the hot springs and do more work. =D I also discovered a way to get all the girls to like me really easily. I just kept answering their questions over and over and now Ann, Nina, and Eve all have the full 5 hearts for me and Maria has three. Ellen is still being all prude though and only has one -_-;;;

I own a lot (perhaps too many....) HM games and I really like the Magical Melody game for the Gamecube. Has anyone else played that one? It's a little more challenging but it's really really fun.

And LittleNicoleLost, Kurt isn't a fisherman. His brother Joe is though ^^ Kurt's the carpenter with the blonde spiked hair.

LittleNicoleLost - July 14, 2007 01:11 AM (GMT)
Gah. I always screw up names =.=

I'm practically useless when it comes to them, I edited the post though.

I originally courted Kurt in MM but switched to the much more adorable fisherman Ray.

sesshouga - July 14, 2007 01:13 AM (GMT)
I had to make two files >.>;;;

I married the doctor but then I wanted Dan XD

Then.....I started ANOTHER file because I wanted to play as a guy and marry a girl XD

LittleNicoleLost - July 14, 2007 01:15 AM (GMT)
My sister married the Doctor...his name was Alex right?

I have full hearts on Ray and Jamie...hmm

But yes, MM is harder but interesting.

I've yet to be a boy though. I would have to fawn over the one bartender.

KaiserMikeB - July 14, 2007 06:41 AM (GMT)
In A wonderful life I kept hitting on Lumina but it turned out she was a loli and couldn't date ;_;

sesshouga - July 14, 2007 06:44 AM (GMT)
But there's a special edition for A Wonderful Life out for the PS2 where Lumina is a cantidate for marriage. The A Wonderful Life series wasn't one of my favorites though. I thought time passed much too slowly and there wasn't ever enough to do. I also didn't like the way the farming wasn't the traditional way it had been done in so many HM games before it. There simply wasn't enough room to plant crops! =P

LittleNicoleLost - July 14, 2007 06:53 AM (GMT)
I bought all the extra land in Magical Melody so I could have a home, a barnyard, and a field.

As it were, I agree as far as A Wonderful Life goes. There was simply no planting room. But I did have some very happy fishing and horse riding.

I wondered why they called it a Special Edition, it's essentially just the PS2 version. *shrug* XD
So Michael, you can borrow it from me and pursue Lumina if you want to. I was going to myself.

I really enjoy A Wonderful Life for GC. It's been the most realistic HM yet for me, but its also the last one I've played. ..with the creepy exception of Tartan that is. People move in and out of the town, the weather changes throughout the day just slightly, your kid grows up, you actually start to physically age as the chapters move on.. and ducks!!! You can own ducks!!
I mean, starting out by sharing a farm with an older gentleman, only having so much room, and having soil of different quality types.. it just seems more plausible than what the other HMs had done up to that point.
The only downside are the bizarre townspeople. Boy are they BIZARRE.

smokie - July 14, 2007 04:29 PM (GMT)
Save the Homeland for PS2. It was kinda terrible. I mean the cel shading graphics were alright(in my opinion) but, the gameplay not so much. It was too far from what previous games had been. You didn't even really have to farm and raise livestock. The biggest gripe though: HM finally gives us some kaiwaii new girls and you can't marry them. Wheres the justice?

sesshouga - July 14, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)
Tell me about it! I totally wanted Gina! There was something about her shyness and maid's outfit that I couldn't resist!

smokie - July 15, 2007 03:36 PM (GMT)
Am I the only one who gets the feeling Mike tried to go after Tim? "Hello little boy I heard you like to explore. hehehehe"

sesshouga - July 15, 2007 04:26 PM (GMT)
I tried to go after Tim.... >_>;;;

Miccy - July 18, 2007 02:15 AM (GMT)
I've been playing "Another Wonderful Life", and I'm going after Marlin... who is one sexy man. Fuck Rock to hell and his "babe" callin'!

With Magical Melody I married Alex, and we had a lovely little boy that I named Roland. I then decided that I really had wanted to marry Carl, the cook. :[ <3333 I have Jamie, Nina, Alex, and Carl on full hearts right now, and I need to devorce Alex.

sesshouga - July 18, 2007 04:19 PM (GMT)
A Wonderful Life/Another Wonderful Life didn't keep my attention for very long. I played them both for a little while and then got very bored. I ended up marrying Nami in AWL and Gustafa in ANWL. Yeah I luff them hippies <3.

As for Magical Melody, I don't think you can divorce your husband. I married the doctor too because I've had a huge thing for him since Back to Nature but then after we were married I got really bored with him after a while because he was too much of a goody-goody. So I made a new file and married Dan. I don't care if his voice sounds like a dog being murdered. He's a pirate! XD

And for some reason many many people have full hearts for me...my character's a whore I guess XD

Miccy - July 18, 2007 05:33 PM (GMT)
I have been working on everything else but gettin everyone's hearts up, and working on gettin other notes, which now I'm trying to get everyone's notes, so I've been really working on it.

I saved another file right before I married Alex, so if I wanted to, I could just marry someone else, but in the game it's been about a year and a half since I married Alex, and I have SO MUCH more stuff and money, it's like, Is it worth going back and playing?

Definently Alex is too concerned about you, but hey, he loves us, and just wants to make sure we're doing well. x333;; What wife could ask for more?

sesshouga - July 18, 2007 09:52 PM (GMT)
Yeah I guess so. But I think I like the idea of a guy loving me more. Like Dan is always saying "Have good dreams tonight my love. I'll be dreaming of you!"

I have a lot of music notes. Around 70-75 I think....but I haven't played in a while.

DAMMIT THIS IS MAKING ME WANNA PLAY SO BADLY!!

Miccy - July 19, 2007 06:03 PM (GMT)
I'm allowing my friend Jessica play it, and my Katamari game... okay, Holland's game which I have yet to return. x.x;;

This is not Biggs - July 24, 2007 03:35 AM (GMT)
Harvest Moon is too complicated for me. Farming? Too much work.
Now, Katamari on the other hand... Rolling shit up? I can do that.

But all my sisters are totally into Harvest Moon.

Miccy - July 25, 2007 06:00 AM (GMT)
It makes me want to farm and have animals...
but then I think about it, and I live in a farming town...and it scares me.

sesshouga - July 26, 2007 01:15 AM (GMT)
I have pets and they're enough for me. I enjoy my virtual crops and animals. And hell, I LOVE having a virtual spouse!

Miccy - August 5, 2007 03:49 PM (GMT)
I think we have every pet simulation game ever. Haha.

Sims 2 Pets (PS2, and DS)
Ninendogs (Lab and Chiwawa)
CATZ!
Hamsters Life

Harvest Moon is one of them for me. I love my animals.

When I start a game that requires me to name animals, or things I keep (such as all the pokemon games) I generally go by a genre I'm going to name all of them after. Someitmes I use Foods, Countries, Friends, but for HM, I used Pokemon, and named everything after Pokemon...

sesshouga - August 5, 2007 06:37 PM (GMT)
I named all my harvest moon animals after hot Asian celebrities.... >_>;;

And NO, I'm not talking about Gackt as most people might assume XD

Miccy - August 5, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
I'd have assumed. O_o;

We don't own pets... ;~; And thus why I take great care of my fake ones.

Harvest Moon my introduction to the dating sim. Fond memories. :D

sesshouga - August 5, 2007 09:27 PM (GMT)
Yes definately. I was so young and naive at the time that I first played Harvest Moon: Back to Nature. I was like: "OMG A GAME WHERE YOU CAN GET MARRIED! NO WAY!!"

So was I. Thats why Save the Homeland pissed me off. No nookie. :(

sesshouga - August 6, 2007 03:09 PM (GMT)
Save the Homeland was actually the first HM game I played. I think that's probably the reason I freaked out so badly after I saw that you CAN get married in Harvest Moon when I played BTN which was my second.

*gasp*!! I have a Harvest Moon sheep like that! <3

smokie - August 10, 2007 09:09 PM (GMT)
Damn now I want mini figures of the Harvest Sprites from Back to Nature. Or maybe a nice figure of the Harvest Goddess.

Lunarocity - August 11, 2007 12:45 AM (GMT)
Oh Rachel, you forgot to mention the best part about the HM addiction. Having two sisters who are almost as equally addicted, and only one TV in the house. Now that's when it starts to get fun. Luckily we have a few different ones for GB/DS. I love the days when we all spend hours playing our respective HM games and it's practically dead quite in the house.

Ann was always my favorite. She was hot stuff.

Now see, I love AWL/AnWL because I'm not the type that plays to plant a lot of crops. I play to have animals and a family. So it was the best for me. I married Muffy in the one version, then Rock in the other. I love the concept of having a child that grows up and you can play with--it's my favorite part of the whole game. They need to make more like that.

But the absolute best HM character is Kurt <333 I swear if I could've found a way to get married in STHM, I would've married him. So I just had to settle for visiting him a billion times a day.

WHO IS LOOKING FOWARD TO HARVEST MOON FOR THE WII? It sounds so cool.

sesshouga - August 11, 2007 01:31 AM (GMT)
Harvest Moon DS is more than an addiction. It's a lifestyle o_O

XD

And I can't wait for HM Wii. And that's the same day that HMDS2 comes out. I'm so excited. :D

Yuffie - August 11, 2007 01:33 AM (GMT)
I've considered Harvest Moon for the DS, but never brought myself to buy it.

That sounds like my house, except we all play pokemon. My mom and I are the worse!
