Title: Event ideas?

KaiserMikeB - April 16, 2007 07:22 AM (GMT)
Fieldcon is historically very laid back with few events, but that doesn't mean we're not open to suggestions.

What do you guys want to do out in the woods?

rpb3000 - April 16, 2007 05:03 PM (GMT)
I vote for the return of the martial arts training session. Because it was epic, even if I couldn't for the life of me get the hang of that one motion.

Kag-ST - April 16, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
Hot potatoe?

crknight29 - April 16, 2007 10:39 PM (GMT)
if anyone cares, i could teach tai chi in the morning. great for centering your chi.

CHo - April 17, 2007 12:51 AM (GMT)
I'm all for the tai chi. As well as anything involving charging about in the wilderness.

What about hide & seek, or some variant thereof? I know we already have capture the flag, but what if we have 13 (or some other prime number of people) running about in the woods and the rest of the con has to catch them/surround them on 4 sides? Or is the harm potential too great for that?

KaiserMikeB - April 17, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
The problem is that the forest there sucks. Since it is all second growth that sprung up after they stripmined the whole fucking area it's all dense brush and honeysuckles and stuff, so there aren't any good forests to run around in... just a Field.

Codi - April 17, 2007 02:22 AM (GMT)
But I like honeysuckles. :(

What about campfire sing-along? And when I say campfire songs I mean Pokemon's "Viridian City".

This is not Biggs - April 17, 2007 06:18 AM (GMT)
We keep on try-AN and then we'll try some more...
To stay together and find a place we're fighting fo-o-o-o-or!
I'm on the roooooad!
I'm on the Ro-o-o-oad!

I'm on the road to Viridian Citaaaaaaaay!

Okay, now I'm seriously going to start writing my seven page term paper due at 11 AM!

KaiserMikeB - April 17, 2007 06:59 AM (GMT)
I'm all about that!

Yuffie - April 17, 2007 08:19 PM (GMT)
Ugh, I despise that song. Sing-a-long of every pokemon theme song would be fun!

Eh, I obviously won't be there though. Maybe an event at ap next year...

LLMorphine - April 18, 2007 12:16 AM (GMT)
Any chance of finding people with kendo sticks to whack each other with? I've got a friend who's brother works at a martial arts dojo that has lessons. Maybe I can convince him to come out and bring some, maybe give a few basic lessons beforehand. Obviously we'd have to have rules so as not to cause TOO much bruising, but maybe have a tournament of some kind where people sign up ahead of time so we can put together a bracket.

crknight29 - April 18, 2007 12:35 AM (GMT)
i had one, but i lost it when i moved many years ago.
i took kendo for about 3 years. it was fun, yet painful.

Ah single stick a gentlemans hobby. If only it had not died out so that we to could reap its benefits like Theordore Roosevelt and General Leonard Wood did.

amyloveyou87 - April 28, 2007 04:46 PM (GMT)
Do you think there should be a flyer, so maby there might be more people?

Modest Empress - June 2, 2007 03:23 PM (GMT)
Kick the can!

That'd be fun!

Or Marco Polo!

Or a Pinata! I want to hit things with a stick!

Codi - June 2, 2007 03:43 PM (GMT)

OMFG yes. I second this SO MUCH.

Miccy - June 2, 2007 03:44 PM (GMT)
:0 lets make a Mike pinata!

I'm sure all of us would love to hit that. :3 <333

smokie - June 2, 2007 09:32 PM (GMT)
I saw Mike at AP and I have no desire to "hit" that. Now that dreamy Crispin Freeman is another story.

Vincent - June 8, 2007 09:44 PM (GMT)
Beware! A titan walks the earth!

Wait..What?

I agree on the Mike Pinata though. Of course without the little squiggle it's a (pin-atta)
