Title: Help Tsugaru become Sarcastic
Description: She has no sence of saracasm!!!

Tsugaru - April 9, 2007 05:46 AM (GMT)
Yeah. :o

I have no sence of sarcasm, and my mom and brother have attempted to try to teach me the art. They have failed. Maybe you guys can help me become saracastic, and maybe I'll understand the forum-speak a little better. ^_^;;

rpb3000 - April 9, 2007 08:09 PM (GMT)
The answer is simple: lurk moar.

And for the crash course, lurk around on 4chan for a day.

Tsugaru - April 9, 2007 08:13 PM (GMT)
I lurk around 4chan often. Usually I just see something I shouldn't have and exit, or I just don't get it.

Kaisermikeb - April 9, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
Everything we say is sarcastic, so you've come to the right place.

Of course that gets us in trouble with groups of people that collectively have no sense of humor.

...you know who I'm talking about!

Centaura - April 9, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
Sarcasm is either something you're born with...or learn by experience.

Sooo, keep talking to sarcastic bastards like the lot of us and you should pick it up eventually.

Oh!, or you can come to New York for like a month. You'll be a pro. Srsly.

Lol @ Mike. >.>

Tsugaru - April 9, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
Yep. I know. =O

lol. I know not to take everything you guys say seriously now, so I guess that's good.

...Maybe I should lurk 4chan more..(moar...)

Centaura - April 9, 2007 08:25 PM (GMT)
That's a good start XD Detection is a good sign!

Tsugaru - April 9, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
I know its hard to type out sarcasm.
If I try for now on, I should start typing *sarcasm*
XD;;

offtopic: I just found pictures of this really sexy beatmania IIDX cosplayer...

Okies, back on topic. How would you describe the sarcastic tone?

Kaisermikeb - April 9, 2007 08:45 PM (GMT)
It's a form of verbal irony, and if you're really good you don't even need a tone. Basically you say one thing while meaning the opposite.

Incidentally, I can't think of a good example right now that doesn't have to do with Greenday, so I'll post again when I think of one.

Centaura - April 9, 2007 08:51 PM (GMT)
Usually mine involves "Yeah, that's a good plan", when describing a truly horrible idea. Or "good job!". Those are really mild ones, though. They're pretty obvious. I can do better XD

The art professor I have today is one of the most sarcastic people on earth. It's like a double class. Learn to make art AND douchebaggery!

Coincidentally, Green Day just started playing on my iTunes.

Tsugaru - April 9, 2007 08:54 PM (GMT)
I am starting to understand a little more.

So next time I hear that my ex got the Police called on him for being a troublemaker, I should just tell him it was a wonderful idea, and tell him to go do it again?

Edit: I know nothing of Green Day, so I'm completely lost there.

Centaura - April 10, 2007 03:02 AM (GMT)
Do it!

Though if he's dense you might want to make it sound particularly sarcastic so he doesn't actually do it again. >.> It would be like watching poor Sanjaya on American Idol not understand that Simon was being totally sarcastic when he said his performance was "incredible".

Unless of course you WANT him to do it again, which is awesome.

Kamiokande - April 10, 2007 03:49 AM (GMT)
OK, here is the plan! We convert this into a furry forum! Everyone change your icons to furry icons that day, and speak of nothing but furries!

That's sarcasm

Kaisermikeb - April 10, 2007 04:10 AM (GMT)
oh, I was serious about that one. Just for a day!

OMG you are one of the few people I have scene use the word douchebaggery outside of my close circle of friends.

Which is interesting, because it is also used heavily within MY circle of friends. XD

Tsugaru - April 10, 2007 01:48 PM (GMT)
So, like..

another way to do it is to (sorry for pointing you out so much, Smokie, but, I think you ended up gaining a million respect points in my eyes [get it?!])

Telling smokie that I hate his signature and that video that he posted... because I love the signature and video (its a shame its broken!)

Metal McFire - April 10, 2007 03:57 PM (GMT)
yeah, thats pretty basic but you got the right idea. and the green day think is because green day sucks. so they were being sarcastic when they said they liked them (i hope anyways) :domo:

Tsugaru - April 10, 2007 04:07 PM (GMT)
Ah yes, they do suck. I used to like their older stuff, but I just got so wrapped up into the techno/electronic universe to care about most Rock Music, though, I am a fan of fusion style. :3

Okies, I think I am starting to get a hang of it. I'll test later.

SHIT, SON. IT'S ON NOW!

Maybe sarcasm is one of those things you're better off without, Tsu. But if you're hell-bent on learning how to be rude to others without provocation, you're in the right place.

Tsugaru - April 10, 2007 05:56 PM (GMT)
Of course I am better off without it, but, I feel out of my loop of friends. =\
They're sarcastic, and I have NO idea when they are meaning it.

...As my mom puts it, I have an "older soul", as majority of my friends, and my brother and herself, have a "young soul"..

My brother is yelling at the ice cream truck. lol

Kaisermikeb - April 10, 2007 07:10 PM (GMT)
Typically though (and I rarely follow this advice) sarcasm is used towards things you are negative towards.
Like, rather than saying "Gah, your signature is so stupid, Smokie, I hate little girls so much" (when in reality I like his sig) it would make more sense to be like "Oh your signature is so cute, Smokie, I just love how you have all your little loli's lined up in a row" (When in reality I hate the sig, and am calling him a pedo).

Online, without tone of voice, it's a lot harder to be sarcastic. You have to be a lot more clever about it (something I have not been able to do this thread).

Oh, i'm sorry you started liking lame music instead of rock. I get bored really fast with techno... Green Day just suck cuz they sold out. :domo:

Centaura - April 10, 2007 09:05 PM (GMT)
Like Mike said, sarcasm is usually on the negative side - saying positive things about something you obviously don't think is positive. It CAN work, though.

Like if someone asked me if I disliked Eva, I could say "Yeah, that's why I watched the whole series in like two days straight and go to my friends' houses for marathons. I obviously hate Eva."

As for Green Day, I stopped liking them after American Idiot, and even that was a stretch.

And I dig techno, lmao.

There, that was sarcasm! He's not sorry! He's just being a jerk!

BTW, this is not a greenday thread.

Lothlin - April 10, 2007 09:34 PM (GMT)
Also, I really hate when people get pissed at bands because they get a label. HAY THEY HAVE TO MAKE MONEY, they can't be starving musicians for the rest of their life!

I say good for them.

/end rant

NO BLOOD MUSIC FOR COST OF LIVING!

Tsugaru - April 11, 2007 02:54 AM (GMT)
Well, I understand that they do have fans. Somethings of theirs I like, some I don't.

Some rock is ok, like the older stuff or Japanese rock.. (Akira Yamaoka does some rockish stuff, along with hip-hoppish and technoish. I love Yamaoka-san)

Okies, so back on topic.
I think I used some when I was out playing DDR SuperNOVA today. My friend kept asking me if I was alright (nearly blacked out playing too many 9s. I HATE YOU PARANOiA ~Respect~...but how I love you so!!) and I replied to her in a semi-harsh tone, breathing heavily in a slight pain "Yeah, Sure I'm alright~!"

Oh, of course, she had to help me down the stairs afterwards. Then I had this guy ask me if I Full Combo'd "Sexy Planet (From Non-stop Megamix)". I was like "Oh, hell no"... but in all actuality, I did full combo it. Then I just got distracted from him and my friend yelling something about Pheonix Wrong, and him bowing to me playing Xepher. o_O;;

Seems my sarcasm loves me when playing DDR. Espically when I start complaining that I'll kill if I hear the song "Tsugaru" one more time.. (it's how I got my username. =\ )

There! That was sarcasm! XD

Tsugaru - April 11, 2007 04:21 AM (GMT)
Yippee! I think I am finally starting to understand it.. Now, just how to tell my friends are using it on me. XD;;

Thanks for all the help guys. ^___^;;

Just a little more practice.. <_<

EagerFox - April 11, 2007 04:54 AM (GMT)
Just so everyone knows, I'm a furry now. Bring to me a bitch in heat!

Oh, Shi-!

I had no idea was furry day! I better get prepared.

Seriously, I was working on a background for Makenshi, but I think I can get away with working on a furry Avie.

LOL

Kamiokande - April 11, 2007 05:09 AM (GMT)
Ever since Anime Punch, Mike has said nice things about furries, been caught downloading gay furry pride propaganda, asked the AP staffers to change their forum avatars to furry pictures, dated a furry, and changed his forum name to EagerFox. OMG the water WAS spiked!!1

Tsugaru - April 11, 2007 05:12 AM (GMT)
LOL. XD;;;

So it was, was it?!

Too bad I didn't get to consume any of that wonderful water.

Kamiokande - April 11, 2007 05:57 AM (GMT)
Okay, Tsugaru gets it now. This thread is finished.

EagerFox - April 11, 2007 06:00 AM (GMT)
This all started when my mom was raped by a fox.

Only now do I have the courage to realize that I was that fox!

Centaura - April 11, 2007 06:31 AM (GMT)
What the hell...

So it's that day, then?

Time to change my icon. >.> I'm just tacking some ears to an existing drawing, I am FAR too lazy for anything else, and no manner of spiked water/air/spritual energy will make me otherwise.

Leonidas anthro = hilarity. Except that Leonidas is FAR too cool for that shit. And he looks way hotter greased up than in fur, doncha know?

On the sarcasm topic: You're getting it! Detecting it in your friends becomes easier the longer you know them and the more sarcastic you are. But you don't wanna be paranoid and expect EVERYTHING to be sarcastic, or else your friends will hate you.

Kitsula - April 12, 2007 01:14 AM (GMT)
Damn the LOL Furries fail to deliver...

Damn, and I was hoping we'd get some cool pr0n. :P

Back to the usual shenanigans then.

Tsugaru - April 12, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
As Kamio said, I'm starting to get it, thread over?

Or shall I request that this topic turns into the discussion with Tsugaru thread?! Just kidding (like anyone would like that, anyways)

Keep it up for further sarcastic teachings for others, or lock it, or whatever. Your choice.
