Title: What's the best browser?
DKong - April 7, 2007 11:16 PM (GMT)
Just wondering what other people think. Feel free to post what you think.
I've been using Firefox for around a year and I think it's a lot better than IE.

I love Firefox it pwns IE

I voted for IE7. Partly just to piss people off.
"ZOMG WHY AREN'TS j00 USING FIERFOX IT ISH T3H 1337!?/1?!?!/"
Because IE works fine, and Firefox liked to hog space on my comp when it was running. I don't really care which is "best". It works, I use it.

Meh it doesn't much matter to me I switch from using IE6, Firefox, and the AOL browser in some random fashion.

Never used firefox before.

People who worship firefox do sort of need to get their heads out of their asses.
So long as it's not Safari (which can't seem to display anything right) they are all about the same to me. I tend to use IE6 though, because firefox has they annoying habbit of not loading pages until you accept or deny all their security bullshit, which is completely unnecessary. You don't need to set a cookie to oad the page, you can do that at anytime... annoying ass fuckers.
IE also has really great embedded FTP support.

Only problem is that it grabs your memory and scampers off to hide it up in a tree or something...

XD security mine never asks me things like that

You should be able to have a secure browser and still retain functionality, and as it stands it sort of feels like an either or type situation.
I've been on a Mac since the con though, and am using firefox exclusively, for the time being, for the record.
Just so people also don't start claiming I don't know my stuff, I've been using firefox along side IE for nearly a year now. Basically if I want to do something that will use a lot of tabs (like research or 4chan) I'll use firefox, and if I want to do some surfing or focused stuff I'll use IE.
I'm holding off on upgrading to IE 7 until I'm sure there aren't any major glitches or flaws. I never upgrade anything right away. My parents and brother both use IE7 though, and so far I don't haven't run into any serious issues with it. I may just flat out never upgrade though because windows are pretty useful, and tabs aren't quite as useful. I mostly use my keyboard to do things, so if I were more mouse oriented, or more focused on single tasks I might like tabs more, but since I tend to jump back and forth between a lot of tasks, using alt+tab is a lot easier than figuring out which sub-window I want.
Drifter - April 9, 2007 05:34 AM (GMT)
I prefer firefox. Tabs, that's it. I open up my bookmarks, and tab some 30 sites, and rapidly go through them. Get caught up on comics, DA, Forums, all that at once.
Then I spend the rest of the day doing nothing online except re-checking those places. XD I'm a bum.
I've never really gotten any security questions from firefox. EVen if I did, I prefer tabs over windows, because I can keep checking some 7 or so sites without needing to have 7 windows clutering my start bar (I prefer seperate bars for each, I hate grouping).
Just me though. I'm not exactly the shining example of the norm.

One issue that I have with IE on my laptop is that it just flat out doesn't display pages right. For some stupid reason, it enlarges all pictures on a site, making them pixellated and crappy looking.
I'm pretty sure that's just an issue with IE and my laptop (though it's just a dell with XP, it's not like it's some mac or something out there). Either way, though, FF displays pages nice and crisp, thus +1 for FF in my book.
As for the popup security chickenshit, I only got that when I tried to check my grades on my school's site...but then I went into options and set that as a site to exclude from the certificate check, and now I don't get any messages.

I don't care, like others I just enjoy tabs, and easy accessibility.
On my own personal computer I have Lolifox because it's cute. o.o

And that's exactly why I'm still using Lolifox. Cute. And perhaps improved FTP functionality, but I don't really use that much so yeah. Really just the cute.
Vincent - April 17, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
I tried downloading lolifox, but it gets to like 12% then gives me an error and crashes. Do I need to already have firefox before I download it?
rpb3000 - April 17, 2007 05:30 AM (GMT)
No, it's a stand-alone rebuild of Firefox, with some changes to the preset prefs, some different preset bookmarks, some extensions preinstalled, and some feature improvements.
I have no idea why it would stall at 12% each time. *shrug*
