Title: What did you buy in AA this year?

kalajessta - April 5, 2007 05:34 PM (GMT)
Just trying to gather some post-con ideas for what I need to have more of or to make for future cons, but what did you buy in the Artist Alley at Anime Punch '07? Did you think prices were fair on the items you've bought? Any specific suggestions to certain artist that were there? Did you like how the Artist Alley was set up? Any other questions, concerns, etc. will be helpful too for any artist that was present.

At first I was wary of the table we had in the gaming hall, but it turned out pretty nice. It was a fun place to be, especially being right next to the snack bar, and there was a lot of thru traffic, so we met a lot of cool people. Except that they kept playing the same playlist, which got old after the first 24 hours. I didn't sell much at all, though the one commission I did get seemed to be received very well, which was nice.

Usually, I buy a ton of art at any con, but this year I was so wrapped up in my own table that I didn't get much at all. What I did get was mostly free stuff from my friend Aki/Shy and her group, at the table next to us. I also bought a hot Axel/Demyx lineart I had the pleasure of watching being sketched, also from that table, and procured a gorgeous piece by Erithe, who gave my friend a load of prints in exchange for a Chinese meditation flute. I left with a total of four prints and one sticker, much less than usual.

I wish I'd done more browsing and less commiserating with my friends about not selling shit, lmao.

4 pairs of earrings.

I wanted a wallet, but I wanted to give her holos to use, and didn't have the cards. ^^;

Ah, I need to find if she has an e-mail or website!

Actually, that was Kawaii Ink (my table).

I agree on the crowded part. It was really hard to manuver in and out and in between AA.

The layout would've been a bit looser if the hotel had had more six-foot tables, as opposed to the eight-foot tables most of the Alley participants had. There were only eight six-footers in total, six of them were used in the Gamin hallway, leaving two six-footers and five eight-footers in the Video hallway.

The layout itself was shuffled around a bit due to complications with the hotel's fire code. Down the Video hallway, two tables had to be moved to the enclove at the end of the hallway so that the double doors leading to the hotel rooms would be able to open and close freely.

Next year, whichever hotel we're in, I'll do my best to make sure the tables are more comfortably spaced, along with remembering to get chairs set aside for them as well. ^_^; But I thank all the artists for their patience, especially the first few people who arrived when I was still out running errands on Friday afternoon. You guys rocked!

If anyone wants my bidness there better be yaoi arts. I buy them up real good.

Centaura - April 6, 2007 04:11 PM (GMT)
It was crowded, but we got used to it. XD EXCEPT for when the conga line went through. THAT was REALLY ANNOYING. I started waving around bamboo while my friend started screaming something about fire hazards (which provoked the wrath of a child pyromaniac).

kalajessta: What was Kawaii Ink, now? Which part of my post did that refer to? I am lost and confused. o.O

I was referring to where you mentioned the first table in the gaming hallway. That was my studio's table. ^^;;

Centaura - April 6, 2007 05:11 PM (GMT)
The first table? I meant the ones by the snack bar. The first one by the snack bar was Aki, Am, Souls, and all them, then it was us. You were the first by the lobby?

Or were you in the Aki's group?

I'M DUM

Nah, that wasn't us. I thought you said something about being across from Con-Ops, which was kind of nice for us. Gomen ^^;

Centaura - April 6, 2007 07:18 PM (GMT)
Well, we were all technically across from con-ops. XD I just know I was between two tables of awesome art, and we were passed by a lot in favor of the others.

It was a hallway full of excitement, that's for sure.

You'd know us. We had a tall, pretty gothy boy, a bunch of bamboo flutes, a girl with a ton of face-metal and body-ink, and a very loud, very obnoxious skinny guy. XDDD
