Most likely it will either be consol or step mania, but if we can cheaply find a machine we will totally jump on that!

Would you prefer a consol version of DDR, or would you prefer Step Mania?

I personally lean towards step mania because you can do new songs, but at the same time the tend to be poorly timed and not very well thought out.

Also, maybe all tournaments should be on a consol.

I'd prefer stepmania because there are so many songs and stuff.
But I usually never have time/get a chance to play DDR at cons x_x

i actually have never played stepmania. but i do play console ddr alot lately. I dont know....

i own ddr for x box but i total stinck..........ill try though.

I'm actually pretty good at DDR when I play it alone or with a friend. But as soon as a bunch of people show up... -trip, fall, sob-

At Collossalcon there was a person selling handmade buttons that said "I suck at DDR" and showed edward elric trying to dance on the pad. We should give those out as conciliatory prizes to people that totally embarass themselves, like me no doubt.

No.People don't laugh in arcades.When i have friends over they laugh when I play on the floor mats because it's harder to do that way.When i move into a bigger house my mom promised she'd get me dance dance revoultion extreme (the arcade version).

Soft foam-backed pads are much more convenient to dance on compared to an arcade's metal pads. They're more responsive, just with the slight slippage issue, which is minor most of the time. Stepmania also allows for a massive song library, including tons of anime and videogame songs besides the normal DDR songs, more song options, and all sorts of happy fun stuff.

I like the metal mats better.Its because its eaiser when your wearing shoes and you can somehow break a foam pad if your wearing them.I played 8 games(4 levels each) of ddr extreme.I played songs that were like 180 and up.The fastest one I did was 256!

I beat max 300 once
...though it was on easy.

yeah...I play on light mode maybe standard sometimes.

I love DDR/Stepmania...but I suck at it so much. One thing I noticed is that a lot of songs for SM are impossible to pad. We'd have to go over the list to vet out the ones that are actually possible.

if your going to use consoles PLEASE!!!!! get a modded PS2 so it can play imports cause the american versions on PS2 suck ass! and if your using an XBOX (those mat are so cool :) ) it is okay to use ultrmix 1 and 2 they are both nice. but for some reason the american version of ddr extreme is nothing like the arcade version and the japanese ddr extreme is exactly like the arcade one.

I think last year we had a PC with stepmania, and a Japanese PSII playing something cool, I can't remember which one though.

We should totally have Dance Dance Revoultion Extreme!I was at a arcade on sunday ((gameworks at eastson!)) and I played 8 games that each had 4 stages!My legs were getting ready to fall off.I did pretty good.I beat my sister,but she is so easy to beat at ddr.She's got two left feet when it comes to those combo arrows! :lol:

i've watched, but never played step mania. xD I FEEL SO LEFT OUT. i'm decent, i think. standard. I'M TOO FAT FOR DDR. i'm also too fat for white chocolate kitkats, but i'm still in love with them.

that's exactly what i do. xD i have le home version. max, max2, extreme, 1st mix. my ferrets tore up my mats though. :[ need new ones. i prefer arcade 'cause you won't slip and fall on your arse though. FIRE ESCAPE!

With home mats I tend to get off the pad pretty easily, and occassionally restart the game by accident. I like the arcade ones because I never miss an arrow, though I still have horrible ballance. It's pretty funny because I'll have like a 200 combo and then I'll fly off the pad for what seems like little reason and with far too much momentum to make sense!

So are you getting the ddr extreme machine?
