I had an idea - how about an "Indy Comic Exhibition" (or some other name)?
People with self-published comics (whether on the web or on paper) could sign up for a 5-minute slot in which they could show the audience what their comic looked like and give a short spiel on what it's about. There'd also be a handout with blurbs about the comics discussed so people don't have to take notes. This wouldn't be a contest or anything. No voting, no judging, just a chance for people to show off what they're doing and see what others are doing. We just want to encourage and promote people's creativity. Even if what people show off turns out to be embarrassingly bad, people learn from these sort of projects, and sometimes there are flashes of brilliance/authenticity in amateurish works that one wouldn't necessarily see in more professional or competent work.
We might charge some nominal fee to cover program printing, or just require the exhibitors to be "premium" registants.
