well on the subject of the swimsuit cosplays, i had read somewhere else someone belives so and so should have won and that video game cosplays couldnt have a chance. Look Im really sorry you didn't win anything guys. I was happy to win something since i'd never won anything before. But there were many great swimsuits, i really loved the RE groups. I just hope this dosnt keep you guys from trying again next year. I hope to see you all in the contest again and many others next year!

Well, I was judge and the RE swimcosplayers didn't stand out. It should be noted that since less people do swim cosplays we don't bother differentiating different types of cosplay.

Sailor Moon went all out on the details, Maya was true to life, and Tobi was just fucking awesome. The RE group was neat I guess, but just wasn't as cool as the others.

Every year we have to go through this jazz, cosplayers pissed because they didn't win. You can't all be winners, quit your bitching and grow up!

Oh, and to allegations that only our friends win... One of our judges has almost no ties to fandom and outside of these forums basically has no fan presence (and probably couldn't name more than 2 big name fans), and the others are from Kentucky. We essentially have strangers judge our cosplay, so there is literally no chance for favoritism!

First off, Missallsunday I'm glad to hear that you liked our group! We had some much fun doing comming up with the designs so it's always nice to hear that someone thought we did a good job. :D


Now Kaisermikeb, where on earth are you coming from?? Nobody in this thread was "bitching" as you put over who one and who didn't. Just because you read that someone 'heard' things doesn't mean you should take it to heart and get after all of us for it. That kind of attitude is really dissapointing, especially when it comes from someone who actually worked for the con, (ie staffed, judged, any of it.) And what is with the allegations part?? The first con I went to had issues with that, but as far as I know that isn't an issue associated with Anime Punch, so why bring it up?? :huh:

As for the costumes I thought everyone did a great job. I didn't recognize Maya, but I heard from some many people how good her costume was, and even though I don't watch Naruto the Tobi costume was one of my favorites. And I'll be the first to admitt that Sailor Moon is by far my favorite anime, as it was the first one that I ever watched, but I was kinda dissapointed. It was a cute and very pretty costume and truely looked like one Usagi would wear, but I was sadden by it because I can think of at least two swimsuits Usagi actually wears in the series or even better would have been if she had designed one based off of one of the Sailor outfits. I really think that cosplayer could come up with a great looking Sailor suit.

So I'm sorry to say I took offense to a lot of what you said. I was the Jill in the RE group to hear that you think that my group didn't stand doesn't flow well with me. I'm guessing you've never played RE, but for the most part all of the costumes were dead on, (save for Ada who had to take the "this is what the character would wear" and even then it was pretty close.) You really can't say we didn't stand out, and I know in particular that I did because people who didn't recognize me cheered me on probably for the one fact that I include scuba gear because for me that really suited the character.

The RE group joined the contest for fun, and we really didn't think we were going to win a prize anyway. I don't join in the costume contests because I want a prize, I join them because they're fun and I get to meet other cosplayers who are there for that same reason, and showing this kind of poor attitude after said contest really ruins the appeal of it and gives the convention a bad image.

you didnt see me? i was right next you guys, with the white hair and antenie(sp?) it ws very close to the actually outfit of mayas tho so i understood when i got 'most accurate'

but anyways its always up to the judge who they think deserves the prize so to some ppl others might stand out more then the others. so i belive that it just depends on the judge and who they think deserves it.

to the allegations made i herd about that and thought it was very untrue. i told someone that alot of the times i've seen friends of judges win but thats simply bc their costumes were better then the others. Other times i've seen plenty of judges friends lose bc they just werent good enough. it dosnt matter if ur the friend of the judge or not its ur craftmenship and alot of the time how you present yourself in the costume.

Oh man I didn't realize that was you! XD I liked the costume. As for the allegations, I really have only heard about one convention having that issue, but I think they've long since fixed it and even if it's an issue at any convention I go to I'm not joining the contest to win anyway. It's just fun being on stage. (or not as was the case of my flippers preventing me XP)

XD Thanks. They were so much fun, but they were really hard to walk in. Everytime my group went somewhere they'd have to stop and come back to find me because I was moving so slowly.

They should have jsut done it anyways. They looked exactly like the show. The dude that acctually grew is goatee like that is a god. thats so badass.

I really loved the flipper concept.. that was pure genius. **KUDOS** as to swimming with them... haha I'm not a good swimmer so thats a no good on my part as well. but hey you had the guts to do it and it was awesome.

maybe we can get it goin again next year or something. if your ride is lame again you could just kill them and then you can leave whenver you want :D :domo:

I didn't enter this year and I don't intend to next year. xP Two reasons.
One: It'd be scary to see.
Two: Vincent can't swim.

I would love to join in the fun next year, but, lesson learned, I look REALLY bad in a swimming suit.
