Title: DDR Guy Says Thank You-
Description: Con-goers double-take in amazement

Makenshi - April 2, 2007 07:45 PM (GMT)
Hello, folks. :D

If you remember me, I'm the loud, obnoxious, boorish guy that was (for lack of a better term) running the DDR room. I did the same at Ohayo '07, and I'd like to go ahead and thank you all for your patronage.

VERY special thanks to Lothlin, Robbie, Nathan, Will, Pete, Dennis, Liz T., Liz (again), Liz's friend (sorry I didn't get your name), Tsu, Steve, Susan, and Ross for helping me in one capacity or another (be it actual work, or just allowing me enough entertainment to actually survive. =D)

Thank you to Wyatt and Der Kaiser for giving me such a responsibility with the good faith that I wouldn't use said power to destroy the Russian space station and all cosmonauts onboard.

If you have feedback, or just want to say hello, feel more than free to do so.

Now, only three hundred and sixy-some days 'til AP '08. ;)

..;____;

I soo woulda helped more if there was a way I could. :(

And definatally on Sunday. My dad is sooooo mean. v___v

I love everyone in that room so dearly. It's nice to have people greet me so kindly, and having a room yelling "FOOTBALL" in unison.. Having people to sing DDR songs with me... but no one Para'd to "Can't Stop Fallin' in Love" (Super Euro Version) on SN with me.. =<

And no thanks, no pizza for me...

But you guys are so awesome!!

Much lovies <3

Lothlin - April 2, 2007 07:53 PM (GMT)
Seriously, Dave, you deserve so many props for staying up and doing it and getting shit done. I hope you got some sleep once you made it home. <3333

(I so can't wait until next year XD)

I did, thank the gods.

And now, here I am at work, ready for another day like last weekend never happened.

-Sigh.-

Glad to see you got home okay, though. <3

Tsu: Next year. Promise. =D

Lothlin - April 2, 2007 07:55 PM (GMT)
I was totally speeding all the way home, but seriously, I was the only one on the road XD. I got back in record time, and them promply passed out in bed.

Tsugaru - April 2, 2007 07:57 PM (GMT)
Year... Yeah, haha, ask my dad about that. >.>;; (Sorry, this isn't the first time my dad has pissed me off this much)

I enjoy you people too much.. er.. depending on how relectant people are on driving, we should have a music gaming meeting. We have a arcade around here with 2 EX arcades, one ITG2, DM/GF, and beatmania 5th mix (5 key).. =o

I'm up for that.

Of course, I can't drive yet. XD

Loth: Yeah, I was worried about ya. What's funnier, though, is that I had to drive home with Will, who had just about zero sleep over the course of the con (Thursday included). I was scared to death. XD

Makenshi-kun.. :o

You have my memory card. DX

Demi thinks I left it up there on purpose so you could visit me. lol

See, having 2 DDR sets in one room can work out! (I recall someone on the Ohayo forums saying that it was a ridiculous suggestion when I mentioned it)

Loved the room, good job!

Oddly enough, that was me.

Man, this is about as cosmic-man-tree-thing as it gets.

blue_hat - April 3, 2007 03:04 AM (GMT)
Makenshi. You are hardcore, good sir.

AngelicRogue - April 4, 2007 12:39 AM (GMT)
Hooray for the DDR room! And hooray for Dave! Seriously though, you did an awesome job running the place. About an hour or so after the tournament was over, you were like dead on the floor in the corner until clean up. I commend you for your staying up the entire time dealing with caffeine induced spastic DDR'ers during the con. Muchos luff for that ^^

Tsugaru - April 4, 2007 12:42 AM (GMT)
Next time, I will make sure I can stay longer.. um.. if you guys do need help next year, I am willing. ^^

Edit: The hard part for this will be getting the OK for the whole weekend. Hopefully I can stay... I will try my hardest!!

I'm definitely willing to help out with it next year as well! Now I just need to get the OK from meh parents to let me go xD But I'm pretty sure I'll be there.

Kuroshi - April 4, 2007 02:37 AM (GMT)
*reads that arcade description*

That's that skatepark in Dayton, isnt it? I was there once, it is awesome.

melink14 - April 4, 2007 06:07 AM (GMT)
I unlocked at least the first showcase of both nitros and the last but no props at all eh? that's cool, I would have done more but really, it's hard to monopolize the game like that. ;)

I've said this other places, but I'll say it here as well.

industry specific prizes.

a qualifier for single elim tournaments. Always. it's probably more important if it's small. I mean, I was eliminating people clearly out of order. It kinda sucks if some kid maybe in the top 4 or 5 people in the room looses in the first round because they have the unfortunate luck of a random seeding against the eventual winner.

I'm thinking in retrospect that the idea of going to the last wasn't all that beneficial in the long run. Having more tens to play was great but at the cost of every other song? seems dubious. It also seemed to give me an unfair advantage.

More water. The water ran out a lot.

The staff was pretty amazing over all though, long hours and happy dispositions.

Thanks.

I happened to think your medal was pretty cute. But I guess prizes can't hurt.

Aye, I think my first round was the only time anyone needed to play a third song. Not as much fun to watch as it would be otherwise. And since we ended early (and started a bit later than scheduled), I think there would've been time to stick a qualifier in.

But wow, Dave, you seemed to have been in the room every time I went in there (assuming I'm getting your name and face correctly correlated). Amazing, that--props to you.

But the room was awesome. And lines were short. And there were random guys conked out under the tables. And it didn't smell funny. And the people were fun to talk to.

Enjoyed it verily. ^_^

Lothlin - April 4, 2007 02:05 PM (GMT)
Eh, I'll talk with Dave more next year for the sake of qualifiers and we'll figure it out. And maybe I'll see if we can get it scheduled on a diffent so people can actually make it.

Agreed about the Last bit. If you two had wanted to, it wouldn't have been hard to change it back, but yeah. Probably won't do that next year XD

Tsugaru - April 4, 2007 07:18 PM (GMT)
Yes, Kuroshi-san, that arcade is in Dayton. DX

I live there...

Next year will be different, I hope. I can't say anything because as far as I know, I'm not even cleared to run the DDR stuff. Call it a fluke that I ended up where I did.

melink: Well, originally we didn't have ANY prize. I'd thank GJ for that medal, simply because they reek of awesome out of every pore. As far as setup goes, DDR kind of took a backseat to everything this year, which was understandable to me.
