Title: Your opinion on Armageddicon 07'

shaowebb - April 2, 2007 02:03 PM (GMT)
I just got back from the convention in Colombus and I have to say it was overall a decent con with potential to go far. So lets all give our opinions on what rocked and what could have been improved.

Special Guests:5 out of 5
This con had an incredible line up of talented individuals performing and signing at it. The Protomen were insanely entertaining performers, The Spoony Bards could play nearly anything you suggested and did for the entire length of the con. Thats really no small feat here to play music from 9am to past midnight for several days. The Voice Actors were very friendly and entertaining during the signings and throughout there stay during Armageddicon.
Mad props to the Armageddicon booking staff.

Vendors:4 out of 5
There was an excellent group of vendors dealing in the dealers room this year and the range of products served pretty much anything you couldve been into. Import games, wallets, clothing, wigs, props, manga, dvd's, vhs, figures , decals. The list goes on. Only thing was the room got crowded quickly and stayed that way so a few points lost here. A couple of the tables had a lot of free room behind them to be scooted to while still leaving the vendors room to locate and pull out additional merchandise so Ill give the dealers room a 4 out of 5 for excellent variety but it could have utilized the space a little better to allow con goers to shop more comfortably. Not too bad.

Game Rooms: 5 out of 5
Great variety here of games for any generation of console. They ranged from atari all the way up to the new gen of games. Gamer comfort level was clearly taken into consideration as well with how DDR was seperated away from most of the gaming to allow gamers to get loud and crazy without interfering with anyone elses fun. Lots to do back there and I have to say it was quite well planned and executed. Keep up the good work here.

Panels/Video rooms: 5 out of 5
Main thing here is variety and execution and I have to say that it these had plenty of each. Lots to watch and lots to see. From vampires to game designing it showed up. Nice selection people good job!

Organization: 1 out of 5
This is really the only thing that went wrong. Somewhere along the way there apparently were a few breakdowns in communication with staff and tech. It was really hard to watch that poor girl on skit #2 sit there forever with the staff stalling for time until tech could find out what happened to her files on the system due to a miscommunication on how skits were to be labeled.
Also the floor had a tremendous amount of noise pollution. This occured when the DJ's booth was set up on the main floor directly across from The Spoony Bards. The result of this was two people playing with neither being able to be enjoyed. It also forced so much volume across the floor that con goers had to yell a lot which meant mingling didnt occur between guests as easily as needed. Most folks seem to have to mingle at a distance from the entertainment just to be heard. A solution for this would be next year to simply locate the DJ outside the game room where they were playing techno anyhow on a cd player. In these tight quarters the DJ wouldnt even need to max out his speakers to be enjoyed here and a live DJ while gaming wouldve felt sweet.
Also punctuality of events. A lot went off schedule. A lot of the events listed online were scheduled differently when at the con or not listed on there events booklet. This couldve messed with some people who could only attend a day or two who had to decide what days they wanted to be there the most. The protomen were delayed by 40 minutes. The cosplay competition got delayed by tech. It goes on but those were the worst. I think this is really due to set up times required and breakdown of communication so better organization of events could help this. Also estimating times for events. Random battle group is really what im talking about here. Most con goers will spend there time in and out of this room all day if its open yet it was alotted an hour or two at best. At another convention I was at RBG ran all three days begin to end of the con breaking only for major events like cosplay, dealers room opening hours, concerts and autograph sessions. It served as a way to have fun when youve already shopped and gamed and were just needing to kill time for events. When it shut down the room was still full with a line still waiting to play. This really shows that RBG should be given there own room in the future as I have seen done at other cons. They just give people a reason to stay longer which is a reason theyll come back again. Also its just sad that they pay for everything out of there own pockets to put on shows to entertain us and they get cut after a few hours. Thats not even time enough for the fans to try to tip them as support for them. Really bad here so please keep organization and time alotment to guests in priority for next year.

Overall: 3 out of 5
Generally this con can become an incredible event with everything that was lined up to be at it but due to organization undercutting a lot of these things it comes off about middle of the pack. A little more communication and organization will make this con explode. Keep it up Armageddicon and keep working!

Drifter - April 2, 2007 07:23 PM (GMT)
I'll make mine much simpler then yours. XD

Special Guests: 5 out of 5
Proto. Men. That's all I have to say. Anyone who was there knows. The Bards were also particularly pwnsome. I got to request Dr. Wily's Skull Castle from MegaMan 2, and they played it. Kick. Ass.

Vendors: 3 out of 5
Maybe it was just me, but the selection was particularly...small? Or did I miss a couple more rooms or something? I would of liked to see more, and more to get. Maybe it's just my tastes though. I found no games worth getting that justify enough interest to buy. I only got a badge, one of those hats (for someone else) some little things here and there, and some pocky. That's all I could find to not dislike. So it's just my oppinion I'm sure.

Game rooms: 5 out of 5.
Yes, I played int he game rooms. I LOVED the retro room. THANK YOU for bringing back what little memories of years past I can recall. I didn't spend too much time, but I DID get to pwnith some newbies at Smash. If you can't recall, maybe you'll remember "I'M ALITTLE PRINCESSSS", for the few I got to play with. XD

Panels/Video Rooms: N/A
I spent surprisingly little time here, so I cannot justify a score for it.

Org.: 2 out of 5
I have to somewhat agree with the above post. I didn't see the cosplay skits, but I did get to experience the 45 minute wait to get into the concert of Proto. As well I did see that one DJ there blaring music across from the bards, which I just kind of... laughed at. XD The only other problem I had was YOU BUMS SHUT DOWN THE HOLE. THE HOLE VERSION 2.0 WILL WREAK HAVOC UPON ARMAGEDDICON 3! MARK MY WORDDDSESSESBDJSAGbjfdshaf

OverAll: 4/5
Two crappy scores, a MISSING score, and still that average? That's simply because of whatever downfalls I saw, I enjoyed myself beyond words. I just hope next year there is more, and better. If you guys polish it, you'll have a con that'll last a long time.

Kai - April 2, 2007 07:31 PM (GMT)
- Destruction of The Hole will make it that much sweeter to see next year :domo: !

- Dealers rooms are always hard to move in, but the back right corner (where most plushies were) was just insane. I ended up walking in, seeing that blockade, spinning on my heel and going back out a few times. Seemed there was an overabundance of the same keychains, and I felt sorry for the artists tables by the game rooms. How those brave sould didn't suffocate from the tight space saturday night was beyond me

unseengbh - April 2, 2007 07:35 PM (GMT)
This was my first convention and I loved it. The bands were really sweet, the diverse choice in panels to go to was neat, the vendors were ok, and the fun atmosphere was just awesome. There were only like 2 people that got a bit on my nerves and I think they were non-otaku. Everyone else was really cool. The nonstop partying, the con suite, and people sleeping under tables and on couches at random hours was hilarious and kick ass. I loved the cosplay and Pokemom RPG. My only complaints would be there not being enough food ( haha fatass) and the Rave music just sounded like the same song being played for hours. But the staff, people, and events all ruled.

Celeste_Orchid - April 3, 2007 01:57 AM (GMT)
This was my first year in attending Anime Punch but I'll give in my two cents ((:2cents: )) even if they don't mean anything. I'll be judging you like they do on X-play aka a five scale rating system.

Guests: I loved them all, it was great so I'll give you 5 out of 5.

Vendors: I'm glad we had vendors and such. So like yea. I wish we had more food type things but thats impossible. And I wish we had a vendor that sold only glow sticks. and had TONS OF THEM! 4 out of 5.

Hotel staff: THEY WERE SOO MEAN. Its not really your fault but I just want to do this. They get a -10 out of 5.

Games: I loved the game rooms! The only thing that I got upset with was the tournaments.. I wanted to participate soooooo bad in the Soul Calibur tournament. Just a suggestion, if all else fails put a Tekken tournament! XD The rooms were a bit small. I'll give it a 3 out of 5.

Panels: I didn't really get to attend panels but I'll rate fair... I'll just say 5 out of 5.

Cosplay: Everything summed up in this one little area... I like how fast the judging went.. how people registered then went to a different room.. that was genius. The actual event, that had its problems but what con doesn't? But for what its worth it worked out for the best. I liked how people couldn't win two awards. That is great.. it gives people a fair chance and such. My overall thoughts and rating for Cosplay is 5 out of 5. Come on you had the twins and L judge.. who else better to do that then them!

Rave: It maybe just wasn't my style.. but just all techno killed me... so I'll give it a 2 out of 5.

Karaoke: 1 out of 5.. what happened!? Seriously.. I didn't know what went where and how to sign up.. that just bombed...

Overall con score:I'll give it a 4 out of 5. It was still enjoyable fun and everything. I expect more fun next year!

Booklet: 5 of 5.
Kicked ass. Had detailed info on everything, great map, had the schedule, had panel lists.
And yes, this is worth listing, as anyone who went to Ohayocon '07 knows, a shitty booklet can make for one confused con-goer!

Video Game: 5 of 5.
Thank you for having two DDR set ups! That's always much needed. Retro game room kicked ass. It was all sweet. One complaint was lack of metal pads, but that's up to the con goers.
Also, thanks for having SSB on N64!

Video rooms: cool stuff, but I didn't get too see a whole lot.

Bards: 5 of 5. Get them for next year please!

Bukkake Tsunami - April 3, 2007 03:37 AM (GMT)
I thought this con was really good for being so small. It reminded me a lot of the second year of Tekkoshocon, where everything was set up in and around the main lobby of a hotel and brought back good memories.

Special Guests: 3/5 You had some awesome people like Gendo's V.A. and Crispin Freeman, but those were really the only two that stood out for me. I would have liked maybe more V.A.s or an anime company. Spoony Bards sounded better than ever.

Vendors: 2/5 Like everyone else said it was kind of cramped, but that's not why it gets the sort of low score. Most dealer's rooms are crammed and there's not a lot you can do about it. It only gets a 3 because there was only one option for anime and manga. They didn't carry any of the anime I wanted to buy, and only had two things I needed manga-wise. There were plenty of random knick-knack, toy, and t-shirt vendors but shouldn't anime be the most important thing at a con? How could an anime dealers room have no copies of Utena? I think the dealers room should always be an option for something to do during con downtime. But after I browsed the entire room once I didn't feel any incentive to come back.

Hotel Staff: 5/5 I only talked to one employee of the hotel. He was standing by the entrance and politely told us where to find the registration line.

Games: 4/5 It looked like there was a lot of stuff to do but I didn't really have a chance to play anything. Guitar Hero seemed to be permanently out of commission every time I wandered over. The snack bar was pretty cool.

Panels: 4/5 A couple were a little off, but there certainly was a lot of variety. The Hentai A Go Go panel was awesome as ever, and the Dirty Fanfiction panel was easily my favorite. I'm also now really interested in the Superflat style of art, and I had a lot of fun playing the hentai dating sim with a room full of nerds. However... I came to this convention mainly because of the Hentai Olympics, which did not happen. ;_;

Rave: 3/5 Far too much techno, but the anime clips playing on the screens were cool. I really wanted to hear more anime-themed music. Like Supershooter (the opening from Gantz) or the techno remix of the Eva opening. The rave gets extra points for having water and not being too smelly.

Organization: 1/5 Seriously, a lot of fun got sucked out of this convention because of scheduling issues. The Hentai Olympics got pushed back an hour for something that I wasn't really interested in (and then was cancelled because of spilled jizz. XD). Really, I decided to come to this convention for two reasons: it was cheap as hell and there was a panel called "Hentai Olympics". It was a dissappointing night. The viewing rooms were all out of wack. I was watching this interesting, really well-animated show called Black Lagoon in one room but then the staff stopped it and put in Dancougar instead (a generic older mech show with a mech that has a sort of cat head). This was apparently because Video Room 1 (where Dancougar was showing) had been accidentally shut down and they needed to convert Black Lagoon's room to Video 1. I don't think they moved Black Lagoon to another room, either. Other events/viewings were delayed and cancelled as well, which was annoying.

Booklet: 6/5 DKong said it best.

Atmosphere: 5/5 The Spoony Bards did amazing covers the whole time, the panels were fun (and mostly without long lines), there was a FANTASTIC con suite with free food, drink and a man who made me sushi, Pedobear was roaming the halls, and best of all it was mostly people my age (college or older) who were inebriated throughout the convention.

Overall Experience: 4/5 I really like small cozy conventions like this one. It had its problems but I still had a lot of fun.

Pannels 5/5
I enjoyed the 4chan Iron Editor contest although it would of been more fun if we had more than one round, ends up we all had a collective gaming and made fun of horrible subbing in some H-games. "My crotch is on the rise!"

Organization 2/5
The convention happened but it could of been much smoother, we ran into some problems with the pre-reg and I think if we had more time to set up and get ready at the hotel for the con that it would of ran MUCH smoother

Game Rooms 5/5
They were awesome, there were alot of games there that i'd had never played before, especially Wyatt's robot x-box game with the sweet controlls, I was happy that there was good competiton for the games, although i was supprised when i was playing ssbm and i picked Bowser and everyone's like "you're actually gonna play as him?" and i won XD

Vendors 4.5/5
We could of had more venders with more different things to sell and a bigger vender room so it wouldnt be as crowded, but what i found was pretty awesome

Rave 3/5
It was ok, could of had more diverse music (other than generic techno, like some anime techno mixes, but the light effects and the live guitar were a nice touch

Bands 7/5
The Spoony bards were awesome, live video game and anime music ftw! It reminded me alot of Mario & Zelda live (The Big Band of Rogues & the Arita Band) I'd had never heard the Protomen before this and didnt know that they were a Megaman reference, but their music is like an orgasm in your ears!

Hotel Management 1/5
The management's paranoia was very bothersome, they heard a rumor that there would be drugs at the rave, they probably derived that from hearing that there was going to be a rave, but we added extra security to make sure nothing happened and to please the management. They got so worked up about their presious carpet getting ruined and canceled the hentai olympics because some corn starch / water combination that was going to be used for the slip-n-slide

Overall 4/5
It went well, could of been smoother, it'd be nicer at a larger place with less restrictions but you take what you get. It was an honor to staff for the con and I hope to see everyone (and their hot cousins as kaiser mike said) again next year!
SIEG ZEON!

The Guest 5/5
They rocked. All the ones I saw kicked ass. The Protomen of course who we should have captured so they can permenately protect Ohio from Dr. Wiley and his robotic minions. Tristan MacAvery was awesome ie. "Rei kill it." Crispan Freeman was and I know how gay this makes me sound but the man is dreamy. Harlan Watkins from Archaic Jump kicked ass and I have been spreading the word about the sweet stuff we can expect from AJ. Lawrence Eng was cool because he gave out free stuff. He was cool for other reasons but they are overshadowed by FREE STUFF. I didn't see much of the other guest but I caught a few of them here and there and can't say anything negative. I was pretty busy so I didn't make much time just to chill and listen to the bards but what I did hear of them was awesome.

Panels 4/5
Most were awesome due to awesome guest and they were very diverse.

Game Rooms 4/5
I didn't spend much time in them but they were sweet. I got my ass handed to me multiple times on some Naruto Gamecube game.

Dealers Room 4/5
A bit crowded but Hell a store at the mall can get crowded so it was not like it was unexpected. Many dealers had similar stuff but thats just because they were selling stuff they knew was popular and they had probably sold well at previous cons or online. Gamejunkie was awesome but besides some Bawls I didn't buy anything from them so I would not come home with a totally empty wallet.

Rave N/A
Didn't go. I didn't want to sleep in my car again so I went home after seeing the Protomen.

Program Guide 4/5
It should be five out of five due to page 47 and the words in homage to the legendary Roy Focker on the back but meh.

Organization 1.23/5
Lets just blame it all on Mike.

Overall 4/5
It was a good con the amount of things that kicked ass more than made up for things that went wrong.

Would I go again? Yes, and if the Protomen were involve I would upgrade that to HELL YES!

Well. I never really care about the guests, or the panels, or the game rooms. So I'll give my opinion on things I do care about. ^-^

Organization - Everything except for the Cosplay competition was horrible for organization. However, the competition was seriously nicely run, with the exception of the 2nd skit's music being lost.

Dealers Room - Generally good. Cramped, but that's no one's fault.

Artists - AWESOME! I got a lot of good stuff from them and everyone I saw had really quality stuff out there. (And they were all very nice!)

Rave - No real complaints here. Not too many people were dancing at first, which was shitty, but then everyone who was too scared to dance left! and everyone else rocked out.

Really, the good things were the generally nice people we interacted with. The Naruto and Bleach cosplayers were all marvelous and nearly every cosplayer I talked to was really friendly.

However, there were some rather major downfalls: my friends were harassed by a rather drunken pair of Mike's friends (they were Emceeing the Cosplay thing with him) late on Saturday night, and frankly, I wish someone had punched one of them right in the face for the shit he was saying.
Also: even though I wasn't there, the business with the fursuiters at the closing ceremonies. I'm not a furry. I don't really have any good friends who are furries, and frankly, most furries creep the shit out of me, but goddamnit you do NOT threaten people with cattle prods. I don't care who they are or who you think you are, you don't do that.
Also, I am not a goth, nor do I think that the world would be any worse off if all the little gothies dropped dead right now, but apparently the "Goth" badges were changed to "Cutter"? I didn't see this personally, but the 12 year-old goth (MoonlightsCurse) complained of this in a post, and even though I didn't see it, I wouldn't put it past the con to have done this.

All in all, the most fun I had was the Naruto shoot, and performing in the Masquerade. Good consuite too, btw.

Overall - Just because a con is young does not mean it has to be overly cruel, badly organized and generally shitty. Youmacon in Troy, MI, is only 3 years old and it was fantastic!

Granted, it's funny as fuck, but still... If you paid the extra five bucks and waited in the unreasonable pre-reg line, you should get what you paid for.
(Along those lines, I'm still trying to figure out what in the hell a long haired vampire and a tiny redhaired girl have to do with "Unlicensed Surgeon". However, I never wore my badge and no one ever checked for it.)

I hardly waited in any line. I just waited until it was down and sauntered up to the table.

I agree that it was lame to do that when someone paid extra money for it, though.

"Unlicensed Surgeon"? I didn't see that one o.O

The whole ordeal with the badges not even getting there until, what, 6...that was retarded. Smack the guy that did that.

The organization somehow was worse than last year, I dunno how you guys managed that.

In all seriousness, though, I'm going to be shocked if that hotel lets you come back next year. They were flipping shits about everything the entire weekend. We witnessed the awesome power of a drunken, angry boyfriend banging on the door across from us after the guy inside the room knocked over his drunken girlfriend, and somehow the management had something to say about everyone but him? Including us, we got yelled at for having the door open a little bit, even though we were making no noise...

We shut it, though. We got no more complaints after that.

Every single badge type (with the exception of Goth, which was originally going to be changed to "Unicorn", but we forgot to draw an adorable picture) is from an anime. Unlicensed Surgeon is from Blackjack, a classic and extremely awesome anime about a freelance unlicensed surgeon.

As for the hotel, yeah we had a lot of weird shit happen, but no more than a highschool wrestling meet, which has cocky-ass teenagers all over the place, yelling, and getting drunk. At least the bulk of our crowd was high on caffeine, not on pot or alcohol.

SweetMisery - April 6, 2007 01:43 AM (GMT)
I'm terrible at giving ratings, so all I can/will say is this:

If I remember correctly, this is a new hotel for the con? I think I read on the main page that it was at a different hotel than last years. I didn't go to last years, so I can't swear to that, so of course, I chalked up all unfortunate mishaps up to 'new location' and getting used to said new location.

It does sound like one of those 'catch all' things, yes?

Tiny bit of annoyance at the whole premium badge thing. It seems as though everyone and their cousin bought one, therefore negating the whole 'perks' to having a premium badge. Although I did like the whole 'writing your name in japanese' part on the badge, I thought it added a nice touch. The list of images to choose from for the badge though, I think it would have been intresteing if we could have seen what they were going to look like first and then decided. I was a bit wary about my friend having a 'catgirl' image on her badge, as I wasn't sure what it was going to look like, and therefore, I wasn't sure if it was going to be overtly sexual or not. I had originally wanted either the Goth or Goddess option, but was talked out of it for the Yuri part. And now that I've heard of the Goth one being changed to 'cutter', I'm glad that I didn't.

I'm not saying it's too offensive, just not completely thought out, in my opinion.

Tad bit of a problem regarding a room though. Was staying with a friend [I mostly needed a place to crash and shower, I didn't care for any other details in the room] only to be told on Saturday morning that the hotel had overbooked or something to that nature [I don't know all the details, I'm afraid] and therefore we had to change rooms. While not a major annoyance, still annoying.

I thought the hotel was supposed to be only for the convention? I met a good number of people who wasn't there for the convention, and were therefore confused for the reasoning as to why there were people in costumes.

I do plan on coming next year though.

Gaming: 5/5

This years gaming was absolutely fantastic. I enjoyed every minute I spent in the game room, even when Jesus showed up and kicked my ass in one the Naruto game. That was just really funny. Maybe a little more variety next year, but all in all pretty nice. (Retro gaming is muy bueno)

Cosplay: ?

I didn't check out the actual show, but the cosplayers all seemed nice. :)

Con suite: 4/5

I was in there for maybe five minutes to be introduced to the guy running AMV's shortly after finding out mine had been misplaced. Shortly thereafter a girl hugged me and I was introduced to many nice people and offered food. So, yes in my book. Good place.

Dealers room: 4/5

It was kind of cramped and lacked some of the variety I like. However, I ate Karl and that made all well.

Overall: 5/5

Despite some possible downfalls, like when I got sick and missed the rave, it was overall pretty good. Room for improvement but still my favorite con.

Maybe a little more variety next year

I gotta agree with that. While the rhythm games had nice selection (pop'n, ddr, apparently some IIDX, and guitar hero) and the retro room kicked ass, the rest was mainly generic fighters and Naruto games, from what I saw (though I did see crazy taxi ).

Lilith's Dark Shadow - April 6, 2007 05:36 PM (GMT)
you could have come to conops or gamejunkies and asked for something to be switched out since we do happen to have a large variety of stuff in storage. In fact one person actually did this.

10/10 cross the board.

uhm duh! animepunch kicks some huge ass. and yet again, immediatly after this years con, i started planning for next year. heelllzz yea! ^^

Bloodsin - April 7, 2007 06:29 AM (GMT)
Ill make this short and simple. This was by far the WORST con ive ever been to and ive been going to cons for years. The hentai olympics was canceled, the staff was incompetant and disorganized. The whole con i didnt have a badge and no1 checked so therefore i got a free con. The spoony bards are ok in small doses but seriously, you can only play covered material for so long come up with something original and then u will have my respect. On top of that i was told not to go near a certain individual because my costume was scary...no offence but WTF. I left at 3:00 AM on sunday morning which ive never actually done ever. And yes 3:00 AM not PM. There was very little selections of restaurants which meant i had to eat subway and mcdonalds the whole time. RBG was just as irritating as always because lord knows someone comes up with an original idea. But in the end i can say this was my first and last AP so i bid you all adue.

Quit bein a douche. the hentai olympics was the hotels fault. the staff did a fine job where i was. you probally had your badge in an obvious spot so it wasn't hard to see it. the spoony bards were mostly doing requests and jammin. i was very impressed at the HUGE amount of material they had. Are you in a band? Do you even understand how much fuckin effort goes into learning THAT much material? I don't think so. And maybe next year the staff can build a Taco Bell and Pizza hut we have more food options. if ya wanted something other than subway or mcdonalds you could have jsut walked a couple of blocks or even had a pizza delivered. If you hate RBG so much then don't watch it. Duh. :domo:

Kaisermikeb - April 7, 2007 10:04 AM (GMT)
Oh noes! You had a lax staff more focused on making sure people had a good time than on checking my badge, you fuckers! How dare you not enforce payment!!

What the fuck, your hotel is across the street from only TWO 24 hour restaurants?! You sons of bitches, I demand you build me a Perkins NOW!!

AP is awesome entirely because of who shows up, not who staffs it. That being said, good riddance.

Centaura - April 7, 2007 03:10 PM (GMT)
WHO complains about anything FREE? Reminds me of this family whining on a train about their tickets (good for three months) not being checked. Um, hello? FREE RIDE??/1/1?!?

There were two pizza places that delivered. Save the 24-hour restaurants for late pm/early am and voila, you don't get stuck eating the same food all weekend. It's called planning, lol.

I can't believe how many people base their opinion of cons on HENTAI. Srsly guys.

And please don't tell me you were the patient monster chasing down that girl outside the building. Please.

Lothlin - April 7, 2007 03:39 PM (GMT)
You didn't buy a badge, you have no right to complain. Now shut the fuck up, and please don't come back unless you actually pay.

Kaisermikeb - April 7, 2007 05:54 PM (GMT)
While I don't agree with the tone Lothlin used, she does have a point. You're not with our group! Our group pays! Part of the cost of a badge is the right to have an opinion, because whether it may seem like it or not, we scour these forums when planning for the next year.

One change you CAN be sure of is that for now on badge checks will be pretty much mandatory at all events.

in response to the guy who knows nothing about music yes im in a band and yes i know how long it takes to learn cover material and honestly cover material takes 1/4th the time it takes to write an original because everything is written out for you. Ive been playing guitar for around 11 years and while learning covers takes time, it doesnt take that much time. As for the rest of you, you make me laugh.

smokie - April 7, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
Mike or possibly Wyatt please ban this asshole.

Plus dude cover tunes or not the Bards just play such a large amount of stuff. So it has to be hard to remember it all. I'm sure they could compose and play original shit if they wanted to but its not their thing.

shut your faggot ass mouth kid, how about you actually say something specific to back up what you say rather than just pulling shit out of your ass.

Half of what you're complaining about is just a problem in your own stuckup tastes and lack of planning.

DKong - April 7, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
That's kinda odd....my badge was checked each and every time I walked into the Dealers Room (it was pinned to a side pocket on my shorts, which is sorta an unconventional place to put it). It wasn't checked anywhere else though, as far as I know.

Also, as for restaurants- Subways owns. I could live off of that alone for the whole weekend. There was also a Wendy's in walking distance if you don't like Mcdonalds...plus as people already said, there was pizza delivery.

Lilith's Dark Shadow - April 7, 2007 08:16 PM (GMT)
and then there was the entirety of easton only a few exits down on the highway

whoa unnecessary fire... :sniper: :bash: ok so most of the things that did get canceled were not by the con staff.. it was the hotel. HENCE the reason why they get a -10 out of 5. They ruined a lot of the activities and atmosphere. But the con staff should not be outright blamed for things that the hotel management wouldn't allow.
:priest:
The Bards are awesome. Whatever they play is great, I love the music they play and they're truly great people to be around. Not to be harsh or anything but why don't you play music for us next time to back up your words?

Lothlin - April 7, 2007 08:19 PM (GMT)
Sorry about my tone Mike, but I'm a bit intolerant of assholes who think they can get off free and then complain about shit they didn't pay for. Plus, he insulted the Bards, RBG, and complaining about the restaurants when HAY LOOK, we had the bloody free consuite.

Kaisermikeb - April 7, 2007 08:43 PM (GMT)
Dude, lets all start playing the "Who knows more about how to make music" game! That's always a fun one!

You know it occurs to me that we ran a convention like total nice guys and all the assholes are pissed. Next year want to run it like assholes and see if they respect us?

unseengbh - April 7, 2007 09:05 PM (GMT)
No.

I loved the hotel, their staff was all really awesome, I loved the many rooms they had, the pool and the set up. As for the Spoony Bards, I loved them, they were nice and they could play almost anything you told them too. I play bass but I suck so I won't argue about that, but to remember all of those songs and be able to play for as long as they did was impressive.

Bloodsin - April 7, 2007 09:08 PM (GMT)
You realize you guys are only further proving my point instead of actually being civil about it which i wasnt expecting really. Opinion is opinion and once an opposite opinion is stated i love how everyone jumps on it and instantly denies it. Keep it up guys=D

unseengbh - April 7, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
How wasn't I being civil about it? I was stating my opinion also.
