Title: the dreaded sick

yuesokka - March 27, 2007 02:38 AM (GMT)
so who else is getting sick or has been sick now and is worried about it affecting your con time. i know me and another one of my freinds is sick and were a bit worried we still gonna be out when con rolls around i've been sick since last thrusday, just to find out today the doctor perscribed the wrong medication. anyone having issues with that.

DKong - March 27, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
I've been fine, but a ton of people at my school have been coming down with mono, strep, pneumonia...and all types of weird shit that usually doesn't hit the entire school at once...so I'm worried about that stuff.

Lothlin - March 27, 2007 03:22 AM (GMT)
I actually got sick after Ohayocon. This time? I'm seriously bringing a bottle of purell with me, that thing is never going to leave my side. I'm determined not to catch the con bug again x.x

i've been making sure i've been getting enough vitamins to keep away the bug. everyone i know has been sick for weeks...seems like a domino effect. I suggest drinking lots of juice and tea. It has been helping me alot and tends to boost the immune system. i got a cold after ohayocon, but heck I was around hundreds of people. so you kind of expect it.

as the weather keeps changing here, allergies and sinuses are going to play a huge factor in how you feel. supposed to be in the 70's on friday and in the 50's with rain on saturday. so there will be a drop in temp. knowing the great Ohio weather it could drop colder or stay warm. you never know what will happen.

My mom was sick all last week, but I've managed to avoid it so far. Hopefully I can get though the week without catching anything.

No need to go OCD washing. All you need to do is wash your hands frequently enough (ALWAYS after using the restroom, and before you eat as much as possible), drink water and OJ, and get good amounts of sleep.

Weaklings! Have none of you seen Genshiken? If you remember the one dude was a good soldier on his feet with a arm he just broke and he made it through most of Comiket. If he could manage that then anything is possible. You just need to have some good ol otaku fighting spirit.

And Mike look at it in a positive light at least you ain't pregnant.

Yuffie - March 27, 2007 08:41 PM (GMT)
Poor Mike. :/

Guys apparently can have their own form--unless that was a dream I had...

I think everyone was sick after Ohayocon who was around the ap table, there was something going around. Doubled if you intereacted with very very friendly me.

I'm suffering from overstress or something. So much work. And I'm going to have to concede to defeat Thursday that no matter what I did, I couldn't bring up my grade from a D+ in German. Just flat been flat out exhausted. I'm worried about having enough energy to do the con. ^^;

Now I'm hyper and exhausted...somehow it works.

Vincent - March 27, 2007 08:45 PM (GMT)
Wasn't there a president who wanted to make people think he wasn't weak so he gave a speach in the rain and died...a week later? >>

Lothlin - March 27, 2007 09:05 PM (GMT)
Well, yeah, I'm not going to get OCD. But the purell helps when there isn't a handy (clean) restroom around when I need to eat, you know?

Poor Yuffie *hugs*. (Wait, you're why I was sick? ;p)

Yuffie - March 27, 2007 09:09 PM (GMT)
Harrison? I think it was three weeks, then he died.

Argh, on to me! Yeah, I'm not sure if I caught the Ohayocon flu bug or the the Marching Band flu bug. xP

crknight29 - March 28, 2007 05:31 AM (GMT)
doctors have tested products like purrell and they say they are a joke. it is better to wash your hands then mask the germs on them. any how germs are getting tougher and tougher to kill.
just make sure you are taking care of yourself (keep clean).

Lothlin - March 28, 2007 01:32 PM (GMT)
Really? Do you have links to any studies to back that up? Because that's honestly the first time I've heard that purell is worthless.

Of course washing your hands is better, but there isn't always a washroom nearby. x.x

yuesokka - March 28, 2007 05:57 PM (GMT)
lol

DKong - March 28, 2007 06:00 PM (GMT)
Well I just remember from bio class that since it only kills 99% of germs, the 1% that can't be killed by purell will reproduce on your hands and then eventually purell won't be able to kill that many germs on your hands, thus it becomes pointless.

Then again, same thing goes for antibacterial soap that says it kills 99% of germs. So I guess you just have to pick your battles with this one.

And yeah, just last night I got a stomach ache and got all achy....so I stayed home from school. Though, I'm feeling a LOT better right now, so I think I'll still make it to AP.

smokie - March 28, 2007 09:36 PM (GMT)
If somebody passes out at the con just stick Pocky up their nose. It serves multiple purposes. The first is that the strong smell of Pocky should be able to awaken any fatigued or sick otaku. The second being the fun of sticking a Japanese snack food up someones nostrils. Pocky it cures what ails ya!

crknight29 - March 29, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
well, as long as it isn't the almond crusted.
