Title: Alternative Sources of Energy
Description: Me = Energy Drinkless
chenDawg - March 11, 2007 03:57 AM (GMT)
So yeah, I went to the Doc the other day and she said that I'm never allowed to drink energy drinks again... <_<
Something about me having an abnormally fast heartbeat and it could cause my heart to stop or sumthin like that... :ph43r:
So I was wondering if anyone knew any other sources of energy to help me stay awake at AP.

Coffee, caffine pills, pixie dew (pixie sticks + mountain dew)...

sleep, it helps people stay awake longer

You might have to skip a few things so you can get some sleep and I probably wouldn't take anything with more caffeine than Mountin Dew. Maybe you should just try and keep up and moving around. I know none of this is very helpful but its really probably all you can do. I mean you can't endanger you health just for a con. Some out there may disagree with that but if you die then you can't go to anymore cons. so its best to pace yourself to live to fight another day.

Honestly... ^^; You're not going to miss anything by trying to stay awake the whole con, and you're probably just going to do more harm to yourself. Since energy drinks are out of the question, I don't see how caffeine and sugar rushes could be any better for you, health-wise.
So really, eat well and get some sleep, and you'll notice how much easier it is to have energy than downing 5000lb of sugar and caffeine. ^_^

Yeah, don't be a fucktard just because you want to stay up a little later. If you can't stay energized on your own then change your lifestyle. You have 3 weeks to prepare for the convention. A healthy daily excersize regiment will give you more energy than you can imagine, will bring your resting heartrate down, and will help you in other ways.
At the con, if you need a boost, try EATING something. Drinks are super and all, but a candy bar, or even a granola bar will give you FAR more energy than any so-called energy drink. I would also recommend drinking orange juice or tomato juice, which will give you more sustainable energy than most energy drinks, which will just hit you with a dose of caffine and will only last for about an hour.
Last, aside from eating carbohydrates throughout the day to stay energized, start and end the day with some solid protein. Carbs give you some fast energy, but protein has more pound for pound energy than anything else. Have some meat with breakfast and you'll notice a lasting affect all day long. (note, Chicken does NOT count as a high protein meat).
So in summation,
Breakfast: Eat a big one with some carbs (cereal, hash browns) and some meat (bacon is good, but sausage or steak would be better).
Snack on high sugar/carb snacks all day (candy bars/granola bars)
Lunch: Something with lots of carbs. Pasta or Rice dishes would be good.
More snacking and LOTS of hydration (with Juice or Soda, something that both Hydrates and fills in some extra sugar)
Dinner: something hearty, lots of beef!
Midnight snack: Hit Wafflehouse or McDonalds (both open 24hours) for some late night energy. Just becareful, wafflehouse can get scary!
Sleep: Get at least 4 hours sleep to ensure you get one full sleep cycle (6 hours would be even better so you hit Stage IV and REM sleep twice) to recharge your brain and heart.

Mike we all know you just don't want people screaming so when you tear through the con with a silenced submachine gun you can rock the body count as high as possible. Nobody getting an early warning due to screams on your watch.
Kaisermikeb - March 12, 2007 02:58 AM (GMT)
No, most of my machine gun fantasies involve a LOT of screaming. Now short sword or knives, that I would like to do silently!
