Title: How are we on rooms?
Description: I haven't had a chance to get mine yet.
kendalala - February 22, 2007 08:35 AM (GMT)
Are there still rooms available for Friday night? My friend and I just got permission from our parents. Is it too late to get one? :[
Kaisermikeb - February 22, 2007 09:18 AM (GMT)
Yes, but you have to act quickly! The info is on the website, and be sure to mention the convention when you call!
They are 99 a night. Go!

Okay, so I finally got my Mom to call and reserve a room. Guess what? I can't get a room because my friend and I are both under 18.
Awesome.

Have your mom or an 18+ older friend be your guardian for the weekend. All they have to do is sign saying they are in charge of you.

or call again and this time don't be stupid and tell them your ages!

Wouldn't you have to show ID of some sort when checking in? Also, my Mom is ultra-Christian and refuses to lie at all.
I just can't imagine every room having at least one 18 year old. Isn't there something my Mom could sign? I mean, kids fly on airplanes by themselves.. it doesn't make any sense.
Kaisermikeb - February 24, 2007 11:19 PM (GMT)
Make the call yourself, or have your mom leave certain details out?
That or drag along an 18 year old friend.

I am 19, and could be using a room. We should discuss.
AIM/PM/Email me.

I just called to reserve a room tonight, about four hours ago. Friday's completely sold out, though rooms are still available for Saturday, as far as I know. Hope that helps.

WELL THIS SUCKS! guess what... all of the rooms are already taken>< Now, me, my mom and 3 other friends have to stay in another hotel>< God, That's going to be a hassle. Not to mention my mom will be at a scrapbooking con the same weekend. That's one of the reasons I'm going. Because my dad had a "One Free Night" Marriot card thing. But he couldn't use it 'cause the hotel is closed to the public (I mean for people who aren't attending the con). Which really sucked......
-sob sob-
And the crappiest thing is, I might be in a full costume on saturday or something... Embarrassing going into a hotel like that><

Woah woah!
Make sure you mentioned Anime Punch! I just called the Marriott, and rooms were still available at 99/night. You *have* to mention Anime Punch, or else they'll say there are no rooms available.
So, try again!
Edit: Also, it really wouldn't matter whether your dad was attending the actual con or not, if the room is under his name thats another matter entirely (with regards to checking in). The main point is to just mention Anime Punch.

Rooms are still available for Saturday, but when I called last night, they were completely sold out on Friday.

We have the entire hotel, don't we? Everything can't be sold out...

Please check
this thread ^_^. I haven't had the chance to contact the hotel yet, so I don't know the *definite* status.

There are still rooms, you just have to jump through a hoop to get them.
yuesokka - March 15, 2007 05:01 PM (GMT)
the reason you have to have a certain age to stay in a hotel is because they don't want it trashed. when i needed a place to stay at college for a week in between dorms opening and closing, my mom had to go with me and beg to get me a hotel room. and i was 19. out of 6 hotels only one agreed, to let me stay by myself most had a solid rule of must be 21 to stay by yourself in the hotel.
and mike do you think you can talk to the hotel and ask them to ask if poeple are with animepunch if they call about that weekend. it might help with the hassle.

Do you live in retarded land? At first I was going to ask how cool you were to be all really young and in college, but then it turns out you live in some black hole of humanity where they have rules like you have to be 21 to check out a room.
In the rest of the world, where Hotels are businesses and make money, they don't give a rats ass who you are, you have to be over 18 in order to enter into a contractual agreement with them. If you trash the room they will charge you.

it was up by detriot, in ypsilanti and ann arbor area.
but i look really young for my age (usual estimate i get is 12). so they might not have believed that i was 19. even when i show my drivers license at some places they tell me it's fake.
Kaisermikeb - March 15, 2007 11:35 PM (GMT)
No ask no tell. I've been booking hotel rooms since I was 15.
The reason for the policy (which nearly every hotel chain adopts) is that in the hotel minibars and through roomservice you can order alcohol. Again though, it's not widely enforced, but it is a rule in most places.
As for calling the hotel and talking to them, it's the national registration line that has the issues, the local hotel knows what's what, so you just have to talk to them, and to the right people.

there are no rooms my boyfriend has called twice both times mentioning Anime Punch and both times they said there were no room. we even talked to the person we were told to. we were told they had been sold out for 2 weeks as of the 14th so we have to go to another hotel too.
Kaisermikeb - March 16, 2007 05:57 PM (GMT)
You SURE you talked to LISA? I talked to her less than a week ago and there are still rooms available. You'll have to get a king bed, but just keep demanding a room until you get one because I KNOW they have them. They are just really weird about selling them for some lame-ass reason.
