yuesokka - February 15, 2007 10:56 PM (GMT)
He's so cute and adorable compared to some of their other 70cm doll head sculpts. I'll post pics here real soon i already got a few pics. One of him alone And one with his little brother and baby sister. XD.
also I need help with finding him a name anyone got any suggestions?
my other two's names are
Cascata: which is italian for waterfall. Cas for short
Skatolaki: which is greek for little shit head. Laki for short.
Kaisermikeb - February 15, 2007 11:42 PM (GMT)
how about "fucking stupid little peice of shit that you shelter yourself in to protect you from the harsh realities of life but in the end only creates a greater barrier to forming a meaningful relationship outside of your little fantasy world cult"
I think it's a great name for a doll.
Lothlin - February 15, 2007 11:54 PM (GMT)
*shrugs* Everyone has their hobbies. Fuck, I've got a gaggle of my little ponies that are climbing up my closet door right now ;p.
Any ideas on different meanings that you might want to have for the name? I could probably dig something up.
Kaisermikeb - February 16, 2007 06:32 AM (GMT)
Hey if she's not going to take it seriously, why should I? What kind of meatball head names something shithead?
Lothlin - February 16, 2007 07:09 AM (GMT)
True XD I thought it was at least mildly amusing though.

Mike: that name is to long for a dollfie . .can't you make it shorter?
Congrads on your dollfie!! Im so happy that you got yours and its finally home. What kind of dollfie is it? Did you post it on doa yet? Do you know what kinda style its going to have or personailty? Sometimes you can guess all of that based on the name. You can do that for people aswell
Example:
Michael "Who is God like" but sometimes the personalities are opposite aswell. Which at times can make it amusing aswell.
To look up names I would recommened this website
it has names orgin and its very helpful.

I don't have any great love for dollfies but Mike and Kag should lay off. I feel they are a bit too feminine for me but considering my love of action figures, ganshopan, figurines, ect. I can see how they appeal to some people.
kalajessta - February 16, 2007 10:08 PM (GMT)
I agree with Mike on this one. If she's not going to be serious about naming her doll, she shouldn't own one. For any doll owner, they should know that a name means everything to owning a doll. It brings out the dolls personality, not the owners.
Lothlin - February 16, 2007 11:27 PM (GMT)
Holy shit! It's a hobby; if she wants to do something different with her dolls, that's her right! She's the one spending hundreds of dollars a doll, she should be able to do whatever the hell she wants with it. It is a doll, a bloody inanimate object, it doesn't have a personality outside of the imaginations of the people who own them.
I think if I ever get one, I am staying miles away from the dollfie fandom, it's starting to frighten me.
Yuffie - February 16, 2007 11:32 PM (GMT)
This has to be one of the oddest arguments I've ever seen. I mean, you can name a cat whatever you want, why not a doll?
I have a stuff cat named 'Damn Fool Cat' based off of a cat really named that.

I couldn't think of a name for him. I only ever felt like calling him a little shit or you little shit. so I stated that while asking for help for finding a name for him. And some one find that name for me. And so he was named that. It just seems to fit his personality.

I don't even know where this came from. Cause no one here has any room to say that about anything anyone else likes. We're on a anime con board. (sorry for this comming off so bad. I've had a bad week and this was the only thing that really actually cheered me up so to come on and see this was crushing.)

Not yet. He hasn't really talked to me yet. I haven't gotten a feel for his personality yet. so any suggestions maybe are appercaited.

I don't do doa actually sorry so my kids pics won't be posted on that. Plus I was banned for liking barbies, go figure. The boy is the doll-zone aniversay contest prize head called recal. I'm pretty sure they are only being given to the contest winners. and I have a baby name site I use, but it only works when I have an idea for his personality, when I don't I like to get other people's ideas to help me figure out maybe what his personality is. I get a list and ask him if he likes it. That's how Laki pretty much got his name. I got a list and then asked him what he thought was best and he really like greek shit head. It just fits him.

and I think you shouldn't own dolls because of your negativity towards others with dolls and your eliteism that drives people away from the hobby. And I was serious about naming my doll. And it bringing out his personality, that's why his name is greek for little shit head. He is a little shit head.
(Sorry for this being so long and here are the pics I said I'd post)

Up, now you've gone and taken things too far again.
I may say dolls are stupid, and believe it, and be secretly planning a dollocaust, but at least I'm not an elitist bitch!

He just doesn't have eyes yet. The ones I want are $55. So he has to wait a little bit. I'm sure he'll be creepier then. Pupilless eyes, that glow in the dark. :)
Vincent - February 17, 2007 11:40 PM (GMT)
All of the pictures creep me out. I am weirded out by dolls enough without seeing a closeup of a dolls head with no eyes.
Also- Inanimate objects do not talk to you. And they do not have personalities. It's almost as bad as those psychos that think cards have spirits like in the anime. >_>

If you talk to most doll owners, they will tell you that the dolls do speak to them. (Not out loud, or in your head, just like a sixth sense kind of thing. And they do have their own personalities, agian it's just something you feel.)
Kaisermikeb - February 18, 2007 04:58 AM (GMT)

What do the dolls say?
Things like this?
islington - February 18, 2007 05:11 AM (GMT)
Er...I'm a doll owner, and my dolls don't speak to me. I'm of the opinion that any 'personality' a doll has is projected onto it by its owner, regardless of whether or not it's a conscious decision.
Lothlin - February 18, 2007 05:54 AM (GMT)
...yeah, inanimate objects can't talk. It's all just us, or whoever, projecting what we want to give them a personality, be it a doll(not just resin dolls, mind,) roleplay characters, toys, art.. whatever.
Though, I will say some things can invoke feelings in us; still, it's not them having emotions. No one will deny that something like Michelangelo's Pieta invokes emotion in those who look upon it, but the statue itsself doesn't have a personality. And it doesn't really talk...
Well, unless they're one of those hideous fish that have a motion sensor. They... sort of talk.

Are you talking about those plasticy red fish that curl up in your hand and shit? Cause those are cool.
Otherwise, no, they don't talk or have souls. Unless you count my Card Captor Sakura doll. She says, "Hi, I'm Sakoorah! I'm the Card Captor! Release the power!"
And as a person who used to want a BJD, the fact remains that a bodyless head with no wig, eyes, or visible signs of makeup is creepy as all get out.
Lothlin - February 18, 2007 03:09 PM (GMT)
no, i'm talking about those fish that get mounted on the wall and sing songs when you walk by x.x

I said most not all doll owners I would like to repeat and clarify.

My dolls usually let me know if they do or do not like a name. They will flop over, kick, so other negative looking form of action. If they like it, I usually get a tilted upwards head or a hand or arm flinging up.

Again I said most not all. A generalzation would have been if I said all.
Vincent - February 19, 2007 05:51 AM (GMT)
No, saying most is a generalization as well. Because as far as you know you and your friends who talk to toys could be the minority in this situation and you just don't know it.

I'm not just talking my friends just random doll poeple online and at cons too have said it. And so far out of the hundred so poeple have talked to. (only 2 friends have dolls.) You are the only one who's on that side of the line. so rght now you are the minority from my veiw and i still say that by saying most not all is not a generalzation.
Vincent - February 19, 2007 06:05 AM (GMT)
Actually I'm not anywhere in your view. I am not associated with dolls in any way other then that they scare the hell outta me.

Ok then, so then why do you care if poeple feel their dolls talk to them?
Vincent - February 19, 2007 06:16 AM (GMT)
Because I am taking psychology classes so I am worried about your mental state and ability to interact with society properly.

And yeah, whether it's true or not (and it's not) you did make a pretty broad generalization.

I'm taking a psycolgy class too, dumbass. And my teacher loves seeing my dolls in class with me. She plays with them and talks to them too. Actually alot of my teachers and my friend's teachers all do. And I think you'd have more of problem in society both of you (Mike) since your the dicks bashing poeple all the time cause your so insecure.
