sixpod - July 7, 2005 04:10 AM (GMT)
akira, princess mononoke, samurai champloo
WardRBG5 - July 7, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
I'd really like to see Knockin on Heaven's Door(Cowboy Bebop) and if anybody can find it online...Voltron:Fleet of Doom. I know its might not be true anime but its so old and antique that nobody remembers it anymore.
As for series episodes, how about Gungrave and RahXephon?
narultimatehero - July 8, 2005 02:05 AM (GMT)
I want the Naruto movie! I also want Memories.
Kaisermikeb - July 10, 2005 03:55 PM (GMT)
So far we've got a lot of name brand suggestions, and that's cool, we should play some well known stuff into the mix.
Conceptually though, what are some ideas for video room? I think Pandad suggested the Music Videos, what else do you want to see?
Do you want us to focus on the stuff that you honest-to-God can't find anywhere else, or do you want us to gather the more pop-oriented stuff? Obviously we'll have a good mix no matter what, but what do you want us to focus on finding?
...also, I'm moving this thread to the video forum, please make a note of it.
Kyo_RBG - July 10, 2005 06:26 PM (GMT)
I also want to see 3x3 eyes its always fun to watch someone get a bridge dropped on their head.
Craig - July 10, 2005 06:46 PM (GMT)
Kaisermikeb - July 10, 2005 09:10 PM (GMT)
Live action? Like what? Meet the Fockers? Judgement Day?
With only three rooms, I think there is so much anime that deserves showing that we won't have much space for anything else, but I'm pretty sure we'll at least show Talking Head and Love and Pop at some point in the Documentary room (even though they arn't technically documentaries)
narultimatehero - July 10, 2005 11:16 PM (GMT)
What's this talking head thing everyone keeps going on about? Oh, I also remembered, It would be nice if the Rahxephon movie got a showing.
sixpod - July 11, 2005 12:44 AM (GMT)
I think it would be cool to get bands that play to anime video clips and such.
Craig - July 11, 2005 05:58 AM (GMT)
Kaisermike - Movies like Returner, Ong Bak, Shaolin Soccer, The Eye, Rikyo, etc.
Kaisermikeb - July 11, 2005 06:00 AM (GMT)
hmm... most of those movies arn't even Japanese.
As for the bands with anime behind them... what would that be?
sixpod - July 11, 2005 03:15 PM (GMT)
well as far as the bands with videos behind them.
The band could put together anything!
Sortof of like Piano Squall does.
I know my band would be more than happy to do it!
We would probably use anime such as Akira, Big 0, Full Metal Alchemist, Escaflowne.. and games like -chrono trigger, final fantasy, zone of the enders and such. Basically like a live version of an AMV!! that's pretty much the just of the idea!
narultimatehero - July 14, 2005 01:49 AM (GMT)
i like that. what will they play?
Kaisermikeb - July 14, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm not quite sure I follow, but it's starting to sound cool!
sixpod - July 14, 2005 04:57 AM (GMT)
well the bands can play video game music/anime music or original pieces that basically go as a soundtrack for the ANIME/game VIDEOS showing in the background!
Craig - July 14, 2005 08:03 AM (GMT)
So basicly...they're a cover band and not at all like an amv? I say go for it regardless aslong as the band doesn't suck. Post mp3 samples so we can listen.
sixpod - July 14, 2005 01:39 PM (GMT)
i guess. if you want to put it bluntly.*picks up a rock*
definently not all covers though.
will try and see if I can find a copy of the video they did of their one original song to "big0"
~Ayaji~ - July 31, 2005 01:36 AM (GMT)
I want to see Excel Saga, VanDread, and Sorcerer Hunters
Swordfish2Cowboy - August 1, 2005 10:41 PM (GMT)
MalkavianPranks - August 2, 2005 08:49 AM (GMT)
Would the old Link adventures count as anime from the early 90's super mario show?
Kaisermikeb - August 2, 2005 04:04 PM (GMT)
well EX-CUUUUSSSEEE ME, Princess!
Yeah... you sold me on it!
Um, Fansubs are fine as long as the show isn't licensed, however a good bulk of the fansubbed material we show will probably be much older, and something that most people havn't heard of before. Anyone can track down Bleach, so we're going to show minky momo!
Of course, if it's worth showing, we'll show it. If Beck isn't licensed by then expect to see it, for example!
KyoHana - August 9, 2005 08:10 PM (GMT)
What about the Samurai X OVA?
MalkavianPranks - August 10, 2005 06:56 AM (GMT)
Kaisermikeb - August 10, 2005 08:31 PM (GMT)
Wyatt - August 10, 2005 11:03 PM (GMT)
Kung Fu Hustle. And some classic Godzilla. That's the ticket.
Kaisermikeb - August 11, 2005 01:26 AM (GMT)
Clearly not anime, but it will be remembered!
Oh man, wouldn't it be great if there was a godzilla anime made between 1960 and 1982?!

Yeah...instead of that annoying Godzilla Hanna-Barbera cartoon made....between the years of 1960 and 1982...
Oh, anime? You mean you actually want to have something to do with the convention? Okay. Are we going obscure or recent? What are the constraints? I would suggest Gankutsuo, but it's been licensed and the DVDs are...out or not? There's Kanon (which I doubt will ever be licensed) but I wouldn't doubt that a lot of people wouldn't like that. (Honest question: how much do we care?). Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is good and if you want old-school, Megazone 23. For weird and fucked up: Puni Puni Poemi fits both criteria and is short enough that you don't have to leave anyone hanging. Some people seem to like sCRYed for action. Nuku Nuku Classic is always fun, seconded for 3x3 eyes, Blue sub is interesting, Galaxy Express (the movie), Kaleido Star... Three video rooms is honestly not enough (we'll make do, to be sure, but...) and there's a lot of deserving work in both the mainstream and obscure courts. It seems the first thing that needs done is to pool resources and find out what's readily available (rather than spend more of what everyone wishes they had).
Kaisermikeb - August 11, 2005 05:44 AM (GMT)
I think our hardest challenge will be working enough mainstream stuff in with what we want to show!
I would do Nausicaa, but it's di$ney. Susan, a higher up in the con is a huge Genkotsu fan, so I'm sure that will get a showing in her honor. Kanan wa... tyouto...
Megazone will of course be in the bad anime room, where all motorcycle mech shows belong! I just showed classic Nuku Nuku to someone last night, and I think it will probably find a home in the schedule. 3x3 is one that I have specifically requested. Blue Sub is pretty cool, and hasn't really gotten any press lately, so that might be a really good choice, especially since a lot of people probably vaguely remember it from CN a while back. Kaleido is like... really good for a show that by its nature must suck!
In the end though, all video room stuff comes down to Chris, who will undoubtedly read this, but not respond.
We make this promise though. There will be something in our showing rooms you've never seen. We might even go so far as to say we will have stuff you never even knew existed!
Craig - August 14, 2005 08:56 AM (GMT)
I want Cromartie High. 25 episodes that are only like 11 minutes long. Great Series.
inuyasha_goth - August 14, 2005 05:08 PM (GMT)
spirited away,my neighbor totoro,castle in the sky,samurai champloo,fruits basket((funny)),naruto,INUYASHA!!!!!!!!!
Craig - August 15, 2005 06:56 AM (GMT)
Why watch something at a con you can watch on cable?
inuyasha_goth - August 15, 2005 12:23 PM (GMT)
because the con is cooler.currentlly im planning a trip to japan so i can go to the haoya mirazaki museum.they have a movie room like the room of the big baby from spirited away.
demon_cat_snowy - August 15, 2005 02:39 PM (GMT)
Haoya Mirazaki? Never heard of him/her/it. Why does he/she/it have a museum with a room that rips off Spirited Away? Does he/she/it have something to do with Hayao Miyazaki and/or Studio Ghibli?
And didn't Mike already say no to Ghibli stuff 'cause it's licensed by Disney? I've heard they're a pain about letting cons show their stuff.
And speaking of our *beloved* admin, your Japanese sucks! Tch, can't even get a little word like tyotto right... :P
Back on topic, I have no real preference as I probably won't spend too much time in the vid rooms, but I'm curious about 3x3 Eyes and Nuku Nuku. How about Slayers (always good for a laugh)? Or (dun dun dunnnnn) Princess Tutu (it's so underrated!)? Not anime but perhaps related enough... Live Action Sailor Moon (so bad that... it's just bad. But you love it anyway)?
inuyasha_goth - August 15, 2005 02:48 PM (GMT)
they have a room off of spirited away because they made it!hes a really important film maker.
ps.i finished the top of my inuyasha costume today!!!!!!!!!omg!!!!!!!!!!!!
demon_cat_snowy - August 15, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
Now, if this "Haoya Mirazaki" you love so much really is an important filmmaker, wouldn't he show up in a google search?
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=+Haoy...G=Google+SearchFunny, Google seems to think he doesn't exist...
The person you are thinking of is Hayao Miyazaki. Ha-ya-o Mi-ya-za-ki. Not difficult. He is indeed a well known and popular filmmaker, rather like a Japanese version of Walt Disney (but infinitely cooler), and does indeed have a very popular museum. Hayao Miyazaki made Spirited Away, not Haoya Mirazaki.

Just to let you know. Inyuasha fails, You fail, Your trip to japan will fail.
Anyway, Ghibli is a nono and (as previously stated) Inyuasha fails. If there is going to be a series being shown something like Sagakakie! Cromartie High, or Macross, or Hare Nochii Guu. You know...good anime.
Kaisermikeb - August 15, 2005 11:53 PM (GMT)
Craig fails, those are the weakest burns yet.
I think Hare + Guu is going to find its place in our schedule! I would like to show some Ghibli stuff, but as has been mentioned several times now, Disney is a bitch. Luckily they don't own Future Boy Conan, one of Miyazaki's pre-ghibli works that is still really good (similar to Laputa) which we WILL show.
Craig - August 16, 2005 01:31 AM (GMT)
Well...hating on the trip to Japan wasn't exactly a burn, just horrid truth. I mean...what anime-fan hasn't decided "LOL Hay guys! I'm going to go to Japan! I'm planning the trip right now". I'll tell you who. None of them. Every anime-fan has at one time or another planned to go to Japan. You know how many go? Like 1 for every 3,342,865,432,745 other geeks. Those numbers are dead on too.
As for Inyuasha *deep breath* The recipe for Inyuasha includes five parts furry, one gallon of emo tears, one livejournal, a stick of bad animation, two parts attempted mythology, and a cup of demons. Whisk until smooth, bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes and you have Inyuasha. The story, as previously stated, is completely awful. In fact the entire premise of the show is used for 75% of all other existing "action/drama" anime. My mighty wang could animate better than that and it doesn't even have opposable thumbs.
Now my problems with Inyuasha fans are a bit different. They are all the same. In ever one of these people's wardrobe are atleast two shirts that have some sort of "witty" text on them. Usually shirts that say "Procrastinators Unite Tomorrow" and "You laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same". They wear hoodies too often (even when the weather doesn't warrant a hoodie). They also wear trench coats because they think it makes them look engimatic or mysterious. Not because it helps keep your legs warm and dry during a cold, rainy day.
If you're doing an Inyuasha costume then please, please, PLEASE make it as best as you possibly can. It's so insanely simple that people just throw on some red bed sheets and have a giant sword made out of painted cardboard, and it's all painted one solid color. If you're going to do it, go all out. Make the sword out of a decent material like wood or cardboard with paper mache molded around it in the shape of his blade and painted, and shaded a bit. Accessories make and break the costume. Try to get a fabric that matches the actual costume, not something paper thin.
tl;dr : I was and always will be right.

You have no mighty wang, Craig. Obviously your asshole-ish, cocky attitude on the forums is compensation for your lack of manhood and love as a child and now.
On another note, one week, I took my camera to school and took a picture of every single person wearing one of those "You laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same" shirts. I got 57 pictures, no repeated people. Who's the same now, emo kids? (sorry, just had to add that.)
Oh, and Craig? Snowy is moving in on your position. Better watch yourself.
