Title: Rocky Horror - Anime Style
Description: Anyone?

TimeChaser - July 5, 2005 11:29 PM (GMT)
Well, I was told to make this a new thread, so here we go...

I was thinking of having a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show with a rather untraditional floor show: instead of dressing up as movie characters, we'd have our anime/game/J-rock cosplayers acting it out.

So, anyone like the idea? Anyone interesting in joining in?

narultimatehero - July 6, 2005 02:00 AM (GMT)
I'm officially going to declare that idea too gross for words. Who told you that that was a good idea? I mean, it's a classic and everything, but live action? Probly yuck.

Kaisermikeb - July 6, 2005 05:05 AM (GMT)
I told him it was a good idea... bitch!

Although I have no idea what exactly that would entail or how to pull it off. Someone else is going to have to take charge of this one!

You've obviously never heard of a floor show. That's done in old theaters with stages when the movie is projected onto the screen at the same time that people are acting out the scene below it. Usually, the 'acters' are dressed as their characters, but in this case, they'd just be cosplayers (ie. no stilletos, revealing corsets, etc)

Oh, and I'm a 'she' :)

Kaisermikeb - July 6, 2005 07:01 AM (GMT)
A she huh? That just made this idea just that much hotter!

So would you be Janet or Columbia? ^_^

So would any cosplayers do? Or should we seek out some of those gothy jpop fans who are already in fetish gear anyhow?

I would need some more details on the logistics and organization as well.

narultimatehero - July 7, 2005 12:04 AM (GMT)
Why are you even comprehending doing this? It has nothing to do with anime! And there's no way we could make this open to kids, anyhow. Just forget it.

RBGCloud - July 7, 2005 02:18 AM (GMT)
Oh shut up, Naru. You're like... my exact opposite, aren't you?
Anyhow, I would love to help with this in any way I possibly can, and that includes being an actor/actress (take me as you want me). I adore Rocky Horror and sing the Time Warp nearly constantly. So anything that needs to be done, lemme know!

Kaisermikeb - July 7, 2005 04:37 AM (GMT)
what did whose line is it anyway have to do with anime before we MADE it do with anime!

We'll do the same for Rocky Horror!
Remember Naru, this is the con that "does that"!!

Kyo_RBG - July 7, 2005 05:03 AM (GMT)
I have to say this sounds like kick ass Idea one that I would never have comprehended.

Shoot I'll help and i'll play any part you need but I would prefer riff raff...

Red XIII as Riff Raff think of the possibilities

sixpod - July 7, 2005 02:39 PM (GMT)
yes definently one of those ideas that you would not expect to see at another con. but this is AP!!!
enough said

narultimatehero - July 7, 2005 02:56 PM (GMT)
This is dumb. DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB. How on earth are you possibly going to make this anime styled? IT even says on the website that events have to be vaguely anime related! Can I get some support here?
I probably am your exact opposite Cloud.....

Kaisermikeb - July 7, 2005 06:30 PM (GMT)
Why's it always got to be an arguement with you Naru? This con is run by Mexicans, not Mexican'ts!!

Viva la revolution!

narultimatehero - July 8, 2005 02:08 AM (GMT)
I'm not arguing just to argue. I honestly think this is a dumb idea. Just stop and think about how un-anime-related this concept is.

RBGCloud - July 8, 2005 05:35 AM (GMT)
I'm about to bitch you out, Naru. Here's your warning: If you don't stop being so close-minded, I'll beat your ass with words.
I'd love to be Magenta, if the part is open. I think I could do a normal female roll for once for this special occasion. ^_^

Craig - July 8, 2005 05:46 AM (GMT)
Or we could just make it an 18+ event and Naru won't have any say in the matter because he's too young to go.

EDIT: owned

Kaisermikeb - July 8, 2005 06:04 AM (GMT)
oh snap!

RBGCloud - July 8, 2005 06:13 PM (GMT)
Thank you, Craig. That solves that problem. But my warning still stands, Naru.

narultimatehero - July 8, 2005 07:19 PM (GMT)
Fine, be that way. I thought this convention was going to be 100% anime, but I guess I was wrong. And I like to think that I still wouldn't go see it if I was over 18, because I have more taste than that. And Cloud, if you really want to bitch me out, just leave me a personal message. Don't waste forum space.

RBGCloud - July 8, 2005 09:27 PM (GMT)
You're too blind to see that we could find a way to make it anime-related, Naru. Have you paid any attention to anything we've been saying?
You're right, bitching you out doesn't deserve forum space. But too bad. Seriously, if you disagree with something, shut up about it. Rocky Horror is an awesome musical and I respect it a lot. More taste? Hardly. You have no taste, that's why you continue to needlessly bash something we are working on when we request you don't. Seriously, Naru, welcome to the real world. I realize you haven't been to college yet (neither have I) and you're probably still being spoon-fed by your mother, metaphorically and realistically. Get over it. You're not going to agree with everything in the world.
But do you really call yourself an Otaku? I dunno about everyone else, but I was always under the impression that Otaku were open-minded people that I could talk about almost anything with. I suppose there are two sides to every coin, though. Just chill out, dude. The world isn't going to end and no one is going to force you to see the Rocky Horror thing.

I would like to appologize to anyone else who read this. Naru needed it.

Kaisermikeb - July 8, 2005 10:34 PM (GMT)
I think I should remind everyone of the intent of this con.

Our motto of "we WILL do it" isn't just for advertising, it's serious. The floor show idea can be warped into anime somehow (perhaps have the cosplayers stay in their cosplay personas?). If it can't, we'll scrap the idea, but not everything is pure straight up anime at any con. I mean, Jpop and Videogames arn't anime, yet we still deal with them.

Everyones opinions are important, and if you have an objection to an event feel free to state your opinion, but don't fight it into the ground if staff says that we're going to make it happen.

And rest assured, this won't be like any floor show you've ever seen.

narultimatehero - July 8, 2005 11:45 PM (GMT)
I don't call myself an otaku. I'm a Japanese culture fan who likes to read manga and watch anime. I don't call myself an otaku because nobody can say for sure what an otaku really is. But if you want to do this event, I honestly don't care. I was only trying to voice my opinion on the subject, which is exactly what forums are for. I understand that nobody is going to force me to view this thing, but that isn't a reason to not argue against it. Since Cloud has taken out a personal grudge against me, her insults and jeers do not matter. That is all I have to say.

Yuffie - July 9, 2005 01:11 AM (GMT)
Um, Naru, arem't you being a hypocrite? I don't have a gruge against you, but I'm wondering.

Even though I'm way too young, I think it would be an excellent idea. Seeing cosplayers as familiar anime/video games characters act at the parts and interact wouldn't only be fun for the cosplayers but it would be sweet to watch. If I make it to the con, and it takes place, can someone take pics for me please?

Kyo_RBG - July 9, 2005 01:46 AM (GMT)
I will surely take pics for you.

Baby Bat - July 9, 2005 02:14 AM (GMT)
I would like to pin point a few things with this debate/argument or whatever you wish to call it.
Anime Punch says they will do anything for this con thingie.
There is no real contrast of ideas between "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Utena", or even X, and might i add that those in Rocky Horror are more clothed than the Sailor Scouts? (Not to mention the Sailor Scouts henshin into girl from boys, this is the basis idea of Rocky Horror)
Jrock has no REAL link to anime; it is merely in the "Japanese culture".
Pocky was never really made to be anime intended.
hum, last time I checked Bawls was neither anime related or Japanese.
The only really good ramen is Korean.
Might I add that Nuriko is a cross dresser, granted he is completely clothed.
You want live anime? Go see Sailor Moon Live.
90% of the greatest anime has cross-dressing/homosexuality in it coupled with sexual references. This includes Dragonball Z (it was originated to be a hentai with Sailor Moon {Sailor and the Seven Ballz} you can look it up)

However . . .

you are correct in saying it has no direct relationship to anime.
and that this debate should end because it useless bickering and arguing.

If you were truly an otaku or a person with "better taste", I would think again. people with good taste are accepting and have a wide appreciation for things (even if they do not like it)

Thankie

~Baby Bat~

i39021 - July 9, 2005 02:49 AM (GMT)
i'm willing to help as an extra in the timewarp scene just because it's the only part of the movie i liked....

Craig - July 9, 2005 04:00 AM (GMT)
Calling a convention "Anime Only" is dull and boring. I figure just make it a -convention- that the majoirty of geeks can appreciate. I for one enjoyed seeing the storm troopers at ohayocon drinking booze and shouting at the football game on t.v. Made my day. But thats besides the point. Quit having an internet fight. Don't like the idea...post your peice and be on with it. *Shrugs* I'll work it but I'm not fitting the bill for the con. I figure since mike and crew are paying for it...really what they say goes.

Kaisermikeb - July 9, 2005 07:51 AM (GMT)
Welcome to the boards, Baby bat. Hope you stick around a while!

Well, I'm not sure I would go as far as storm troopers, but we branch out a little farther than just pure anime. It is still anime centric.

Alright, I want a director to come foreward for this project. Whoever it will be will help to organize this event, script it out effectively, and hold a casting call for all the parts.

Baby Bat - July 9, 2005 01:55 PM (GMT)
Unfortuneately, i do not think i will be in town for Anime Punch >.<
i have that thing called school, in a different state. >.<

But i can help out on it if you would like me to. =^-^=

Kaisermikeb - July 9, 2005 05:08 PM (GMT)
Yes, but there are cars that are built to travel great distance! If you don't have one, that's even better because you have friends drive you, and subsiquently bring them to the con too!!

Oh well, if there is no way you can make it though... I guess it might be forgivable, maybe. We'd love to have you on the boards though, the more input the better!

Yuffie - July 11, 2005 01:13 PM (GMT)
-hugs Kyo- Thank-you!

sixpod - July 11, 2005 03:18 PM (GMT)
It would probably be wise to say that maybe the whole movie should be shown but only certain parts be acted out? Just for the sake of trying to get everyone together and do the whole movie would be rather difficult? Just a thought....

RBGCloud - July 12, 2005 03:58 AM (GMT)
I agree with Zell, but I'd be more than happy to direct whatever you decide to do. If you'd like to pick out a few scenes to act out, I'll do casting and ype out the script and what-not.
But keep in mind... There are quite a few of us who have been to a Rocky Horror show. You have to be prepared to be picking rice, toast, toilet paper, etc off of the floor after the show.

Baby Bat - July 12, 2005 04:45 AM (GMT)
Heh, yeah, Cloud, and i can help you as well if you want me to, =^-^= after all, it;s such an awesome movie and such and happy thoughts.

RBGCloud - July 12, 2005 06:06 AM (GMT)
Thanks Ari! I'll take all the help I can get ^_^

Kaisermikeb - July 13, 2005 03:44 AM (GMT)
Time Chaser, did you want to direct, or should the job fall on Cloud?

TimeChaser - August 3, 2005 03:02 AM (GMT)
Since I don't think I'd be too good on stage, I'd like to direct. But, Cloud, if you would like, we could be co-directors since I love you so much *hugs*

I like the idea of only acting out certain scenes, since there are a few parts that I know some people would be uncomfortable doing.

And, incase there has been any confusion, the actors would remain dressed in their anime/game/Jrock outfits. They'd just be acting out Rocky Horror.

RBGCloud - August 3, 2005 04:20 AM (GMT)
Toki and I will discuss this in greater detail one-on-one and get back to you guys later.

Kaisermikeb - August 3, 2005 04:49 AM (GMT)
I have a few ideas myself, and want to make sure it stays on track, so include me in the discussion as well, please.

RBGCloud - August 3, 2005 05:25 AM (GMT)
Of course, Mike. If you have an AIM screen name, please send it to me or just IM me. I can send you the conversation we had tonight.

If anyone else has any ideas, please IM me or Toki. My AIM screen name is "Uncle Cloud T" and my e-mail address is aeris_sehirosu@yahoo.com

Kuroshi - August 28, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)
I'm willing to attempt to help out in the show, if I can actually make it up here. I also have one suggestion that would be interesting, despite that up to a quarter of the convention may dislike the show:
