Kag-ST - January 21, 2007 06:52 AM (GMT)
Yeah, so I've been listening to heavy amounts of Boris and ive been thinking, is their any j-rock that is as good as this?

So we discuss good j-rock, not that visual kei stuff.

I use to be into Jrock a few years ago. Now I mostly listen to Korean Pop and random shit.

Right now I'm pretty much in love with The Roosters. I'm also getting back into Mongol800, but that's because right now I'm on a big Ramones/Clash/Bad Religion kick.

Buck-Tick, I love them, I could listen to them all day

crknight29 - January 22, 2007 06:18 AM (GMT)

Kag-ST - January 22, 2007 06:35 PM (GMT)

i tried, but it didn't work. thanks for trying though

You can get a surprising amount from gendou.com. It's anime themes, but a lot of established bands do have songs that are anime themed, and you can snatch those.

You may want to try Winamp's internet radios. There's plenty of Japanese related stations that are free. Though, it's recommended to have DSL or better for connection speeds.

thanks, i will definetly try them out. if anyone knows of any others, please let me know...thanks.

I use to know a few torrent sites that only offered Jrock, but they went offline. It was rather depressing when they did too.

crknight29 - January 23, 2007 01:26 AM (GMT)
yeah, if anyone has any torrents that may still exist let me know...i wouldn't mind some albums.

Talk to me on AIM when ever. I have a decent batch of Miyavi, Gackt, and Diru.

But I'm more into Techno now. XD;;;

I'm into quite a bit of JRock, my current favs consisting of NIGHTMARE, Monoral, and HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR. I'd check them out, and not to worry, neither are "Visual Kei" bands. tongue.gif

Lothlin - January 28, 2007 12:27 AM (GMT)
I'll agree on you about High and Mighty Color.

Nightmare though, I dunno, they're alright, but their songs tend to sound very similar to me. At least, the two of them I have; I probably could make a better judgment if I heard more, but as it is, they're decent, but they don't stand out that much.

I've heard only three albums (and one single: the WORLD/ALUMINA) by NIGHTMARE, and I only cared for one of the albums in particular (I liked the WORLD/ALUMINA single). The style for their other albums were too hard-rockish for me, which is surprising since I don't usually mind hard rock. Anywho, for NIGHTMARE, I recommend their Libido album to check them out.

I don't know how, but ALI PROJECT seems to be classified as "JRock". Maybe you could check out stuff by them.

Oh, I just thought of another JRock group that's highly under-rated, GOING UNDER GROUND. They're pretty cool, imo. BUMP OF CHICKEN too. You may also be interested in checking out B'z. B'z has been around a good while too.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't be me if I didn't recommend this next group...Do As Infinity. I'm a huge fan of this group, even though they disbanded in September of 2005 and had their final concert Novembe 25 of 2005. I was so into this group, I managed to collect quite a bit of their stuff...

Albums
Break of Dawn
New World
Deep Forest
True Song
Gates of Heaven
Need Your Love
Do the Best
Do the B-side
Do As Infinity Instrumental Collection "Minus V"

Other
Do As Infinity -Final- [w/ T-shirt, Limited Release] DVD

I don't have any singles "owned" by them, that type of stuff is downloaded, just as other live stuff by them, like their 3rd Anniversary Concert and that Live 2004 thing where they came to the states...and I missedout on seeing them by a week!!! They were in New York, I was visiting the week prior.

Anywho, being the goofy fan that I am, I suggest checking them out. I guess you could classify them as being a soft-rock group.
