ok i don't know how to use patterns at all. i just kinda look and do and it turns out nearlly perfect always.

but i have never made a swimsuit before. i have worked with swimsuit material though to make my tiny dolls angel santuary alexial dress.

so i want to know does anyone have any pointers for me. like what stitch to use, how to lay the fabric anything? if so please please post. cause i've never done this before.

I've never done it before either, but I did some research and found out it's quite simple. Once you have your fabric (preferably Nylon Spandex as it is what's mostly used for swimsuits) cut the way you want, you want to use a small-medium zig-zag stitch. (Should look like this: /\/\/)
Make sure you have a polyester thread as it stretches slightly where-as most thread does not. When winding the bobbin make sure you do it slowly because as it heats up, it'll strecth and when your seam relaxes it'll become bunched up and nasty looking. Unless that's what you're looking for.
When sewing, stretch the fabric slightly so that you're seam is not too tight.

I hope that helps some. If not, try googling it. I googled swimwear fabric and I came up with all this information. Ordered all my stuff too. Except I have to make 2 (one for myself and one for my friend) and it cost me a total of $90. Which means I'm broke for the most part. -.-
Good luck with your swimsuit!

i got that same info about the thread when looking to buy fabric online (color selection horrid) and the zig zag stitch is what i use on all stretchy fabric (no clue if that's right to do but it allows it to stretch.)

and i'm happy to know the same thing that works for my dolls works for big poeple clothes too. thanks so much for that info.

but do u know if the stitching needs to be reinforced at all with another kinda of stitch. i've been examining my $200 suit that just ripped too one for ideas on how to do mine and 2 i got to fix that one fucking $200 and it only lasted for less than a year and like 5 wears. pissed me off

I'm going to throw out a suggestion here, and this can be personal preference, but if you have access to a surger, it would help. It's a type of interlocking sewing machine that uses four or five threads at once (and cuts off excess fabric while doing it,) and they are AMAZINGLY useful for making strong seams. My grandmother has one, and over the years I've gotten a taste for them... so much I think I'm going to go start hijacking the one in the costume department when I'm down at school for stuff. The seams that it makes are just so much stronger (though, I'll note, they're no good for hemming since they cut off excess fabric.)

Nope, believe it or not, I'm a game design student. My grandmother was just a professional seamstress in her hayday (and my mother has a good sewing machine along with it,) so I grew up sewing/knitting stuff, and I've picked up knowledge along the way.
